Nest upgrades are tied to fulfilling tasks, according to the listing. Read the displayed task and aim for what it asks you to do instead of assuming that distance alone will upgrade the nest.

The listing names four modes, but does not detail all four modes’ rules in its description. Try the available modes and use each one’s on-screen objective to guide your approach rather than relying on an assumed mode-specific strategy.
