Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is an unusual collection: it brings together three late classic-era adventures, including The Angel of Darkness, a game whose troubled reputation is part of its enduring appeal. The package adds visual switching, two control styles and other conveniences, while its most ambitious restoration concerns content cut from Angel of Darkness. Those additions make the set more inviting on paper, but they do not establish that its older design has been transformed. It is best approached as a preservation-minded collection for players curious about these specific chapters—not as proof that every rough edge has been fixed.
What is included in Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered?
Aspyr’s collection contains three games: Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (1999), Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000) and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003). It launched February 14, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. The launch announcement listed a price of $29.99; that is a historical launch price, not a guarantee of what any store charges now. Crystal Dynamics’ launch announcement lists the games and platforms.
The stories take notably different routes. The Last Revelation centers on Lara’s discovery of Set’s tomb and an ancient prophecy. Chronicles frames its adventures as stories told by people close to Lara after she is presumed dead. The Angel of Darkness casts her as a fugitive accused of murder who investigates a conspiracy. This is a package of three separate adventures, not a new sequel or a single continuous campaign.
What does the remaster add?
The publisher’s launch feature list includes improved graphics with an on-the-fly switch to the classic presentation, modern controls inspired by later games in the series, classic tank-style controls, boss health bars, Photo Mode, and achievements or trophies on supported platforms. These are listed features; the available evidence does not establish how responsive the controls feel or how consistently the new visuals work in play. The official launch announcement describes the graphics toggle and feature set.

The options give players a way to choose how they approach these older games, rather than requiring one control scheme or visual presentation. The trade-off is that feature presence alone cannot answer the practical question of whether a particular game’s movement, camera or puzzles feel comfortable today. That depends on direct play, and should not be mistaken for something the feature list proves.
How does each game fit the collection?
The Last Revelation
The fourth game is built around Lara’s encounter with Set’s tomb and the prophecy surrounding it. Its inclusion makes the collection useful to players following the series’ late-1990s run, as well as those who want to revisit a distinct adventure from that period. The sources establish its premise and release year, but do not support a hands-on judgment about its pacing or the remaster’s moment-to-moment quality.
Chronicles
Chronicles takes a framing-story approach: those close to Lara recount adventures after she is presumed dead. That premise gives the fifth game a different narrative structure from the tomb-centered setup of The Last Revelation. Whether that structure or its levels will suit a new player is a matter for play, not something the collection’s marketing claims settle.

The Angel of Darkness
The sixth game is the collection’s most complicated draw. Its fugitive-and-conspiracy premise is paired with an official restoration effort aimed at ideas and material that had been cut or planned for the original. For players interested in how this entry was meant to develop, that makes it more than a routine visual update—but it does not, by itself, settle the game’s broader design limitations.

Crystal Dynamics’ January 2025 feature describes restored or expanded elements including Kurtis Trent’s Chirugai and psychic shield, a Parisian Back Streets training area, practical uses for Rennes’ pawnshop and the herbalist, additional voice lines and notebook entries, and Von Croy’s cane. The feature is a publisher account of the restoration, not independent evidence that the additions resolve the game’s wider issues. The official restoration feature details the examples.
The same feature recommends Modern controls for Angel of Darkness, describing camera rotation, directional jumping, mid-air shooting, consecutive jumps and corner shooting. That recommendation is Crystal Dynamics’ guidance, not a tested verdict on which scheme feels better. The original game was described by the publisher as “initially divisive” and as having developed a “cult following over the years”; that history helps explain why restoring cut ideas is central to this collection’s appeal, but it is not a review of how well the remaster plays.

What has changed since launch?
Aspyr published two post-launch update notices in 2025. Its April 18 Patch 1 notice said the patch was available on all platforms and listed new outfits for The Last Revelation and Chronicles, Photo Mode additions, brightness and retro-filter options, camera and control refinements, texture and lighting fixes, and localization work. Aspyr’s Patch 1 notes describe those changes.
Patch 2 notes dated August 13 and updated August 14, 2025, list bug fixes, crash improvements, and visual and localization changes across all three games. The listed areas include rare crashes, softlocks, save/load behavior, lighting and textures, voiceover, menu navigation and controller prompts. The notes also say Golden Pistols can be unlocked through TombRaider.com registration in The Last Revelation and Chronicles, but not in Angel of Darkness. These are the publisher’s reported changes, not evidence that every issue is resolved on every current platform. Aspyr’s Patch 2 notes provide the update details.

Is Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered worth playing?
The collection makes the strongest case for players who specifically want these three games together, value the option to switch between classic and remastered visuals, or are curious about Angel of Darkness’s restored material. Players seeking a thoroughly modern redesign—or assurance that the collection’s control feel and stability are beyond criticism—should not infer that from the feature list or patch notes.

For platform choice, the announced release covers Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC storefronts including Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. The PlayStation product page says one purchase entitles the buyer to both digital PS4 and PS5 versions; check the listing for the region and account before buying. The PlayStation Store listing gives the platform entitlement. Current prices and availability can change by store and region.
Physical editions were reported in May 2025 for Spain from Meridiem on PS4, PS5 and Switch, and from Limited Run Games on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Switch, with collector extras such as soundtrack selections, lithographs, keychains and pins.
