There are two separate new Tomb Raider games, and their schedules are no longer as simple as the original announcement suggested. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of Lara Croft’s 1996 debut, is officially dated for February 12, 2027. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is still listed for 2027 on Crystal Dynamics’ project page, but a July 2026 report points to 2028; Amazon had not confirmed that interpretation in the report.
Two different Tomb Raider games were announced
Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics revealed both titles at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025. Legacy of Atlantis revisits the original 1996 adventure, while Catalyst is a new story set in Northern India. They are distinct releases, not two names for the same game. Both announcements named Alix Wilton Regan as Lara Croft’s voice. Amazon’s announcement and PlayStation’s announcement introduced the two projects.

When does Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis come out?
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled to launch February 12, 2027. The official Tomb Raider article published June 8, 2026 calls it a complete reimagining of the original and links preorders for PlayStation 5, Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The initial announcement had described a 2026 window, but the later official date supersedes that schedule. The official date announcement provides the current launch information.
What the reimagining revisits
The game returns to the search for pieces of the Scion, with exploration, traversal, deadly contraptions and dangerous predators. PlayStation’s announcement names Peru, Greece, Egypt and a Mediterranean island among its locations. Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are developing it together. The official descriptions call it a reimagining; they do not establish that it is a scene-for-scene remake. PlayStation’s game page describes the locations and development partnership.

Is Tomb Raider: Catalyst delayed to 2028?
That is not confirmed by the official project listing available in this source set. Crystal Dynamics’ Catalyst project page lists a 2027 release window. However, in a July 24, 2026 report, PC Gamer quoted Amazon Gaming chief Jeffrey Gattis saying in an interview with The Game Business: “We’ve announced the two Tomb Raider titles—Atlantis comes February 12th of next year and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one.” PC Gamer interpreted “the next one” as Catalyst and said it had asked Amazon to confirm. The report did not include that confirmation, so 2028 is a reported possible schedule change, not a settled official date. PC Gamer’s report explains the discrepancy.
What is Tomb Raider: Catalyst about?
Catalyst is an all-new adventure across Northern India, where a mythical cataclysm has awakened ancient secrets and mysterious forces. Lara races against treasure hunters to uncover what happened, must decide whom to trust among rivals and allies, and tries to prevent a catastrophe. Crystal Dynamics describes it as the largest Tomb Raider world yet, with lost tombs, puzzles and customizable adventure technology; the game is being built with Unreal Engine 5. Which platforms are announced?
Both games are currently listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. For Legacy of Atlantis, the official date article also links preorders through PlayStation Store, Steam and Xbox. The cited announcements do not list a Nintendo Switch release or a launch date for either game on additional platforms.

Alix Wilton Regan voices Lara in both announced games. Speaking about her performance in the official June 2026 article, Regan said: “No Laras are left behind. Every version of Lara that has come before has informed my performance.” Studio Creative Director Noah Hughes described the character’s fit with the series’ action-adventure mix, including traversal, combat, puzzles and myth-focused storytelling.
