Top 10 Best FiveM Server Scripts for 2026

A practical 2026 buyer’s guide to FiveM server scripts, explaining framework fit, dependencies, maintenance, testing and paid-resource risks.

The best FiveM script is the one that matches your server’s framework, dependency chain, roleplay design, budget, and maintenance capacity. There is no trustworthy universal ranking: a resource that is ideal for QBCore can be unusable on ESX, while a paid housing or police package may introduce database, inventory, target, licensing, and update requirements that matter more than its feature list.

This guide selects ten high-value script categories for 2026 and identifies a representative choice for each. Treat the list as a buying and architecture guide, not a benchmark leaderboard. Confirm the current release, documentation, compatibility and support status in the resource’s official documentation before installing it.

What “best” means for a FiveM server in 2026

FiveM resources are add-ons that provide functionality to a server. Cfx.re describes them as resources that “can be used to add functionality to your server,” while also warning users to “Use resources at your own risk.” That warning matters because community scripts can modify player data, database schemas, inventories, permissions and network events.

Your first decision is the framework that supplies the server’s underlying structure. Cfx’s framework directory lists ESX, ND, QBCore, Qbox, vRP and VORP as commonly used Lua frameworks. Frameworks define conventions for player objects, jobs, money, callbacks and resource startup, and they can be deployed through txAdmin recipes. A script’s feature list is secondary if it expects a different player object or item schema.

For this list, “best” means the strongest fit for a specific job: a foundation, inventory, shared library, database connector, interaction layer, deployment workflow or specialist feature. Performance statements are limited to documented or editorial claims. A September 21, 2026 comparison of QBCore, ESX, Qbox and alternatives explicitly reported that it performed no cross-framework load test, so its recommendations are editorial judgments rather than benchmark results. No universal market-share, player-count or conversion statistic establishes one framework as the winner.

Top 10 choices at a glance

1. QBCore: the broad-ecosystem foundation

Why it belongs on the list

QBCore is a practical starting point for owners who want a large documented ecosystem and many ready-made job, economy and utility resources. Current comparison coverage commonly presents it as a general-purpose option for new roleplay projects, but that is an editorial assessment, not a measured performance result.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Compatibility and dependency questions

Confirm that every planned resource uses the same QBCore player object, callback conventions, item schema and job definitions. Inventory, target, UI and database resources may be separate choices, so map those interfaces before you buy specialist scripts. A resource advertised as “QBCore compatible” may still require a particular inventory, target system or library version.

When to choose it

  • You are starting a server rather than preserving a large ESX installation.
  • You want broad community examples and documented conventions.
  • Your team can review updates and resolve dependencies instead of treating scripts as plug-and-play.

Install a minimal QBCore base in a staging server first. Add one inventory, one target system and one database connector, then test player creation, character loading, money, item use and job changes before adding content packs.

2. ESX Legacy: the established ecosystem choice

Why it remains relevant

ESX Legacy is the sensible foundation when your server already owns or depends on ESX resources. Its long-running ecosystem includes jobs, societies, garages, housing and economy packages that may not have direct QBCore or Qbox equivalents. Rebuilding those systems solely to follow a newer trend can create migration risk without improving the player experience.

What to audit

Older ESX resources often assume particular item, society-account, identifier or database conventions. Check whether a package expects an older ESX export, a specific inventory or legacy callback behavior. Read migration notes and database instructions before updating the framework; changing the core without converting dependent resources can produce missing jobs, duplicated accounts or failed character loads.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best use case

Choose ESX Legacy when continuity, existing content and staff familiarity outweigh the benefits of changing frameworks. Keep a documented list of every ESX resource and its required version so that a framework update does not silently break a critical service.

3. Qbox: a modern QBCore-derived option

Why consider it

Qbox is discussed in current 2026 framework comparisons as a modern option derived from QBCore concepts. It can appeal to teams that want a newer architecture while retaining familiarity with QBCore-style development.

Migration is the deciding factor

Do not assume that a QBCore resource is automatically a Qbox resource. Compare player data models, exports, callbacks, inventory integration, job definitions and persistence behavior. List every resource you plan to retain and mark it as native, bridge-supported, requiring conversion or unsupported.

Evaluation checklist

  • Identify the native inventory, target and utility resources recommended by the Qbox documentation.
  • Verify conversion tools or migration scripts for characters, vehicles, money and jobs.
  • Check whether specialist resources support Qbox directly or only through a compatibility bridge.
  • Run a full join, character selection, death, job-change and restart test before opening the server.

4. ox_inventory: an inventory architecture decision

What it provides

ox_inventory is a commonly used inventory resource in the current FiveM ecosystem. It can supply item definitions, containers, equipment behavior and persistence, but its value depends on how well the rest of your stack uses its APIs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Compare it with alternatives before migrating

Evaluate ox_inventory against qb-inventory or an ESX-compatible inventory using the same questions: How are items defined? Where is persistence stored? How are usable items registered? Do jobs, shops, stashes, trunks and gloveboxes use the same interface? Which existing scripts need conversion?

Failure modes

Inventory migrations commonly fail when item names, metadata fields or database tables differ. A police script may expect a weapon item that the new inventory does not define; a vehicle script may write stash data using an incompatible schema. Export your production database, test conversion on a copy and keep the original inventory disabled but available for rollback until every critical workflow passes.

5. ox_lib: shared utilities and UI dependencies

Why a library matters

ox_lib supplies shared utility and interface components for resources that support it. A common library can reduce duplicated code and provide consistent menus, notifications, callbacks or progress interfaces.

Check version and bridge support

Installing ox_lib does not make an arbitrary script compatible. Read each dependent resource’s manifest and documentation for the required library version, framework bridge and startup order. If two packages require incompatible versions, select a supported release combination rather than replacing files until errors disappear.

Operational advice

Keep libraries near the top of your resource startup order, before resources that import them. After an update, test every menu, callback, progress interaction and notification used by jobs and administration. A library update can affect many unrelated features at once, so change it in staging and record the previous version for rollback.

6. oxmysql: persistence for serious servers

Where it fits

oxmysql is a common database connector for resources that persist jobs, vehicles, housing, inventories or economy data. It is not a complete data model: each resource still defines its tables, queries and migrations.

Requirements to verify

  • A supported MySQL or MariaDB server and a dedicated database account.
  • Correct connection credentials and network permissions.
  • Migration files for every resource that creates or changes tables.
  • Backup and restore procedures tested before a schema update.
  • Compatibility between query syntax, character sets and the resource’s expected columns.

Protect the data layer

Never treat a successful server boot as proof that persistence works. Create a character, buy an item, store a vehicle, disconnect, restart the server and confirm that each record returns. Review logs for failed queries and test a backup restore on a separate database before applying major updates.

7. ox_target or qb-target: choose one interaction API

What target resources change

Target systems replace or supplement proximity prompts with contextual interactions on entities, zones and locations. They can restrict options by job, item, grade or distance and make dense roleplay scenes easier to use.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How to choose

Choose ox_target or qb-target according to the interaction API expected by the rest of your stack. Converting every script from one target export to another may require editing zones, entity handlers and permission checks. A bridge can help, but verify that it supports all interaction types used by your jobs and shops.

Test the edges

  • Enter and leave a zone repeatedly without duplicate prompts.
  • Check job and grade restrictions with authorized and unauthorized characters.
  • Test vehicles, NPCs, props and networked entities after a resource restart.
  • Confirm that interactions disappear when an entity is deleted or a player moves out of range.

8. txAdmin recipes and tools: repeatable deployment

Why administration belongs in a script guide

txAdmin is the official-style administration workflow commonly used to deploy and manage FiveM servers. Framework recipes can install a baseline stack, configure resources and establish a repeatable starting point.

Use recipes carefully

  1. Choose a recipe that explicitly names the framework and inspect the resources and versions it installs.
  2. Record the recipe revision, server artifact version and configuration values before deployment.
  3. Run the recipe on a staging instance and verify database credentials, resource order and permissions.
  4. Confirm which resources are pinned and which can update independently.
  5. Make a backup of the generated configuration and database before adding custom scripts.

A recipe is a starting point, not a compatibility guarantee. Remove unused resources, document every change and avoid replacing a working dependency with a different fork without testing the entire stack.

9. A framework-specific job or economy resource

Pick the gameplay loop first

Police, medical, mechanic, business, housing and economy resources are where framework decisions become visible to players. Select a package only after defining the workflow it must support: hiring, ranks, payroll, shared accounts, evidence, vehicles, storage, dispatch, crafting or property ownership.

Compatibility matrix

Question What to confirm before installation
Framework Native ESX, QBCore or Qbox support, or a documented bridge
Inventory Required item names, metadata and stash APIs
Interaction ox_target, qb-target, proximity prompts or another API
Database Connector, tables, migrations and persistence behavior
Voice and dispatch Supported voice, radio or dispatch integrations, if required
Updates Release cadence, changelog, issue channel and migration notes

Control the blast radius

Install one core job at a time. Test permissions, payment, item consumption, vehicle storage, logout and restart behavior with multiple roles. If the package changes shared tables or player data, take a database backup and document how to remove it before enabling it on production.

10. A paid specialist resource from a verified storefront

When paying can be justified

Paid resources can make sense for a specialist feature such as housing, police systems, dispatch, an inventory interface or a deeply integrated business system. The price is only one part of the decision: a well-supported package can reduce development time, while a poorly documented one can become an expensive dependency.

Checks before purchase

  1. Read the official documentation, requirements and installation steps in full.
  2. Confirm exact framework, inventory, target, library and database compatibility.
  3. Understand licensing, escrow restrictions, account binding, machine limits and transfer rules.
  4. Check how updates are delivered and whether old configurations or database migrations are supported.
  5. Verify the support channel, response expectations and refund terms shown by the storefront.
  6. Install on staging, test core workflows and confirm that the package can be removed or disabled safely.

Tebex is a standard FiveM monetisation platform and a common storefront for premium resources. A storefront listing is not a substitute for technical documentation; read the vendor’s installation and compatibility notes before buying.

How to evaluate any FiveM script before it reaches production

1. Map the dependency graph

Write every required resource in a simple chain: framework, database connector, shared library, inventory, target, voice, UI and specialist feature. Mark each dependency as required, optional, bridged or unknown. A script that appears inexpensive can demand several additional resources and conversion hours.

2. Inspect the release and support history

Look for recent releases, readable changelogs, migration instructions and an issue or support channel. A high feature count does not compensate for abandoned updates when the framework, game artifacts or database behavior changes.

3. Separate claims from measurements

Descriptions such as “optimized” or “low resmon” are claims unless accompanied by reproducible measurements. No universal FiveM script benchmark establishes a performance winner across frameworks. Measure your own staging server with the intended player count, artifact, OneSync configuration and resource set.

4. Test persistence and recovery

Test fresh character creation, reconnects, server restarts, database restoration, resource restarts and a failed update. Include edge cases such as full inventories, deleted vehicles, revoked jobs and interrupted transactions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Read the resource manifest

FiveM supports C#, Lua and JavaScript, and the official scripting reference covers resource manifests, OneSync, state bags and client/server functions. The manifest and documentation reveal required files, dependencies and runtime expectations. Do not assume that a package written in one language follows the same debugging or configuration patterns as another.

Installation workflow for a safer 2026 stack

  1. Freeze the baseline. Record the server artifact, framework revision, database connector, inventory, target, library and current configuration.
  2. Create staging. Use a separate database and test server so migrations and resource conflicts cannot affect live characters.
  3. Install the framework first. Verify that a new character can join, load, receive a job and save data.
  4. Add shared dependencies. Install the database connector, library, inventory and target in the order required by their documentation.
  5. Apply migrations. Run each SQL migration against staging, inspect created tables and test a backup restore.
  6. Add one feature resource. Configure it, start the server and test its complete workflow before adding another package.
  7. Review logs and network behavior. Fix missing exports, event errors, failed queries and permission leaks rather than suppressing warnings.
  8. Document the final stack. Keep versions, startup order, configuration changes, licenses and rollback instructions in one place.
  9. Promote deliberately. Back up production, schedule maintenance, apply the same versions and run smoke tests after deployment.

Common problems and practical fixes

A resource starts but features do nothing

Check the console for missing exports, then compare the required framework, inventory, target and library versions with the installed stack. A successful resource start only proves that the process loaded; it does not prove that player, database or interaction APIs match.

Items or jobs disappear after migration

Stop writes, restore the pre-migration backup on staging and compare item names, metadata, job grades and database columns. Convert schemas with the resource’s documented migration process instead of manually renaming fields in production.

Interactions are duplicated or unavailable

Look for two target systems running together, duplicate zone registration or a script calling the wrong target export. Disable the unused target resource and verify that each zone is registered once after a restart.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Updates create a chain of new errors

Restore the previous known-good version, read the changelog for breaking changes and update dependencies in a controlled sequence. Record the working combination so you can reproduce it while converting configurations or database tables.

Performance complaints have no clear cause

Capture resource timings and server logs in staging, then disable optional resources one at a time. Compare like-for-like configurations; changing the framework, inventory and specialist scripts simultaneously makes a result impossible to attribute.

Which stack should you choose?

Your situation Most defensible starting point Reason
New roleplay server with no legacy content QBCore or Qbox after a migration and dependency audit Lets you choose a coherent modern stack instead of converting old resources later
Existing ESX server with many working resources ESX Legacy Preserves content and staff knowledge while you improve individual components
Inventory is the main pain point Evaluate ox_inventory against your current inventory Item schemas and persistence determine the migration cost
Many resources need common menus and utilities ox_lib where all critical dependents support it Shared APIs can simplify maintenance, but version alignment is essential
Data reliability is the priority oxmysql or the connector required by your chosen resources Backups, migrations and tested persistence matter more than connector branding
You need repeatable deployment txAdmin recipe followed by documented configuration Recipes reduce setup drift but do not remove compatibility testing
You need one flagship specialist feature A documented paid resource from a verified storefront Support and licensing can justify cost when the feature is central to retention

Final buying checklist

  • Does the resource match your exact framework and version?
  • Are inventory, target, library, database and voice dependencies documented?
  • Are migrations and rollback steps supplied?
  • Is the update history active enough for your maintenance schedule?
  • Are performance statements measured, or merely marketing claims?
  • Does the license allow your server count, hosting arrangement and staff access?
  • Can you test it with a separate database before production?
  • Do you have a support channel and a known-good version to restore?

The strongest 2026 FiveM stack is coherent rather than fashionable. Choose the framework first, make dependencies explicit, test persistence and interactions in staging, and buy specialist resources only when their documentation and licensing fit the way your team operates.
