Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ranked first among U.S. games in 2024 by reported full-game dollar sales. EA Sports College Football 25 placed second, followed by Helldivers II. This is a sales-value ranking—not a count of copies sold—and its digital coverage has several stated gaps.
The 20 best-selling games of 2024 in the U.S.
The ranking below is based on Circana data reproduced by GamesMarket in its January 27, 2025 report. It measures U.S. full-game dollar sales, combining physical sales with covered full-game digital sales from Nintendo eShop, PlayStation, Steam and Xbox for publishers in Circana’s Digital Leader Panel. Add-on spending is excluded. It is not a worldwide ranking, a complete census of every digital sale, or a list of copies sold.

What the top three tell us
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 took the top spot
Black Ops 6 finished first by reported U.S. full-game dollar sales. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella said the Call of Duty franchise led U.S. full-game sales, excluding add-ons, for a record 16th consecutive year, according to his statement reproduced in GamesMarket’s report.
#1 Best Overall
- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
College Football 25 was the highest-ranked sports title
EA Sports College Football 25 ranked second overall. The report also identifies it as the top game on Xbox platforms and describes it as the best-selling sports video game in U.S. history under this full-game dollar-sales measure. That distinction uses the same sales-value basis; it does not mean the game sold the most units.
Helldivers II placed third
Helldivers II took third, ahead of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero and NBA 2K25. The chart establishes their order by reported dollar sales, not the size of the gap between them.
Rank #2

How to interpret a dollar-sales ranking
A dollar-sales chart ranks the reported value of full-game purchases. It does not rank units, players, hours played or total franchise revenue. A title with a higher average selling price or premium editions could rank above a game that sold more copies; this chart does not provide the information needed to compare unit sales.
Its digital figures also reflect covered platform and publisher data rather than every digital storefront and publisher. The individual exceptions are listed in the table, so a lower rank—or a title’s absence—should not be treated as proof of lower total sales across all channels.
Rank #3
- New stages and fighters are joined by the combined rosters of every past Super Smash Bros. Game
- Challenge others anytime, anywhere, whether you're on the couch or on the go
- Play any way you want—locally, online, in TV mode, Tabletop mode, Handheld mode, or even with GameCube Controllers
- Fight faster and smarter with new and returning techniques, like the perfect shield and directional air dodge
- Face off in 2-4 player battles, or play against the computer
What the list does not measure
The 2024 ranking is separate from Circana’s broader estimates of U.S. industry spending. Piscatella’s January 2025 year-end figures put total U.S. consumer spending on computer and video games at $58.7 billion, down 1.1% from 2023, and hardware spending at $4.9 billion, down 25%. GamesMarket separately reports $50.64 billion in U.S. video-game content spending, up 2%. These are market-wide reported estimates, not inputs that determine any individual game’s position in the top 20.
