For a glass mousepad, choose non-glass skates with explicit glass-surface guidance. UHMW-PE is the strongest durability-oriented starting point in these manufacturer listings; hardened-PTFE Obsidian variants are positioned for more control, and foam-backed options are aimed at reducing noise. No independent, like-for-like test establishes one universal winner, so the best choice depends on your mouse’s base, preferred feel, and the exact skate variant.
Top five skates for glass mousepads
These five options are selected by stated use case, not ranked by measured performance. Product guidance and specifications below come from the manufacturers; availability and listings can change.
| Option | Material and format | Manufacturer-stated use | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Raypad Titanium U9 | UHMW-PE; product listing should be checked for the intended format and fit | X-Raypad recommends it for glass and says it is 9.2-million molecular-weight UHMW-PE, not PTFE. X-Raypad FAQ | A durability-oriented choice |
| X-Raypad Obsidian PRO Air U-PE | UHMW-PE universal dots, D6.5 mm and approximately 0.9 mm thick; foam-backed. A separate donut format is listed at 9.5 mm and approximately 0.9 mm. | X-Raypad’s catalog describes these variants as glass optimized. Dot count and placement are adjustable. X-Raypad skate catalog | UHMW-PE glide with a foam layer and flexible placement |
| Pulsar UHMW-PE dots | 16 dots; each is 6.6 mm in diameter and 0.9 mm thick | Pulsar says they are designed for glass or hard pads and that changing dot count can adjust friction. Pulsar product page | A dimensioned universal-dot option, if the mouse base has room |
| X-Raypad Obsidian hardened-PTFE dots or donuts | Hardened PTFE; universal dot and donut formats | X-Raypad lists these variants for cloth and glass and positions the Obsidian line for braking and control. Check the chosen listing for dimensions. X-Raypad skate catalog | Control-oriented feel rather than a maximum-glide priority |
| X-Raypad Obsidian Air | Foam-backed dots or donuts; the foam is described as microporous polyurethane | X-Raypad lists universal variants as suitable for glass and says the foam layer is intended to absorb noise. X-Raypad skate catalog | A quieter, control-oriented option |
How to choose by feel and material
For durability-oriented glide: UHMW-PE
X-Raypad recommends Titanium U9 for glass and identifies it as UHMW-PE. The company claims it lasts 6–9 times longer than standard skates; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independent wear test. X-Raypad also says standard PTFE may show wear within weeks on glass, likewise as its own guidance. X-Raypad FAQ
The Obsidian PRO Air U-PE and Pulsar dots are other UHMW-PE choices, but their universal format makes placement and mouse-base clearance part of the decision.
#1 Best Overall
- High-Density UHMW-PE Material– Made from high-density UHMW-PE, specifically designed for glass mousepads. It offers greater durability than standard UHMW-PE, significantly extending lifespan and maintaining smooth performance on glass surfaces.
- Ultra-Control Glide – The mouse moves smoothly at the start, allowing for effortless initial control, while the overall glide speed remains slow, providing excellent precision and stable movement.
- Silent Design – Minimizes noise during movement while maintaining smooth, controlled gliding for enhanced gaming performance.
- Universal Fit – 40 pieces of 6.5mm dots fit any gaming mouse, offering flexible placement options to freely adjust mouse glide.
- Easy to Install & Maintain – Includes two cleaning wipes and a removal tool. Simply clean the surface, place the skates, and press for 10 seconds to adhere securely.
For more braking or control: hardened PTFE Obsidian
X-Raypad positions hardened-PTFE Obsidian dots and donuts as control-oriented and lists them for glass. Do not treat every product called “Obsidian” as the same skate: Obsidian PRO Air is UHMW-PE, while the control dots and donuts are hardened PTFE.
For reduced skate noise: foam-backed variants
Obsidian PRO Air combines UHMW-PE with a foam layer, while Obsidian Air is a separate foam-backed, control-oriented variant. X-Raypad describes Obsidian Air’s microporous polyurethane foam as noise-absorbing. Its stated glide-speed comparisons among Obsidian variants are based on the company’s AC PRO MID cloth pad, not a glass pad, so they do not establish relative speed on glass. X-Raypad skate catalog

Check safety and compatibility before buying
Avoid glass or ceramic skates on glass
Glass-pad makers reviewed advise against glass-on-glass contact. VOICSKY recommends PTFE for everyday use and UHMW-PE for maximum glide on its SKY PRO surface, and warns that glass or ceramic skates may cause excess wear, scratching, or damage. VOICSKY SKY PRO guidance Corsair’s MM Glass listing recommends PTFE or UPE and similarly cautions against glass feet because they may wear the feet, pad, or both. Corsair MM Glass listing
Verify fit, thickness, and placement
Model-specific skates should match the mouse model and skate recess. Universal dots are not guaranteed to fit every mouse. Before removing the old feet, inspect the mouse base and sensor ring, confirm there is enough flat area and clearance for the replacement’s thickness, and check the exact dot or donut dimensions. Pulsar’s listed dots are 6.6 mm across and 0.9 mm thick; verify those measurements suit your mouse base. Pulsar product page

Confirm the exact variant’s glass guidance
Names within one brand can conceal meaningful material differences. X-Raypad lists Obsidian options for glass but marks Jade universal PTFE dots as unsuitable for glass. Do not infer surface compatibility from the family name alone; check the specific variant’s listing. X-Raypad skate catalog
Adjust universal dot count cautiously
X-Raypad says fewer dots increase speed and more dots slow movement; Pulsar likewise says dot count can adjust friction. These are vendor instructions, not standardized comparative measurements. Follow the product’s placement guidance and keep the skates evenly supported on the mouse base. X-Raypad skate catalog Pulsar product page
