In Total War: WARHAMMER III, each Legendary Lord has campaign goals and mechanics of their own, but campaigns share a broad rhythm: expand, develop territory and armies, use your faction’s systems to gain an advantage, and meet the victory conditions for your Lord and mode. There is no single resource or objective list that applies to every faction. Treat the in-game objectives and current faction tooltips as authoritative for your campaign; older general guidance is only a baseline.
What are the goals for each faction in Total War: Warhammer III?
Your selected Legendary Lord determines which faction you lead and shapes the campaign goals you pursue. The official game manual gives a useful common foundation: campaigns involve capturing regions and holding provinces. It also says that each Legendary Lord has faction-tailored quests. Those quests are optional in the manual’s description, although completing them successfully can provide powerful rewards.

A quest can be valuable without being a required victory condition, and a territory objective should not be assumed to describe every requirement for every Lord. The exact victory checklist depends on the Lord and campaign mode. The manual’s territorial framework is a starting point for understanding campaigns, not a current checklist for every faction.

Immortal Empires objectives are Lord-specific
Immortal Empires is the large-scale combined campaign, bringing together landmasses, Legendary Lords and units from across the Total War: WARHAMMER series. SEGA’s support page dates its release to August 23, 2022. Creative Assembly later described a revision to its victory conditions, with the aim of giving each Lord or faction loreful objectives and, where possible, incorporating that faction’s or culture’s unique mechanics.

That design goal helps explain why two campaigns may ask you to pursue different kinds of outcomes. It does not, by itself, establish the current objectives for every Lord. Check the victory information shown for your chosen campaign rather than relying on a list written for an earlier version.
Quests, objectives and victory conditions are not synonyms
- Victory conditions are the requirements the game sets for winning the campaign you selected.
- Faction or campaign objectives give direction to your plans and may reflect a Lord’s identity or unique systems. Their exact role can vary.
- Quests are Lord-specific tasks. The manual describes these as optional and notes that they can offer powerful rewards.
Use the in-game campaign information to see which tasks are required, which are optional, and what rewards are attached. Do not assume that completing every quest is necessary to win, or that a quest reward changes the campaign’s formal victory requirements.
What resources does each faction use?
There is no universal faction currency or resource list. Factions have distinct campaign features, and the resource or special system available to one faction should not be presumed to exist—or work the same way—for another. SEGA’s launch-era FAQ points readers toward faction mechanics overviews, while the official manual confirms that races have distinct campaign features. Those general materials do not provide a complete, current table of every faction’s resource, cost and unlock.

How to read a faction mechanic before spending or planning around it
- Open the current campaign information for your faction. Read the relevant on-screen descriptions and tooltips rather than importing advice from another faction or an older Total War game.
- Identify what the system actually tracks. Note whether it is a spendable amount, a progress measure, a stance, an unlock condition or another kind of mechanic. Use the game’s own wording.
- Check what it enables and what it costs. Read the listed effects, requirements and costs before committing resources or changing your plan. If a value or requirement is not shown clearly, do not assume it.
- Connect it to your objective. Ask whether using the mechanic helps you meet a victory requirement, complete an optional quest, strengthen your position or solve an immediate campaign problem.
- Recheck after updates or when changing campaigns. Mechanics and objectives can be revised, and advice for another Lord, mode or version may not apply to the campaign on your screen.
Why a faction-by-faction resource table can mislead
A table is useful only if its entries are verified for the relevant version. Naming a resource without explaining whether it is spent, accumulated, maintained or tied to a specific effect can give the wrong impression. The same is true of costs and unlocks: an unqualified number can be misleading if it belongs to a different Lord, mode or game update.
When comparing factions, use the current game UI or up-to-date official faction material to record each mechanic’s name, function, cost and effect. Until those details are verified, compare factions by the kinds of questions you will need to answer—how their objectives work, what their special systems enable, and how those systems affect your decisions—rather than by a purported complete resource list.
How does campaign progression work?
Think of progression as a set of linked decisions rather than one universal script. You begin with a Lord and faction, identify the campaign’s goals, develop your position and armies, and use the faction’s particular mechanics while working toward the victory conditions. This is a practical way to organize play, not a claim that every faction follows the same sequence or unlocks the same milestones.

1. Establish the goal before choosing your next move
Start by reading the victory conditions and any faction objectives presented for your selected Lord and mode. Separate required outcomes from optional quests. If a quest offers a powerful reward, decide whether its benefit justifies the effort and detour; its optional status does not make it irrelevant, but it does mean you can weigh it against other priorities.

2. Build a position that supports the goal
The manual’s common territorial foundation—capturing regions and holding provinces—shows why expansion and keeping territory matter to the campaign. Your decisions about territory, development and armies should support the goals shown in your campaign, rather than follow a generic checklist detached from your starting situation. The material available here does not establish a universal build order, economy plan or army composition for all factions.
3. Use the faction’s mechanics as part of the plan
Where a faction’s special system creates an advantage or is tied to its objectives, work it into your decisions instead of treating it as a separate minigame. Creative Assembly has said that Immortal Empires’ revised victory design aims, where possible, to include unique faction or culture mechanics. That does not mean every mechanic is a victory requirement, or that every Lord’s system functions in the same way. Check the campaign and mechanic descriptions for the actual relationship.
4. Adjust as your objectives and position change
Campaigns involve turn-based planning, so reassess your priorities as you expand, complete tasks or encounter new constraints. The useful question is not simply “What can I do this turn?” but “Which available action best supports my required objective, protects the position I need to keep, or makes a valuable optional reward attainable?” This keeps local choices connected to the campaign’s larger goal without assuming a fixed sequence for every faction.
Which campaign mode are you playing?
Do not treat Realm of Chaos and Immortal Empires as interchangeable labels. The mode is part of the context for objectives and campaign advice, so identify it before using a guide or comparing victory requirements. The information here supports a specific description of Immortal Empires; it does not provide a full Realm of Chaos objective list.

Creative Assembly’s statement describes an objective-design aim, not a promise that every campaign’s requirements will use the same structure. The in-game list remains the practical reference for the campaign you are playing.
What should I do first in a new campaign?
Before committing to a long-term plan, make a quick pass through the campaign information and your faction’s current mechanics. These checks help you avoid two common mistakes: pursuing an optional task as if it were mandatory, and assuming that a familiar mechanic works the same way for a different Lord.
- Confirm the Lord and campaign mode. Advice only applies if it matches both. Note the mode before searching for objective guidance.
- Read the victory conditions. Identify the requirements you must meet to win. Note territorial requirements separately from optional quests.
- Review faction objectives and quests. Check what each task asks you to do and what reward it offers. Decide which optional tasks support your broader plan.
- Inspect the faction’s special systems. Read current tooltips for each mechanic you expect to use. Record what it tracks, what it enables and any listed cost or condition.
- Set an initial priority. Choose an action that supports a required objective, develops territory or an army you need, or earns a worthwhile optional reward. The best choice depends on the objectives and mechanics shown for that campaign.
- Revisit the plan as the campaign develops. Update your priorities when a requirement is met, a quest is completed or your faction’s circumstances change.
How to choose between factions without a misleading ranking
There is no well-supported universal “best faction” answer here. The relevant differences depend on the Lord, the campaign mode, current objectives and the mechanics you find enjoyable or manageable. Without current, faction-specific evidence for every candidate, ranking them by resource, difficulty or victory speed would create false precision.

A useful comparison should cover the campaign goal type, the faction’s unique resource or mechanic and what it enables, its starting position and strategic constraints, its army roster and battle style, and how its mechanics affect early and later decisions. Verify those details in the current game or current official faction material, and compare like with like: the same campaign mode and game version.

Version, updates and content access
Faction objectives and mechanics are version-sensitive. The manual is useful for the basic distinction between territorial victory, optional quests and Lord-specific features, but it predates later Immortal Empires victory-condition revisions. For a precise objective list or a resource cost, rely on the current campaign rather than treating the manual as an up-to-date catalogue.
Warhammer Community announced on August 13, 2026, that Lords of the End Times would arrive on September 24, 2026, with four Legendary Lords, new units, gameplay updates and revised victory conditions for many Lords. The announcement also said that buyers of an individual Lords of the End Times DLC character or the full bundle would receive Immortal Empires access without needing an earlier Total War: WARHAMMER game. Because ownership terms and availability can change, check the current platform or official store listing before making a purchase decision; the announcement alone should not be treated as confirmation of current terms.
Access depends on the game and add-ons you own. Confirm which Lord or faction is included in the edition or add-on you are considering, and check the current store listing for platform-specific details. Do not assume a purchase term announced for one release applies indefinitely or to unrelated content.
Where to verify a detail the guide cannot settle
- Victory requirements: use the current in-game campaign information for your selected Lord and mode.
- Quest status and rewards: inspect the individual quest rather than assuming it is part of the victory checklist.
- Mechanic names, costs and effects: read the current faction tooltips and official faction material. General manuals and launch-era FAQs are not a complete current resource catalogue.
