Trials Rising Reviews: Is the Motorcycle Platformer Worth Playing?

Trials Rising rewards careful throttle and balance control across challenging motorcycle courses, but progression and online concerns make platform-specific expectations worth checking.

Trials Rising is worth a look if you enjoy precision platforming built around a motorcycle: progress comes from mastering throttle and rider balance, not simply holding the accelerator. Its tracks and demanding riding are the main draw; progression friction and online-play limitations were among the concerns in one contemporary review. Whether that trade-off works for you depends on how much you enjoy repeating a course to get cleaner, faster runs.

What kind of game is Trials Rising?

Trials Rising turns motorcycle riding into a physics-based platform challenge. Each course is a sequence of jumps, steep inclines and obstacles, and small changes to throttle or the rider’s balance can determine whether you land cleanly or lose momentum. Ubisoft’s official game page describes the game and its content.

The appeal is the close connection between input and outcome: a successful run feels earned because you learn how to handle each obstacle, rather than relying on speed alone. The same precision can make the game demanding. Expect to practise difficult sections and refine your technique as the courses ask more of you.

Is Trials Rising hard, and does the difficulty feel fair?

It is designed to challenge players, with increasingly demanding techniques and obstacles. That makes the learning curve central to the experience: the game is most satisfying when a failed attempt teaches you how to adjust your approach and a later run puts that lesson into practice.

Trials Rising - Gold Edition PS4
  • Competition is all over the globe with fun and elaborate tracks located across several continents. Whether it’s finding the perfect line in a smoldering caldera in the wilds of Yellowstone Park, doing triple backflips off the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or navigating massive drops on Mount Everest with snow storms looming, the thrills are endless.
  • From local backyard competitions to the biggest stadiums on the world stage, you will ride against other players as fully visualized ghosts or in real-time local and online multiplayer
  • Starting from humble beginnings, you’ll improve your skills, grow your fame and rise in the ranks as you beat the competition.
  • Players will now have the freedom to customize and share any outfit or bike skin they want, resulting in endless possibilities. In addition to the outfit and bike customization editor, the legendary Trials Track Editor comes back bigger than ever.
  • Trials Rising adds an exciting new local multiplayer mode with the Tandem Bike. Two riders, each contributing fifty percent of the power and balance, ride together on one bike.

If you want a relaxed ride through forgiving levels, the repeated attempts may feel like friction. If you enjoy learning a precise control system and improving through repetition, the challenge is part of the reward. The available review evidence does not establish a universal verdict on how well the tutorials teach every technique, so consider the difficulty a real feature of the game rather than assuming it will suit every player.

How much content and replay value does it offer?

Track variety matters in a game built around mastering individual courses. The PlayStation listing advertises over 125 tracks; that is publisher/store copy, not an independently verified count. The sheer number is only part of the value: the central loop encourages replaying courses to improve your handling and runs.

Ubisoft and Steam product pages can help you check the content and edition details for the storefront where you plan to buy. The evidence here does not establish that every edition includes the same additional content, so check the specific listing rather than treating a track figure or DLC as guaranteed across all versions.

What do Trials Rising reviews say?

Reviews should be read by source and platform, not collapsed into a single all-platform verdict. Metacritic’s retrieved PC critic page listed 55 critic reviews, a platform-specific snapshot rather than a current universal score. Steam’s English-language page showed 1,574 user reviews, with 61% positive, in the snapshot retrieved on October 8, 2026; that live store metric can change. A contemporary PS4 review from MeriStation praised the core riding and course content while criticizing progression friction, loot boxes and online limitations. Those are that outlet’s findings, not proof that every player or platform has the same experience. The useful dividing line is whether precise riding and replayable courses matter more to you than a smooth progression structure and online features.

Does multiplayer or progression add lasting value?

Multiplayer and progression may extend the experience, but the available evidence does not support a detailed platform-by-platform comparison of online features, stability or performance. MeriStation’s PS4 review specifically raised concerns about online limitations and progression friction. Treat those as a reason to look closely at the platform and edition you intend to play, rather than assuming that online play is equally strong everywhere.

Chronos: Before the Ashes - PlayStation 4 (PS4)
  • Adventure RPG - refreshing combination of adventure game elements and RPG mechanics
  • deep combat - A variety of weapons, abilities and powers are available to the player in the pursuit of their quest
  • unique aging mechanic - every time the player dies they Age one year. Players must adapt to their advancing Age as they progress their character
  • starting the game young, nimble and quick, and ending wise and more attuned to magic

That same review criticized loot boxes. This is a dated critic’s assessment of the PS4 version, not a current, comprehensive account of every platform’s monetization. If progression systems or optional purchases are a deciding factor for you, consult the relevant current store listing and platform-specific reviews before buying.

What should you check before buying?

  • Platform and edition: Check the exact product listing for the system you own and the content included with that edition.
  • DLC storefront: Ubisoft says DLC bought through Ubisoft.com or Ubisoft Connect is compatible only with base games bought through those platforms. Match the DLC storefront to the storefront used for the base game; do not assume a Ubisoft-store DLC purchase will work with a base game from another store.
  • What matters most to you: Choose it for technical riding, obstacle-course mastery and replaying tracks to improve. Be more cautious if progression friction or online limitations would undermine your enjoyment.
