The page titled “9 big announcements from the Triple-i Initiative indie game showcase” was published on February 18, 2026—before the 2026 showcase took place on April 9. Its nine purported announcements therefore cannot be treated as a recap of that event. The verified picture is that the studio-led showcase aired on April 9 and featured news on 40 indie games, according to event-day coverage.
Why the nine-announcement list is unreliable
The GeekChamp page matching the title is dated February 18, 2026. The Triple-i Initiative’s official event listing scheduled its showcase for April 9, 2026, and GamesBeat reported on April 9 that the third showcase had aired. A page published weeks before the event cannot establish what was announced during it. The official event listing and GamesBeat’s event-day report provide the relevant dates and context.

The GeekChamp article names nine games and gives descriptions, platforms, and release windows, but those claims are not corroborated as 2026 showcase announcements by the reviewed official listing or event-day coverage. They should not be repeated as verified results. The date conflict is enough to disqualify the page as evidence of what aired; it does not, by itself, establish why or how the page was published.
What the 2026 showcase coverage does establish
The Triple-i Initiative is a studio-led showcase built around back-to-back trailers, world premieres, exclusive gameplay, launch-date news, and demo drops, as described on its official Epic Games Store event page. Before the event, that page said 40 game announcements were expected. That is the organizer’s preview count, not an independently audited final tally.

On April 9, GamesBeat reported that the third showcase had aired and brought news on 40 indie games, including new reveals, DLC, release information, demos, and playtests. Its roundup links to title-by-title coverage and related materials, making it a better starting point for identifying the event’s actual announcements than the pre-event nine-item page.
Don’t confuse the 2026 event with the 2025 showcase
The Triple-i Initiative also held a showcase in 2025. GameSpot’s recap, “Triple-I Initiative 2025: Everything Announced At The Showcase”, is dated April 10, 2025 and covers that separate event. Its announcements should not be used to fill gaps in a 2026 recap.

How to check a claimed showcase announcement
- Check the publication and event dates. A recap must have been published after the event to serve as evidence of what aired.
- Confirm the item in event-day coverage. Look for a title in the event roundup or its linked coverage, and identify whether the news was a reveal, DLC, release date, demo, playtest, or platform announcement.
- Verify the specific claim with the developer or publisher. A game’s presence in a showcase does not, by itself, confirm every platform, release window, or feature a third-party recap attributes to it.
For the nine-item page in question, the first check fails: its February 18 publication date precedes the April 9, 2026 event. The list is therefore not a reliable account of that showcase.
