MythicOwl says Truckful runs at a steady 60 fps on high settings through most of the game on Steam Deck. That is the developer’s October 6, 2026 report—not an independent benchmark—and the game was still awaiting Valve’s official Deck Verified rating at that date. There is no Truckful-specific testing to rank Steam Deck against ROG Ally, Legion Go, or other handheld PCs.
What the latest Steam Deck result actually says
Truckful’s developer, MythicOwl, reported on October 6, 2026 that it had extensively tested the game on Steam Deck since the project was announced in 2024. The studio also demonstrated builds on the device at PAX East and PAX West. Its stated result was “Truckful maintaining a steady 60fps on high settings throughout most of the game!”

Three qualifications matter. First, this is a developer-reported observation rather than a published test by an independent reviewer. Second, “throughout most of the game” does not mean a locked 60 fps in every scene, menu, loading transition, or future build. Third, the statement describes high settings; it does not establish how much battery life the Deck uses, what frame-time consistency looks like, or what happens at the busiest moments.
MythicOwl also says adjustable quality settings are available for Linux devices that struggle. That gives Deck owners a way to trade visual detail for steadier performance if a particular scene, update, or power profile causes drops.

How the claim changed from the earlier FAQ
An earlier MythicOwl FAQ dated September 22, 2026 described Truckful as optimized for Linux-based handhelds, including Steam Deck. The team said it was aiming for a Verified rating at launch and forecast “+40/60fps during most scenes.” The same FAQ said 30 fps at high detail should be achievable on the published minimum PC specifications.
The October 6 update is the stronger and newer evidence because it describes testing already performed on Steam Deck rather than a launch target. The older figures remain useful as context for lower-end hardware, but they should not be presented as a universal result for every handheld or every scene.
| Date and source | Statement | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| September 22, 2026, MythicOwl FAQ | Optimized for Linux handhelds; target of “+40/60fps during most scenes”; 30 fps at high detail expected on minimum PC specifications. | Development expectation, not a device-by-device measurement. |
| October 6, 2026, MythicOwl update | Steady 60 fps on high settings through most of Truckful on Steam Deck. | Latest direct report, but still a studio claim and not an unconditional frame-rate lock. |
Deck Verified is separate from frame rate
At the time of the October 6 update, MythicOwl said it was still waiting for Steam’s official green-tick rating. Truckful therefore should not be described as Deck Verified solely because the developer is targeting that status or reports good performance.
Valve’s Verified program evaluates compatibility and usability conditions. These include whether the game operates cleanly, whether controller navigation works without requiring a mouse or keyboard, and whether the game and its Proton or system components behave as expected. A Verified label is not a promise of 60 fps, a particular graphics preset, or a fixed battery-runtime figure.
Conversely, a pending or absent rating does not prove that Truckful performs poorly. It means the formal review status had not been confirmed in the cited update. Ratings and review information can change after a game update, so check the current compatibility section on the Steam store page before buying or installing.

Steam Deck LCD and OLED: what is and is not known
Valve’s Steam Deck support guidance covers both LCD and OLED models. MythicOwl’s performance statement does not separate the two versions, so the available evidence cannot show that one display model runs Truckful faster.
The OLED model can differ in screen characteristics, battery capacity, and other hardware details, but those general differences should not be turned into a Truckful-specific performance claim. Treat the reported 60 fps result as applying to Steam Deck testing in general, without assuming a separate advantage for OLED or a disadvantage for LCD.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat can be said about ROG Ally, Legion Go, and other handheld PCs?
No usable Truckful comparison benchmark was found for ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, or other named handheld PCs. That means there is no defensible frame-rate ranking such as “Ally is faster than Deck” or “Legion Go holds 60 fps more reliably” for this game.
A Steam community FAQ says a Linux handheld such as an ROG Ally running SteamOS “should be 100% good to go.” That is a compatibility expectation, not a measured Truckful test. It does not establish a frame rate, graphics preset, thermals, battery life, resolution, or frame-time behavior on that device.
| Handheld | Truckful-specific evidence available | What you should not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Steam Deck | MythicOwl reports steady 60 fps on high settings through most of the game. | Do not treat this as a guaranteed lock in every scene or as an independent benchmark. |
| Steam Deck LCD versus OLED | Valve’s support guidance covers both; MythicOwl gives no model split. | Do not claim an OLED-specific Truckful performance advantage. |
| ROG Ally | SteamOS compatibility is described as an expectation in a community FAQ. | Do not assign a Truckful fps number or rank it against Deck. |
| Legion Go | No usable Truckful-specific comparison result is established. | Do not extrapolate from unrelated games or general hardware specifications. |
| Other handheld PCs | No game-specific comparison figures are established. | Do not present a scorecard as if it were measured testing. |
Minimum PC requirements and why they do not predict handheld results
The indexed Steam listing gives these minimum Windows requirements:
Rank #3
- Operating System: SteamOS 3.0
| Requirement | Published minimum |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| Processor | 64-bit processor |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Graphics card with 2 GB VRAM; the listing specifies GeForce 900 series and above |
| Graphics API | DirectX 10 |
| Storage | 2 GB available space |
These are minimum PC specifications, not a Steam Deck profile and not a promise of a particular frame rate on any handheld. No separate recommended requirements were established in the listing. A device can meet the headline specifications and still vary in performance because of its operating system, power limit, resolution, cooling, drivers, and game settings.
How to set up Truckful on Steam Deck
The developer’s report gives Deck owners a sensible starting point: try the high preset, then use the game’s quality controls if performance is inconsistent. Use this procedure to separate a configuration issue from a hardware limit.
- Install the current build. Before judging performance, let Steam finish the game’s download and any available update. A later build may contain rendering or compatibility changes.
- Check the store compatibility panel. Look at the current Steam rating and any notes rather than relying on an older statement that the game was awaiting review.
- Start with high quality. This matches MythicOwl’s reported test condition. Play long enough to reach more than one type of scene instead of judging only the opening area.
- Watch for sustained behavior. Distinguish a brief dip during loading or a new area from repeated drops during ordinary play. “Most of the game” allows for isolated exceptions.
- Lower quality before changing everything else. If the frame rate is not steady, reduce the game’s available quality options one step at a time. Record which change helps so you can preserve image quality where it matters.
- Retest after each change. Return to the same demanding section when possible. This avoids mistaking a quieter scene for an improvement.
- Use a frame-rate cap only after testing. If the game offers a cap, choose a level that the Deck can maintain consistently rather than chasing a fluctuating peak. A stable lower target can feel better than irregular highs.
- Recheck after updates. Rendering changes can alter both frame rate and the usefulness of individual quality settings.
What to do if a lower-end Linux handheld struggles
Reduce visual quality in deliberate steps
MythicOwl specifically says quality settings exist for weaker Linux devices. Begin with the highest setting that remains stable, then reduce heavier options gradually. Avoid changing several settings simultaneously if you want to understand the cause of a drop.
Separate operating-system problems from game settings
A Linux handheld can have compatibility issues unrelated to raw graphics power. Check controller behavior, launch reliability, and whether the current Proton or system configuration is supported before concluding that the GPU is too slow. A device-specific compatibility expectation is not proof of a measured result.
Use the minimum requirements as a floor, not a target
The 30 fps expectation attached to the minimum PC specifications is a developer forecast for lower-end systems at high detail. It should not be read as a guarantee for every handheld that meets those specifications, nor as evidence that a faster handheld will always deliver a particular frame rate.

Choosing between handhelds when Truckful is the deciding game
If Truckful is the main reason you are buying a handheld, Steam Deck has the only game-specific performance statement currently available: MythicOwl reports 60 fps on high settings through most of the game. That makes Deck the least speculative choice for this particular title, while still requiring the caveats about developer testing and the pending Verified rating.
For an alternative handheld, make the decision using general device factors rather than an invented Truckful leaderboard:
- Operating system and compatibility layer: Determine whether you will run SteamOS, Windows, or another Linux setup, and whether controller and Proton behavior meet your needs.
- Power profile: Higher power limits can improve performance in some games but may reduce battery life and increase heat or fan noise. No Truckful-specific measurements establish the trade-off here.
- Screen resolution: A higher-resolution display can require more rendering work. Compare devices using the resolution you actually intend to play at, not only their maximum panel specification.
- Battery priorities: If long unplugged sessions matter more than maximum output, a stable lower frame-rate target may be preferable to a high-power mode.
- Controls and usability: Verify that the game is comfortable with the device’s controls and that any desktop-style input requirements are manageable.
- Current store status: Check the live Steam compatibility information because the rating and developer support can change.
Bottom line for each type of player
You already own a Steam Deck
Install Truckful and begin at high settings. The developer’s latest report gives you a reasonable expectation of 60 fps through most gameplay, with quality controls available if your experience differs. Treat any drops as a reason to adjust settings, not as proof that the entire game is poorly optimized.
You are choosing between Steam Deck LCD and OLED
There is no Truckful evidence showing one model is faster. Choose between them for display, battery, price, and general hardware preferences rather than a claimed game-specific performance gap.

You are considering ROG Ally, Legion Go, or another PC handheld
Do not buy on the assumption that this game has been benchmarked there. The available information supports a compatibility expectation for a SteamOS-based ROG Ally, but it does not provide comparable fps, settings, or battery data. Consider those devices only if their broader operating-system and power characteristics fit your library.
You have a low-end Linux handheld
The developer says adjustable quality settings are available, and the earlier FAQ projected 30 fps at high detail on minimum PC specifications. Plan to tune settings and judge the result on your own hardware rather than treating either figure as a guarantee.
