Alina Habba appeared at the October 2, 2023 opening of Donald Trump’s New York civil fraud trial with a laptop whose blue lighting was visible in the courtroom. Futurism described it as apparently an ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) machine, but neither the exact model nor its hardware was confirmed.
What happened in court
Trump attended the first day of his New York civil fraud trial on October 2, 2023. His lawyer, Alina Habba, was photographed or observed with a laptop showing changing lights, including a blue glow associated with gaming hardware. Futurism reported the scene on October 3, 2023.
The case context was substantial: Futurism said New York Attorney General Letitia James was seeking $250 million in damages at that point in the proceedings. That figure describes the 2023 reporting context, not the case’s current status.
What the laptop was—and was not
The ASUS ROG identification
The computer appeared to belong to ASUS’s Republic of Gamers line. ROG laptops commonly use illuminated keyboards, chassis lighting or underglow, which explains the “glowing ROG gaming laptop” description. The report did not include an owner confirmation, product documentation or an official identification.

Where the “2070ti” claim came from
Ryan Rigney, identified by Futurism as a marketing executive for the game Omega Strikers, posted: “gamer lawyer brought the 2070ti asus laptop with the blue underglow to the court hearing.” Futurism reproduced that wording while noting that the exact computer was unclear. The post is not proof that Habba’s laptop contained an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Ti—or that it was any particular ROG model.

Why the image drew attention
A brightly lit gaming laptop stood out against the formal setting of a high-profile civil trial. The contrast prompted online jokes and hardware detective work, but visual resemblance alone cannot establish a product model or graphics-card specification. The most accurate description remains an apparently ASUS ROG laptop with visible blue lighting.
