- “This application failed to start because u32tx.dll was not found.”
- “The file u32tx.dll is missing or corrupted.”
- “Error loading u32tx.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The program can’t start because u32tx.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
- “The procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library u32tx.dll.”
- “u32tx.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
The exact wording depends on the VideoStudio executable, Windows version, and whether the file itself is missing or another dependency failed while Windows was loading it.

The 60-second answer
u32tx.dll is associated with older Ulead VideoStudio, the product line later acquired and continued by Corel. It is an application DLL, not a normal Windows component.
Do not download a replacement from a random DLL website, copy it into System32, or start with regsvr32. First identify the executable showing the error, then repair or reinstall the exact Ulead or Corel VideoStudio version that owns it.

The file’s exact release cannot be identified from its name alone. Public file indexes commonly describe it as a 32-bit Win32 DLL associated with Ulead Systems, sometimes listing version 6.0.0.0 and a size of about 104 KB. Those details are not a current official Corel manifest, so use the installed product and its installer to determine compatibility.
Why u32tx.dll is missing
The most likely causes are:
- VideoStudio was incompletely installed or damaged.
- Antivirus software quarantined or removed the file.
- The application folder was moved, cleaned, or partly deleted.
- The wrong Ulead or Corel VideoStudio version is being used.
- A failed update left mixed application files.
- Disk corruption damaged the installation.
- The error actually names a second missing dependency.
- The older application is incompatible with the current Windows release.
The program name in the error dialog matters. If another application displays the message, do not assume that copying a VideoStudio DLL will fix it. Check the application’s executable path and identify which product launched the error.
Fix 1: Repair the exact VideoStudio installation
This is the safest and most likely solution.
Identify the affected program
- Read the complete error dialog and note the program name.
- Right-click the program’s shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, read Target.
- Look for
VideoStudio,Ulead, or another bundled Ulead product in the path. - If the error appears during startup, check Task Manager. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Details, and note the executable that appears when the error is triggered.
Next, inspect the application folder.
- Right-click the shortcut again and select Open file location.
- Search that folder for
u32tx.dll. - Check the Recycle Bin if the folder was recently cleaned.
- Do not copy a DLL from another computer or from a download site into the folder.
If the file is present but the error continues, the file may be the wrong version, damaged, or dependent on another missing DLL. Reinstalling the owning product is still preferable to replacing the file individually.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Use Windows’ repair option
- Press Windows key, type Control Panel, and open it.
- Select Programs and then Programs and Features.
- Select the affected Ulead or Corel VideoStudio entry.
- Choose Change, Repair, or a similarly named maintenance option.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows after the repair completes.
- Launch VideoStudio from its normal shortcut.
A successful repair should restore the application’s own files and allow the same executable to start without the DLL dialog. If repair is not available, continue with a clean reinstall.
Reinstall from trusted media
Before uninstalling, back up project files, custom templates, capture profiles, and other personal assets.
- Locate the original installer, owned installation media, or an official Corel installer for the same product release.
- Record the product key if the installer requires one.
- In Programs and Features, select VideoStudio and choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the original installer by right-clicking it and selecting Run as administrator.
- Install the same release that originally owned the affected executable.
- Apply the matching service pack or update if the vendor provides one for that release.
- Restart Windows again and test the application.
Do not assume that a current VideoStudio installer supplies files for an older Ulead release. A DLL from one VideoStudio generation may not be compatible with another.
Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove an old application DLL even when the rest of the program remains installed.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Open Start and select Settings.
- Choose Privacy & security on Windows 11, or Update & Security on Windows 10.
- Select Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
u32tx.dllor the VideoStudio installation folder. - Review the detection name, file path, and action taken.
Only restore the file when the original installation is trusted and the detection has been properly assessed. Microsoft warns that restoring a detected file can cause it to be detected again. If the file is quarantined, reinstalling VideoStudio from trusted media is usually safer than forcing the quarantined copy back into place.
Do not disable antivirus protection merely to copy an unknown DLL. If a fresh reinstall immediately loses u32tx.dll again, check Protection History and the antivirus logs before repeating the installation.
Fix 3: Confirm the application architecture
Older VideoStudio releases commonly used 32-bit application components, even when installed on 64-bit Windows. A 32-bit process normally searches its application directory and the appropriate 32-bit DLL search locations for dependencies.

This does not mean that C:WindowsSysWOW64 is a destination for manually copying the file. Do not place u32tx.dll in System32 or SysWOW64 unless the product’s installer explicitly does so.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo check whether the process is 32-bit:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Details.
- Right-click a column heading and choose Select columns.
- Enable Platform, if available.
- Check the VideoStudio process while it is running.
If the application will not stay open, inspect the installer or executable properties instead. The practical fix remains matching the DLL to the exact application version through its installer, not manually choosing an x86 or x64 file.
Fix 4: Check for a second missing dependency
A message mentioning u32tx.dll may be followed by another error naming a Microsoft runtime or another application DLL. Read every dialog carefully.
For example, VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll points to a Visual C++ runtime issue, not proof that u32tx.dll comes from Visual C++. Install or repair the official Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package that matches the application’s architecture. An older 32-bit VideoStudio program generally needs the x86 runtime, while a 64-bit program needs x64.
Installing both packages is appropriate only when the application’s dependencies require both. These packages do not create u32tx.dll.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components
Windows repair commands are secondary because u32tx.dll is not identified as a protected Windows file. Use them when several applications are failing, Windows system files are damaged, or the problem began after broader system corruption.
- Open Start and type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test VideoStudio again.
DISM should run before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test. If both commands complete without fixing VideoStudio, return to the application repair or reinstall process rather than copying a DLL into a system folder.
When manually tracking corrupted components means repeatedly running SFC and DISM without knowing what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for issues and show what needs attention; its repair functions require the full version. Reinstalling the VideoStudio release that owns u32tx.dll remains the definitive fix for this application-specific problem.
Fix 6: Check Windows Features, drivers, and compatibility
Do not enable Windows features at random to solve this error. Ulead VideoStudio may interact with capture hardware, codecs, or older media components, but u32tx.dll is not established as a .NET, DirectX, or driver-runtime file.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
To review optional Windows components:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
optionalfeatures. - Press Enter.
- Review enabled features such as .NET Framework.
- Change a feature only when the VideoStudio installer or a second error specifically requires it.
- Restart if Windows requests it.
To inspect hardware drivers:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, Sound, video and game controllers, and Imaging devices.
- Look for warning icons.
- Right-click the affected device and select Properties.
- Review the Device status and Driver tabs.
- Install drivers only from the hardware manufacturer or Windows Update.
Drivers are relevant when VideoStudio fails while capturing video or initializing a device, not as the normal source of u32tx.dll. If hunting through many device vendors and driver versions is the problem, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify outdated drivers; the full version performs driver installation. It is not a substitute for reinstalling the VideoStudio application that supplied the DLL.
Fix 7: Use System Restore after a recent change
System Restore can help when the file disappeared after a recent cleanup, update, or software removal.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the VideoStudio failure began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point and select Finish.
- Let Windows restart and complete the process.
System Restore normally does not remove personal files, but it can roll back applications, drivers, registry settings, and system files. Back up important work before proceeding.

Why downloading u32tx.dll is usually the wrong fix
A standalone DLL download can contain the wrong version, wrong architecture, an altered binary, or malware. It can also hide the actual problem, such as quarantine, a damaged installer, or a mismatched VideoStudio release.
There is no reliable evidence that u32tx.dll belongs in a Windows system directory. Keep application DLLs beside the application unless the vendor’s installer specifies another location. Do not use regsvr32 u32tx.dll as a general repair command. regsvr32 is for DLLs that implement DllRegisterServer; an ordinary application-support DLL may not provide that entry point.
If a vendor explicitly documents registration for a particular DLL, open Command Prompt as administrator and use the registration command supplied for that product. Otherwise, registration errors are expected and do not repair a missing dependency.
If the original installer is unavailable
Do not substitute a DLL from an unrelated VideoStudio version. Search for the original owned media, installer backup, product key, or vendor-provided legacy installation source.
If the exact installer cannot be recovered, the safest long-term option may be moving projects to a supported VideoStudio release. Preserve project files and custom assets first, and test whether the newer application can import them before removing the old installation.
Verification checklist
After repair or reinstall:
- The same VideoStudio executable starts without the
u32tx.dllmessage. - The application folder contains the files installed by the matching product release.
- Windows Security does not immediately quarantine the file again.
- The error does not name a second missing dependency.
- VideoStudio can open a test project.
- Capture, rendering, and required hardware work as expected.
- No DLL was copied into
System32orSysWOW64manually.
FAQ
Is u32tx.dll a Windows file?
No reliable evidence identifies it as a Windows component. It is associated with older Ulead VideoStudio and should be treated as an application file.
Does u32tx.dll belong to Corel VideoStudio?
It is associated with the older Ulead VideoStudio product line, which was later acquired by Corel. The exact release that requests it cannot be determined from the filename alone.
Should I copy it to System32?
No. There is no verified reason to place it in System32 or SysWOW64. Repair or reinstall the application that installed it.
Should I register u32tx.dll?
Usually not. regsvr32 does not restore missing dependencies and only applies when a DLL implements the required registration entry point and the vendor documents that procedure.
Will Visual C++ Redistributable install u32tx.dll?
No. Visual C++ packages may fix separately reported runtime files such as VCRUNTIME140.dll, but they are not a source for u32tx.dll.
Why does the error return after reinstalling?
Check whether antivirus quarantined the file again, whether the installer skipped an old component, whether the wrong product version was installed, or whether disk corruption is damaging the installation. The complete error and Protection History entry can distinguish these cases.
