If Ubisoft Connect is not working, first check Ubisoft’s Help site for a Live Feed Update about maintenance or service problems. If no notice explains the issue, match the error to the right fix: update the PC client for a server-unavailable message, reset its cache for erratic behavior, or check storage, permissions, and account links when a download or Steam launch fails.
The steps below are for Ubisoft Connect on Windows PC. Console menus and procedures differ; use the support page for your platform rather than following Windows file paths on a console.

Start by checking whether Ubisoft services are affected
Open Ubisoft Help and look at the Live Feed Update section at the top of the page for planned maintenance or service degradation. If Ubisoft services are affected, wait for them to recover and then try Connect again; changing files on your PC is unlikely to resolve an outage. The Live Feed is a current notice, so check it when the problem occurs rather than relying on an old status report.

Fix “Service is unavailable” or “A Ubisoft Server is unavailable”
Ubisoft says these errors can occur when the installed Ubisoft Connect PC client is out of date. This is particularly relevant when installing an older Ubisoft game from disc.
- Exit Ubisoft Connect completely. Use the Windows system tray to close it, not just the window’s close button.
- Download and install the newest Ubisoft Connect PC client from Ubisoft’s official download instructions.
- Open the client again and retry the action that produced the error.
Reset the Ubisoft Connect cache if the app behaves erratically
Cache files can contribute to some technical issues. Ubisoft’s procedure is to rename the cache folders so Connect can create fresh ones; this preserves the old folders as backups rather than deleting them.
- Log out of Ubisoft Connect, then close it completely, including from the system tray.
- In File Explorer, check for an existing
cachefolder atC:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launchercache. - Also check
C:Users<Username>AppDataLocalUbisoft Game Launchercache. Replace<Username>with your Windows account name. AppData may be hidden; enter the path in File Explorer’s address bar if needed. - Rename each existing
cachefolder—for example, tocache_backup. - Start Ubisoft Connect again. The client should create new cache folders.

Troubleshoot a download that will not start
Before reinstalling the client, check the common blockers Ubisoft lists for an “Unable to start download” problem:
- Connection: Confirm your internet connection is working, and check the Live Feed for maintenance or service degradation.
- Storage: Make sure the drive where the game will be installed has enough free space.
- Permissions: Try running Ubisoft Connect as administrator.
- Client version: Update Connect to the latest version.
If those checks do not help, Ubisoft recommends reinstalling Connect and trying the download again. If the problem persists, open a support case and include DxDiag and MSInfo reports. Follow Ubisoft’s download troubleshooting guidance.
Reinstall Ubisoft Connect only after simpler fixes fail
Reinstalling is more disruptive than updating or resetting the cache. Back up your save files before uninstalling. Ubisoft’s uninstall process lets you choose whether to retain installed games and local saves; review those choices carefully before proceeding.

- Close Ubisoft Connect completely.
- Back up your local save files.
- Uninstall Ubisoft Connect, choosing whether to keep installed games and local saves when prompted.
- Remove the installation
Cachefolder from the default installation directory,C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launcher, if it remains. - Install the latest client and restart your PC.

If the problem appears only when you launch a Ubisoft game through Steam, it may be an account-link or game-entitlement issue rather than a general connection failure.
- Make sure Steam is online.
- Confirm you are using the Steam account that bought the game and the Ubisoft account linked to that purchase.
- Check whether the game is shown as removed, revoked, or unavailable in your region.
- Verify the game files in Steam or Ubisoft Connect, then try launching again.

What to do if the connection problem continues
Ubisoft notes that connectivity problems can involve an internet service provider or how connection speed is shared, and directs players to platform-specific troubleshooting. Use its connectivity and performance guidance for the relevant platform. The appropriate steps depend on your setup, so do not assume that router, DNS, firewall, VPN, or port-forwarding changes are the right fix for every Connect problem.
