The headline’s phrase “promising drastic changes” is a characterization of the announcement, not a verified quotation from Ubisoft. The available account does not establish a detailed list of actions or findings from the 2024 review.
How this differs from Ubisoft’s 2020 investigations
Ubisoft’s June 25, 2020 statement addressed a different matter: allegations concerning team members. The company said it had begun investigations with specialized external consultants, would consider disciplinary action based on the findings, and was auditing its policies, processes, and systems. There is no evidence in the available reporting that the 2024 review was part of that 2020 process. The two events should not be conflated: the 2020 statement concerned allegations and workplace processes, while the 2024 article described a review intended to improve execution.
What Ubisoft announced later
On January 21, 2026, Ubisoft announced a broad organizational and portfolio reset. The company said it would organize around five specialized Creative Houses, refocus its roadmap, and accelerate cost reductions. It also said some projects would be discontinued, some games would receive more development time, and studio closures or restructurings were part of the changes. This was a later reset, not verified proof of what the 2024 review found or whether it produced the announced 2026 measures. In describing the reset, Ubisoft founder and CEO Yves Guillemot said: “We are transforming Ubisoft’s operating model to produce exceptional quality games on the two core pillars of our strategy, Open World Adventures and GaaS-native experiences.”
