It is not an official fix or a guaranteed solution; reports mention different results with other Proton versions.
Try GE-Proton for the white-screen launch hang
- Install a GE-Proton version on your Steam Deck using your preferred method. GE-Proton is a community Proton build, not a game update.
- In Steam, open Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s Properties, then open Compatibility.
- Enable the option to force use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, then choose the installed GE-Proton version.
- Launch the game again. The reported symptom to check is whether it gets past the Cygames logo instead of remaining on a blank white screen.
This is a community workaround reported for that particular launch symptom, not a confirmed fix for every Steam Deck crash or startup problem. Community reports describe varying results across Proton versions, so success with GE-Proton is not assured.
If the game still will not launch
Confirm that Steam is still set to use the GE-Proton version you selected, then retry the launch. If the result is unchanged, the available reports do not establish another reliable Steam Deck fix; record the exact symptom and Proton version when seeking help rather than assuming every failure has the same cause.
