Upin & Ipin Universe launched on July 17, 2025, for PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Developed in collaboration between Malaysian animation company Les’ Copaque Production and Streamline Studios, it is an open-world adventure set in the animated series’ village of Kampung Durian Runtuh.
What is Upin & Ipin Universe?
Upin & Ipin Universe is a family-friendly adventure built around exploring the village setting of the Upin & Ipin animated series. The official description emphasizes village life, curiosity, activities, and discovery rather than combat. The launch announcement describes it as an open-world adventure inspired by Southeast Asian culture and the series. The launch announcement presented a narrative campaign of more than 12 hours; this is the publisher’s stated campaign length, not an independently measured playtime.
What do you do in the game?
Players explore Kampung Durian Runtuh and its surroundings, moving through the village and taking part in activities. Examples named in the official description include biking through plantations, climbing, swimming, crossing bamboo bridges, and finding hidden trails and play spaces. Those details describe the game as presented by its publisher, rather than an independent assessment of how varied or challenging the activities are.
Can you play Upin & Ipin Universe with a friend?
Steam lists both single-player and shared/split-screen co-op. That means the store listing identifies local shared-screen cooperative play as an option alongside solo play; it does not list online multiplayer. Check the Steam listing for its current feature and system details.

When did it come out, and where can you play it?
The game released on July 17, 2025. The launch notice named PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The official game page links to platform storefronts and regional routes. Store availability and prices can differ by region and change over time, so check the store for your platform and location.
Who developed and published the game?
Les’ Copaque Production, the Malaysian animation company behind Upin & Ipin, collaborated with Streamline Studios on development. Steam names Streamline Studios as developer and Streamline Media Group, Inc. as publisher. The launch announcement also names Streamline Media Group, so the company roles should not be collapsed into a claim that the two collaborating studios are the only parties involved.

What languages are supported?
Steam lists six supported languages in total, with English and Malay full audio. Consult the listing for the current language breakdown; support may differ by platform, and the Steam information should not be assumed to describe every console edition.
What was said about launch-period technical issues?
In a Steam Community post dated July 27, 2025, the development team said it was reviewing player feedback, fixing bugs, and working on improvements. It specifically acknowledged concerns about two-player camera behavior, biking, and rendering, particularly on PS4 and Switch, and said patches were being released. The post documents the team’s launch-period response; it does not establish whether those issues remain in the current version. For a purchase decision, look for recent feedback and update notes for your specific platform.

Why did the launch matter to Malaysia’s games industry?
The game brought a Malaysian animated property into an interactive release developed with a Malaysian studio partner. At the July 2025 launch, Les’ Copaque managing director Haji Burhanuddin Md Radzi described it as a move beyond television, film, and merchandise into an interactive experience. Streamline Media Group CEO Alexander Fernandez called it a “love letter” to Southeast Asian culture and traditions. These are the companies’ stated ambitions for the project, not independent findings about its cultural impact.
Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, described the launch as evidence of the creativity and collaboration contributing to the country’s animation and games ambitions. In a July 4, 2025 speech, the Ministry cited RM5.3 billion in creative digital industry revenue and RM800 million in creative digital exports for 2023, as well as more than 10,000 high-value job opportunities across the ecosystem. Those are broad industry figures, not revenue, exports, or jobs generated by Upin & Ipin Universe. The Ministry of Digital’s speech also cited PwC’s projected 3.9% compound annual growth rate for the global entertainment and media industry through 2028, from USD 2.8 trillion in 2023 to a projected USD 3.4 trillion in 2028.
