The update increased several ability cooldowns, adjusted counterplay against Sentinel utility, revised Pearl and Abyss, and tuned weapons differently on PC and console. Its map rotation put Pearl and Split into Competitive and Deathmatch, replacing Lotus and Ascent for that patch. These are the changes Riot announced for version 11.08, not a description of the live game in October 2026.
What Riot said Patch 11.08 was intended to change
Riot framed the update as a broad balance pass intended to encourage teams to respond and adapt during rounds, with more opportunities for counterplay. The official notes describe an effort to balance gunplay and abilities; they publish configuration changes and design goals, not measured results such as changes to win rates or pick rates. Across the agent changes, Riot emphasized more deliberate ability use and consistency in nearsight, concuss, and stim effects. It also sought to make some of the larger ultimate abilities smaller. For Initiators in particular, the stated aim was to preserve the value of signature abilities while making their timing and coordination matter more.
Agent balance: cooldowns, effects, and counterplay
Nearsight, concuss, and Initiator timing
In Riot’s 2025 patch-note values, the listed nearsight radius for Fade’s Prowler, Omen’s Paranoia, Reyna’s Leer, and Skye’s Seeker increased from 5 m to 7 m. The listed concuss duration for Breach’s Fault Line, Gekko’s Wingman, Neon’s Relay Bolt, and Astra’s Nova Pulse was set to 2.5 seconds. These are configuration values from the patch notes, not measured match outcomes.

- Ultra-long battery life gives you up to 250 hours of continuous gaming on a single AA battery
- Lightweight mechanical design and classic shape for maximum maneuverability, durability and comfort

Several Initiator signature cooldowns increased from 40 to 60 seconds. Riot’s examples include Breach’s Fault Line, Fade’s Haunt, KAY/O’s ZERO/POINT, and Sova’s Recon Bolt. Flash changes accompanied the cooldown pass: Breach’s Flashpoint duration increased from 2 to 2.25 seconds, while KAY/O’s maximum underhand flash duration increased from 1.5 to 2.25 seconds. The longer cooldowns and adjusted flashes reflect different parts of the same design goal: make timing and coordination more consequential without treating every flash as a simple reduction in strength.
Gekko, Neon, and Yoru
- Gekko: The reclaim cooldown increased from 10 to 20 seconds, and Wingman’s health fell from 80 to 60.
- Neon: Full-battery sprint time increased from 12 to 16 seconds, while the time to recharge to a full battery increased from 20 to 60 seconds.
- Yoru: Gatecrash health fell from 60 to 20. While using Dimensional Drift, Yoru can no longer cast Blindside or set up Fakeout.
These examples show the scope of the agent pass; the official patch notes contain the full agent-by-agent change list.

Sentinel utility and opportunities to react
Riot described several Sentinel changes in terms of clearer counterplay rather than only raw power reduction:
- Vyse: Arc Rose becomes destructible after its flash windup begins. Enemies also get a clearer opportunity to bait Shear.
- Cypher: Spycam receives reveal and audio cues at specified ranges, and Trapwire’s effects change.
- Killjoy: The turret and Alarmbot have longer reactivation times, with added windup effects when Killjoy re-enters activation range.
- Sage: Barrier Orb’s cost decreased from 400 to 300, while barrier-segment health decreased from 800 to 600.
The patch notes do not establish how these changes affected live match performance.

Pearl and Abyss changes, plus the 11.08 map rotation
Riot said the map pass aimed to encourage more play on sites and make planting for main riskier and more predictable. The changes targeted different parts of that goal on Pearl and Abyss.
| Map | What changed in 11.08 | Riot’s stated aim |
|---|---|---|
| Pearl | The deep B Long sightline was removed, and cover on and around B Site was adjusted. | Make direct engagements on site more viable and retakes less difficult. |
| Abyss | B Site was adjusted; the Mid hallway leading toward B Main was changed. | Improve on-site defense and attacker post-plant play, make planting for main riskier, and open quicker macro-pathing options from Mid. |
For the Competitive and Deathmatch queues in this patch, Pearl and Split entered the rotation, while Lotus and Ascent left. That is the rotation announced for 11.08; it does not establish which maps are in those queues now.

Weapon updates: PC and console values differ
Riot’s stated goal was to make weapon choices viable across different situations and round-economy states. For the PC rifle changes, it aimed to make tapping, bursting, and spraying more balanced choices. The weapon numbers below are the platform-specific values Riot published for 11.08.
In these notes, yaw-switch chance means the chance that horizontal recoil changes direction; yaw-switch time is when that change can happen; and protected bullets are the number of spray bullets fired before yaw can switch.

Other announcements in the patch notes
Competitive access announcement for Patch 11.09
Riot announced that, starting with Patch 11.09, accounts detected for sharing would need Riot Mobile multi-factor authentication to enter the Competitive queue. The announcement said other modes would be unaffected. This was a forward-looking policy announcement in the 11.08 notes; it should not be treated as a statement of the account rules in effect now.
Reporting and Premier
Riot added Rank Manipulation as a reporting category, directing players to use it for behavior described as smurfing, wintrading, and boosting. The PC-only Premier section announced Stage V25A6 and related eligibility and team-tag changes. The 11.08 notes are the source for those announcements; check newer official guidance for current reporting or Premier rules.
