This is a third-party game-runtime file associated with Trinigy’s vBase and Vision technology, not a Windows component.
What this file actually does
vbase100.dll is normally loaded by an older Windows game or game-related application from its own installation directory. Documented game files place it in folders such as bin, bin.x86, or binwin32_release, beside the game executable and other engine files.

Available file inventories commonly identify the file as a 32-bit, or x86, Trinigy vBase component. Treat those catalogue details as indicative rather than a universal specification. On 64-bit Windows, a 32-bit game still needs its 32-bit application files and may also need the x86 Microsoft Visual C++ runtime.

vbase100.dll does not belong in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. It should normally remain beside the game that uses it.
What the error usually means
| Message or symptom | Most likely meaning | First action |
|---|---|---|
| “vBase100.dll is missing” | The game file was deleted, quarantined, or never installed | Verify or repair the game files |
| “vbase100.dll was not found” | Windows cannot find the DLL in the application’s expected folder | Check the game installation and launcher |
| “Error loading vBase100.dll” | The file or one of its dependencies cannot load | Restore the original file, then check runtimes |
| “The specified module could not be found” | The named DLL may be present, but another dependency may be absent | Inspect the next missing dependency |
| “Could not be loaded or is corrupt” | The file may be damaged or the wrong version | Reinstall or verify the game |
| “Not designed to run on Windows” | The file may be incompatible, incomplete, or from another game | Restore the exact original version |
| The game launches from its launcher but not directly | The launcher may set a working folder or environment needed by the game | Start it through the launcher |
The Windows loader message does not always identify the actual missing file. A present vbase100.dll can still fail because another library, runtime, permission, or game file is missing.
Fix 1: Verify the game files
This is the safest and most likely repair when the error names only vbase100.dll.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSteam
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game.
- Select Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to complete the scan.
- Start the game from Steam.
Steam may replace missing or damaged files, including files inside the game’s bin directory. A successful repair usually allows the game to start without the DLL message.
If Steam reports that files were replaced but the error returns, check antivirus quarantine before repeating the repair. If verification cannot restore the file, reinstall the game from Steam.
Another launcher
Look for an option named Verify, Repair, Scan and repair, or Validate files:
- Open the launcher.
- Open your game library.
- Select the affected game.
- Open its menu, often shown as three dots or a gear.
- Choose the repair or verification command.
- Allow the launcher to restore files.
- Start the game through the launcher.
If the launcher does not offer file repair, uninstall the game and reinstall it from the original store or publisher. Do not copy vbase100.dll from another game, even if the filenames match.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFix 2: Find the program requesting the file
If you are unsure which application is involved, identify the executable before changing anything.
- Read the full error window and note the program name.
- Open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Check Processes or Details for the game executable.
- Right-click the process, if it is running, and select Open file location.
- If the game is installed through a launcher, open the launcher’s game properties and locate the installation folder.
- Search that folder for
vbase100.dll.
The DLL should normally be in the same application tree as the executable that requests it. A game may use a folder named bin, bin.x86, or binwin32_release.
Do not assume that a filename match proves the file belongs there. Compare the surrounding files with the original installation and restore them through the launcher whenever possible.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may remove or quarantine a game DLL. This can happen after a scan, a game update, or a change in the security product’s detection rules.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent actions involving the game’s installation folder.
- Expand the detection to see the file path and action taken.
If the detection clearly refers to a trusted installation, submit the detection or file to the antivirus vendor for review before restoring it. Microsoft warns that restoring a quarantined file returns it to the device, so do this only when you trust the complete installation.
A clean reinstall is usually safer than restoring a questionable file. If the DLL is repeatedly quarantined:
- Run a full scan in Windows Security.
- Scan the complete game folder.
- Obtain a clean copy through the original launcher or publisher.
- Do not disable antivirus protection globally.
Fix 4: Repair the Microsoft runtime only when the error names it
Visual C++ Redistributable packages do not install vbase100.dll. They may provide a dependency that the game needs, however.
Use this fix when the message also names files such as:
MSVCR100.dllMSVCP100.dll- Another Microsoft Visual C++ runtime file
Download the redistributable only from Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable page. Microsoft provides links there for the x86 and x64 packages.
For an older 32-bit game:
- Check the game documentation or installer for its required runtime.
- Install the x86 package, even if Windows itself is 64-bit.
- If the game specifically requires Visual C++ 2008 or 2010, install that legacy version from Microsoft’s listed packages.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the game again.
Installing the x64 package alone does not satisfy every 32-bit game. Multiple Visual C++ generations can coexist, and a newer package does not necessarily replace an older side-by-side runtime.
Fix 5: Reinstall the game from its original source
Reinstall when verification fails, the installation is incomplete, or the file was removed and cannot be restored.
- Back up save files if they are stored outside cloud synchronization.
- Uninstall the game from the launcher or Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall it from the original store or publisher.
- Start it through the launcher once.
- Check that the game’s own folder contains its required runtime files.
Do not use a DLL download site as the replacement source. An unaudited copy may contain malware, belong to another game, have the wrong architecture, or be the wrong version. It can also leave the underlying installation damage unresolved.
Manual copying is appropriate only when restoring the original file from a trusted installer or a verified backup to the exact application folder.
Fix 6: Check permissions and Windows security controls
A correct DLL may fail to load if the game cannot read its own folder.

- Select Run this program as an administrator temporarily.
- Select Apply, then start the game.
If that works, review the game folder’s permissions rather than permanently relying on administrator mode.
Also check Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Ransomware protection → Manage ransomware protection. Controlled folder access can block older games from reading or writing required files. Allow the trusted game executable only if you recognize the installation and understand the security consequence.

Fix 7: Use legacy Windows features only when the game requires them
Some older games depend on Windows components unrelated to vbase100.dll, such as legacy DirectPlay or older .NET Framework features.
To inspect optional components:
- Press
Win+R. - Enter
optionalfeatures. - Press Enter.
- Review the available Windows Features.
- Enable only the component named by the game’s documentation or installer.
- Select OK and restart if Windows requests it.
Do not enable random features to solve a missing game DLL. vbase100.dll is not supplied by Windows Features.
Fix 8: Run DISM and SFC for broader Windows damage
System File Checker and DISM repair protected Windows components. They generally do not recreate a third-party game DLL, so use them when several Windows features are malfunctioning or Windows itself reports corrupted components.
Recommended Free Tools
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Run the game’s file verification again.
Success means DISM or SFC reports that repair completed, or that no integrity violations were found. If they report files that could not be repaired, repeat the game reinstall path rather than expecting SFC to supply vbase100.dll.
When manually hunting versions and repeating SFC or DISM leaves you unsure what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for reported issues; its free scan identifies problems, while repair is handled by the full version. Reinstalling the game remains the definitive fix when the missing file belongs to that game.
Fix 9: Update drivers only for a separate graphics or startup fault
A graphics-driver problem can cause crashes or graphics initialization failures, but it is not the first-line explanation for a missing vbase100.dll message.
If the game still crashes after the DLL is restored:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows.
For a clean driver repair, use the graphics hardware manufacturer’s official support channel. Do not treat a driver update as a replacement for restoring the game’s files.
When identifying the correct driver manually means comparing hardware models and hunting through many releases, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan shows the detected issues, while installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling the affected game.
Fix 10: Try System Restore after a recent change
System Restore is a fallback if the problem began immediately after a software, driver, or Windows change and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press
Win+R. - Enter
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the problem began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore.
System Restore changes system configuration and installed programs but does not normally remove personal files. After it completes, verify the game files again.
Should you use regsvr32?
Normally, no. regsvr32 registers DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A game runtime DLL is normally loaded directly from the game folder and does not need registration.
Do not run:
regsvr32 vbase100.dll
unless the game publisher specifically instructs you to do so. An error stating that DllRegisterServer was not found confirms that registration is not applicable.
FAQ
Is vbase100.dll part of Windows?
No. It is an application-local third-party game component. Windows Update does not normally install it.
Is it a 32-bit or 64-bit DLL?
Available catalogued copies are commonly identified as x86, but the exact file supplied by a game must come from that game’s installer. A 32-bit game on 64-bit Windows still needs its x86 files and dependencies.
Can I copy it into System32?
No. Restore it to the original game folder from a trusted installation source. System-folder copying can create wrong-version, wrong-architecture, and DLL search-order problems.
Why does the error remain when the file is visible?
Another dependency may be missing, the file may be damaged, the game may be reading a different installation, or the launcher may provide a required working directory. Verify the complete game installation and check the next dependency named by the error or event log.
Will Visual C++ install vbase100.dll?
No. Visual C++ supplies Microsoft runtime libraries. It may be relevant only when the error also names a missing Microsoft runtime dependency.
What if antivirus detects the file as malware?
Do not ignore the detection. Scan the complete installation and submit the file or detection to the antivirus vendor. If the game is trusted, reinstall it from the original launcher instead of downloading a replacement DLL.
