If vbe7intl.dll is missing, repair the Microsoft Office installation that provides Visual Basic for Applications. Do not download the DLL into System32 or SysWOW64.
vbe7intl.dll is an Office VBA international-resource component. Word, Excel, Access, Project, and Office features that use macros can fail when it is damaged, deleted, quarantined, or separated from the rest of the Office installation.

Quick Repair is the best first move because it replaces detected damaged Office files without requiring a complete reinstall.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Microsoft 365 and Click-to-Run Office
- Close Word, Excel, Outlook, and every other Office application.
- Open Start and select Settings.
- On Windows 11, select Apps > Installed apps.
- On Windows 10, select Apps > Apps & features.
- Find Microsoft 365 or your installed Microsoft Office product.
- Select the three-dot menu on Windows 11, or select the product on Windows 10.
- Choose Modify.
- Approve the administrator prompt.
- Select Quick Repair.
- Choose Repair and wait for the process to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Open the Office application that previously showed the error.
If Office starts normally and VBA features work, the missing component has been restored. If the same message appears, repeat the process and choose Online Repair instead.

MSI-based Office
Older volume-licensed or MSI-based installations use a different control panel:
- Press
Win + R. - Enter
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select Microsoft Office.
- Choose Change.
- Select Repair.
- Follow the prompts and restart Windows.
Microsoft’s Office repair instructions cover both repair workflows.

2. Use Online Repair if Quick Repair fails
Time needed: About 15–30 minutes, depending on the installation
Quick Repair can replace a missing file, but Online Repair is more useful when the Office component store, language resources, or installation registration is incomplete.
- Return to Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Select Microsoft 365 or Office.
- Choose Modify.
- Select Online Repair.
- Confirm the repair.
- Leave the computer connected to the internet.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
- Test Word, Excel, or the application that failed.
Online Repair repairs the Office suite rather than only the application named in the error. That is expected because VBA is shared by multiple Office programs.
If Online Repair cannot complete, temporarily close other installers, disconnect unnecessary peripherals, restart Windows, and run the repair again. A managed work computer may also block repair; in that case, contact the administrator responsible for the Office deployment.

3. Check Office language components
Time needed: About 10–20 minutes
The INTL part of the filename refers to international or localized VBA resources. A language change, incomplete language-pack installation, or mismatched Office language can leave VBA looking in the wrong place.
- Open Word or Excel.
- Select File > Options.
- Select Language.
- Check the Office display language list.
- Check the Office authoring and proofing language list.
- Confirm that the language you need is installed rather than merely selected.
- Close Office.
- Install the matching official language pack if it is missing.
- Restart Windows.
- Run Office Quick Repair again.
Microsoft provides the supported Microsoft 365 Language Accessory Pack. Office 2016 deployments may require the separate Office 2016 language-pack procedure.
Do not copy a DLL from a different language folder. A folder such as 1033 may be present in one installation, while another Office language uses a different resource folder. Mixing files can create version and localization mismatches.
4. Confirm the Office architecture
Time needed: About 5 minutes
A 64-bit version of Windows can run either 32-bit or 64-bit Office. The correct vbe7intl.dll follows the Office architecture, not simply the architecture of Windows.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To check:
- Open Word or Excel.
- Select File > Account.
- Select About Word, About Excel, or the equivalent application entry.
- Read the architecture shown in the dialog.
If it says 32-bit, repair or reinstall 32-bit Office. If it says 64-bit, use the 64-bit Office installation and matching language components.
Common Office locations can include:
C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedVBAVBA71033
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesMicrosoft SharedVBAVBA71033
Click-to-Run installations may use paths resembling:
C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficerootvfsProgramFilesCommonX64Microsoft SharedVBAVBA7.1
C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft OfficerootvfsProgramFilesCommonMicrosoft SharedVBAVBA7.1
These are examples, not universal locations. Office version, architecture, installation technology, and language determine the actual path. If the file is absent, repairing Office is safer than manually placing a file there.
Microsoft explains the relationship between VBA7 and Office architecture in its VBA overview.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems5. Check antivirus quarantine
Time needed: About 5–15 minutes
Security software may quarantine an Office component after an update or a false detection. It can also remove a genuinely unsafe modified file, so restoration requires verification.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving Office, VBA, or
vbe7intl.dll. - Inspect the detected file path and action.
- Restore it only if the path clearly belongs to the genuine Office installation and the file is identified as Microsoft-signed.
- Run a full security scan.
- Repair Office after restoring or removing the quarantine event.
Do not restore a file from an unknown location merely because its filename matches. If the file was modified, unsigned, or located in a temporary folder, leave it quarantined and rebuild Office through Online Repair.
6. Reinstall Office from its official source
Time needed: About 20–45 minutes
Use a clean reinstall when Online Repair fails, Office contains multiple conflicting installations, or an old language pack left behind incomplete components.
- Back up documents, templates, and macro files.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Remove duplicate or obsolete Office installations, if present.
- Restart Windows.
- Sign in to the Microsoft account associated with the Office license, or use the official installer supplied by your organization.
- Install the same Office architecture you confirmed earlier.
- Select the required languages during setup.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Word or Excel and test VBA.
If an organization manages the computer, do not remove Office without checking its deployment process. The wrong reinstall can leave Click-to-Run, MSI, volume-license, or language-pack remnants competing for the same VBA components.

7. Repair Windows components only when other Windows files are also failing
Time needed: About 15–30 minutes
vbe7intl.dll belongs to Office, so Windows system repair is not the primary solution. Use DISM and SFC when other Windows components are corrupt, Windows Update is failing, or several unrelated applications report damaged system files.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Run Office Online Repair again if the Office error remains.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its system-file repair guidance.
Running the commands repeatedly without checking what changed is not a substitute for repairing Office. If you prefer help identifying corrupted Windows components instead of manually interpreting repair output, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for problems; its free scan shows what it finds, while repair features require the full version. Office reinstallation remains the definitive fix when the damaged file belongs to Office.
8. Do not treat this as a graphics or chipset driver problem
Time needed: About 5–20 minutes if other hardware errors are present
A driver update will not normally restore an Office VBA resource. Check drivers only if the computer also has display crashes, device errors, failed Windows updates, or other hardware-related symptoms.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the device category related to the separate problem.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the hardware.
Do not use Device Manager to search for vbe7intl.dll. If manually hunting through many vendor driver packages is the real problem, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan identifies available updates, while installation requires the full version. It is not a replacement for repairing the Office installation that owns this DLL.
Why copying the DLL does not work
Random DLL download sites sites are risky because the file may contain malware, have the wrong Office build, use the wrong architecture, or belong to a different language. Even a clean-looking copy may not match the rest of the VBA installation.
Do not:
- Copy
vbe7intl.dlltoC:WindowsSystem32. - Copy it to
C:WindowsSysWOW64. - Copy it between Office language folders.
- Replace it with a file from another computer.
- Run
regsvr32as a routine fix.
vbe7intl.dll is an Office language/resource component, not a documented COM server that normally needs registration. Office repair restores the file and the surrounding version-matched components together.
Windows Features are also unlikely to help. Enabling .NET Framework, legacy components, or another optional Windows feature does not install Office VBA.
Common causes
| Cause | What usually fixes it |
|---|---|
| Damaged Office installation | Quick Repair, then Online Repair |
| Missing or mismatched language pack | Install the official matching language pack, then repair Office |
| Mixed 32-bit and 64-bit Office components | Remove the conflicting installation and reinstall one architecture |
| Antivirus quarantine | Verify the event, scan the system, then repair Office |
| Failed Office update | Restart, apply pending updates, and run Office repair |
| Disk damage or malware | Back up data, scan the system, and reinstall Office |
| Broader Windows corruption | Run DISM, then SFC |
A Windows update can appear to trigger the problem by exposing an already-damaged Office installation. Windows Update does not normally provide this Office-owned DLL directly.
If the error still returns
If Office works immediately after repair but fails again later, check for:
- Enterprise policies that roll back Office changes.
- Security software repeatedly quarantining the component.
- Multiple Office versions or old language packs.
- Disk errors or malware.
- A damaged Windows user profile.
Create a new local Windows user account and test Office there. If the error disappears, repair or recreate the affected profile rather than repeatedly copying DLLs.

FAQ
Is vbe7intl.dll part of Windows?
No evidence supports treating it as a normal Windows system DLL. It is associated with Microsoft Office and its Visual Basic for Applications environment.
Which programs can show this error?
Word and Excel are common examples. Access, Project, and other Office components that use VBA can also trigger the message.
Does 64-bit Windows require the 64-bit DLL?
No. The DLL must match the installed Office architecture. 64-bit Windows can contain 32-bit Office.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Should I run regsvr32 vbe7intl.dll?
Normally no. This file is an Office language/resource component, so repairing Office is the appropriate operation.
What if only one Office language fails?
Check File > Options > Language, install the matching official language pack, restart Office, and run Quick Repair or Online Repair.
What if a game reports this DLL?
Determine whether the game or its launcher embeds or calls Office/VBA components. Do not assume the game needs a generic Windows runtime, and do not install a random DLL into a system folder.
How do I know the repair worked?
Open the application that failed, confirm that it starts without the error, and test the affected macro or VBA feature. If the error returns, continue with language, architecture, antivirus, and clean-reinstall checks rather than replacing the file manually.
