Fix 1: Reinstall the correct Epson printer package
This is the most likely repair when the error began after installing, uninstalling, updating, or cleaning Epson software.
- Find the printer’s exact model number. Check the printer label, its existing Windows entry, or the purchase documentation.
- Open Epson’s official Support page.
- Search for the exact printer model.
- Select the installed Windows release and the appropriate driver or printer software package.
- Download the complete package. Do not look for an individual
ep0nreaa.dllfile. - Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Bluetooth & devices.
- Select Printers & scanners.
- Select the Epson printer and choose Remove.

Fix 2: Run Windows Update and rebuild the printer connection
Windows Update is Microsoft’s recommended first source for current printer drivers. It can also replace an incompatible or incomplete generic printer installation.
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates and install available updates.
- Open Advanced options.
- Select Optional updates.
- Expand Driver updates if that section is available.
- Install a printer or Epson-related driver only when it matches the device.
- Restart the computer.
- Return to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Remove the affected Epson printer.
- Select Add device and let Windows detect it again.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
DISM and System File Checker are appropriate when Windows servicing, protected system files, or the driver installation infrastructure may be damaged. They are not guaranteed to restore a third-party Epson DLL.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows after both commands complete.
- Reinstall the Epson package and test the printer again.
Success means DISM or SFC reports that corruption was repaired, or the Epson installation works afterward. If SFC reports that it found no integrity violations, that does not prove the Epson file is present. SFC primarily repairs protected Windows components, not arbitrary files installed by printer manufacturers.

Device Manager can remove a malfunctioning printer device and its driver association, but it does not identify the correct Epson package by DLL filename.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click the Epson device.
- Select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers Attempt to remove the driver for this device, select it only when you intend to reinstall the driver.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current package from Epson or allow Windows Update to detect the printer.
If the Epson device does not appear, check Other devices, Universal Serial Bus controllers, or the printer’s connection. Do not remove unrelated devices simply because their names look unfamiliar.
Fix 7: Try System Restore after a recent change
System Restore is useful when the error began immediately after a driver update, Epson cleanup utility, software removal, or Windows change and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point and select Finish.
System Restore can revert drivers, system files, registry settings, and installed programs. It normally does not remove personal documents, but review the affected-program list before proceeding.

If no suitable restore point exists, cancel the process and reinstall the Epson package instead. System Restore is not a guaranteed way to recover a particular Epson DLL.

Do not download an isolated DLL
Random DLL download sites may provide the wrong version, wrong architecture, an altered file, or malware. Even a genuine-looking copy may depend on other Epson files and will not repair the driver package that originally installed it.
Use Windows Update or Epson’s official model-specific support package instead.
Do not copy it into Windows folders
Do not manually place the file in:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- A random application directory
- The Windows Driver Store
Printer drivers are installed as packages, commonly through INF files, with dependencies, permissions, and servicing information. Copying one DLL bypasses that process and can leave the installation inconsistent. Do not use pnputil unless you have identified the correct Epson driver package and INF.
Do not use regsvr32 as a generic repair
Do not run:
regsvr32 ep0nreaa.dll

Do not use registry cleaners or DLL repair utilities as the primary fix
A registry cleaner cannot recreate a complete Epson driver package. Remove the damaged printer installation and install the correct package instead.
If the printer works but the startup error remains
An old Epson updater, monitor, scheduled task, service, or status utility may still be trying to load the legacy file.
Check:
- Settings > Apps > Installed apps
- Task Manager > Startup apps
- Task Scheduler
- Epson services and utilities
Confirm the publisher and file path before disabling anything. If the printer works, remove obsolete Epson software through its normal uninstaller rather than deleting startup entries or DLLs manually.
