When Verdansk returned to Call of Duty: Warzone on April 3, 2025, its announced launch modes included Battle Royale Casual: a 148-participant match with 28 human players and up to 120 bots. It was designed as a lower-intensity alternative to standard Battle Royale, not a match made entirely of bots.
How many bots were in Verdansk Casual?
At the Verdansk launch, Battle Royale Casual was listed as having 28 human players and up to 120 bots, for 148 participants in total. With one human player in your squad, that meant up to 27 other human players could also drop into the match; most opponents were computer-controlled.

Activision described the mode as a way to warm up, build confidence, or play a Battle Royale match that was less intense than facing 149 human opponents. That is the publisher’s description of its intended role, not an independent measure of bot difficulty or match outcomes. Call of Duty’s March 26, 2025 announcement gave the return date and launch-mode details.
How Casual differed from standard Battle Royale
Casual used the Battle Royale ruleset, but Activision said progression was limited. Results did not count for or against player stats, and the mode did not count toward Ranked eligibility. The main distinction was therefore not a different map or wholly different rule set, but the mix of human players and bots and the limits on progression and competitive records.

Casual was not the same as Bootcamp
Warzone Bootcamp was a separate training option with a smaller stated population: 20 players and 24 bots, according to the Season 03 patch notes published April 1, 2025. The notes called Bootcamp a tutorial mode and described Casual as a stepping stone toward a more traditional player-only experience.

Did Verdansk Casual remain available later?
A later official Season 02 modes listing named Battle Royale Casual on Verdansk under “Casuals (Players and Bots): Quads.” That establishes it appeared in a later seasonal announcement, not that it is selectable in the live playlist on October 4, 2026. Playlists can change, and the sources cited here do not confirm today’s availability or whether the original 28-player/120-bot setup remains unchanged.
