For battle, the reported weakness data points to Power attacks against Vespoid’s Technical attack, with Blunt weapons as its listed weapon weakness. Both location and combat details come from third-party guides published in July 2021, so confirm them against your own in-game Monsterpedia.
Where to find Vespoid
Spoiler warning: the scenery change that opens this encounter is a late-story event. The location is described below in general terms, but reading on will tell you when it happens.
A guide published July 12, 2021 reports that Vespoid appear on Hakolo Island in Guardian Ratha Woods only after a late-game environmental change, and that the encounter becomes available very near the end of the story. Vespoid are not an early-game monster, so do not plan around finding them before that point.
Guardian Ratha Woods on Hakolo Island
Once the late-game change has happened, the same guide advises moving around the area to trigger encounters rather than waiting in one spot.

Rare Monster Dens
The same guide says Vespoid can also occur in Rare Monster Dens. It does not describe den-specific spawn conditions, so treat dens as a second place to check rather than a guaranteed spawn.
| Route | Story access | What the source reports |

How to beat Vespoid
A launch-period weakness table lists Vespoid’s normal attack as Technical, its counter as Power (shown in parentheses), and its weapon weakness as Blunt. These are two different kinds of matchup. The counter is an attack-type relationship: the attack type you select in combat against Vespoid’s Technical attack. The weakness is a weapon-type relationship: the weapon category that deals more effective damage.

Attack type: choose Power
Nintendo Life describes the game’s broader attack cycle as Power effective against Technical, Technical effective against Speed, and Speed effective against Power. Against Vespoid’s listed Technical attack, Power is the counter.
| Attack type | Effective against | Weak against |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Technical | Speed |
| Technical | Speed | Power |
| Speed | Power | Technical |
Weapon type: use Blunt where you can
Blunt is the weapon type listed as effective against Vespoid. If your loadout lets you choose a weapon category, pick Blunt. The guide gives no damage figures, so treat this as a weakness recommendation rather than a measured damage advantage.

The manual does not list a Vespoid recipe or exact material quantities, so the in-game pages are the place to confirm specifics.
