Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before replacing anything, record:
- The exact program that displays the error.
- The full error message.
- Whether the message appears when Windows starts or only when you open one application.
- Whether the problem began after uninstalling, updating, cleaning, restoring, or quarantining software.
- The executable name and the folder where it is installed.
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Whether
vi30wrp.dllalready exists somewhere on the computer.
vi30wrp.dll is an obscure 32-bit Microsoft application DLL, not a normal Windows system file. vi30wrp.dll is identified as the FpWrap Module, a legacy component associated with the FrontPage and Visual InterDev product family.
The safest repair is to restore the original application from its licensed installer or installation media. Do not begin by downloading a loose DLL and copying it into System32.

What vi30wrp.dll does
Public file metadata describes vi30wrp.dll as:
- Description: FpWrap Module
- Product: FpWrap Module
- Publisher: Microsoft Corp, according to reported metadata
- Architecture: Win32, or 32-bit
- Related filename:
FPWRAP.DLL
The filename appears to fit the old Visual InterDev and FrontPage naming scheme. Microsoft described Visual InterDev and FrontPage 98 as integrated products, and Visual InterDev 6.0 included FrontPage 98 technology. The exact installer that placed this DLL on a particular computer cannot be confirmed from the filename alone.

Error messages you may see
Different programs and Windows versions can display slightly different wording, including:
- “This application failed to start because vi30wrp.dll was not found.”
- “The file vi30wrp.dll is missing or corrupted.”
- “A required component is missing: vi30wrp.dll.”
- “Error loading vi30wrp.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The program can’t start because vi30wrp.dll is missing.”
These are reported variants rather than a single official Microsoft error catalogue. The important detail is which executable requests the file.
A message saying “the specified module could not be found” does not always mean vi30wrp.dll itself is absent. The DLL may be present while another library that it needs is missing, blocked, or the wrong architecture.

If the error appears when opening a program
- Close the error window.
- Right-click the shortcut you normally use.
- Select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, read the Target field.
- Note the executable name and installation folder.
- Select Cancel without changing the shortcut.
If the program opens from the Start menu:
- Open Start.
- Type the program name.
- Right-click the result.
- Select Open file location.
- Right-click the shortcut in the folder and choose Properties.
- Record the target executable and its path.
If the error appears during startup:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for an old application, launcher, or helper associated with the message.
- Right-click an item and choose Disable only if you have identified it as the unwanted startup entry.
Do not disable random Windows entries. If the old program is no longer needed, uninstalling it or removing its startup entry is safer than restoring a DLL that the program no longer requires.
Check whether the file exists
- Open File Explorer.
- Select This PC.
- In the search box, type
vi30wrp.dll. - Allow the search to finish.
- Right-click any result and choose Open file location.
- Right-click the file, select Properties, and inspect the Details and Digital Signatures tabs if they are available.
A copy in the old program’s installation directory is more relevant than a copy found in an unrelated folder. Do not replace a file merely because its name matches.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall the original application
A damaged or incomplete FrontPage or Visual InterDev installation is the most likely cause.
Try Windows’ repair option
- Press Windows key+I to open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the legacy Microsoft application named in the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Modify, Repair, or Change, if available.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Some older installers use Control Panel instead:
- Press Windows key+R.
- Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select the relevant Microsoft application.
- Choose Change or Repair.
- Complete the maintenance wizard.
If there is no repair option, use the original licensed installer or installation media and reinstall the same product. Match the original edition as closely as possible. Installing an unrelated modern Microsoft runtime will not recreate an application-specific legacy DLL.
After reinstalling, start the program from its normal shortcut. If it works, do not copy additional DLLs into Windows folders.
Use compatibility settings only when necessary
A very old installer may not run normally on current Windows.
- Locate the original installer executable.
- Right-click it and select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Select Run this program in compatibility mode for.
- Choose an older Windows version only if the installer requires it.
- Select Apply, then OK.
- Right-click the installer and choose Run as administrator.
- Complete the installation.
- Test the installed program before changing compatibility settings for anything else.
Compatibility mode may help the installer or program launch, but it does not make unsupported legacy software fully compatible with modern Windows.

Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may have removed or quarantined a legacy DLL. This is possible after a cleanup, security scan, or update, but the presence of a quarantine record does not prove the file was safe.
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Look for an entry naming
vi30wrp.dllor the parent application. - Expand the entry and read its path and detection details.
Restore the file only when all of these are true:
- The path matches the original application.
- The file came from the licensed installer or trusted installation media.
- You have confirmed that the program genuinely needs it.
- A current security scan does not identify the restored file as malicious.
If you restore a quarantined file and Windows Security detects it again, stop. Do not disable protection merely to force the file into place. Reinstall the application from its original media and contact the software owner or your security administrator if the detection remains.
Microsoft explains the available quarantine and restoration actions in its Protection history guidance.

Fix 4: Check the application directory and architecture
A 32-bit DLL is normally loaded for the 32-bit application that supplied it. It is not automatically appropriate for a 64-bit program.
To check Windows architecture:
- Press Windows key+I.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Read System type.
On Windows 11 or Windows 10, a 32-bit legacy application can run under WOW64 on a 64-bit system. That does not mean its DLL belongs in System32 or SysWOW64.
Windows normally searches the application directory before system directories when loading a DLL. Therefore, the expected location is usually beside the affected legacy executable, unless the original installer specifies another location.
Do not copy vi30wrp.dll into both of these folders:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64
On 64-bit Windows, System32 is primarily used for native 64-bit system files, while SysWOW64 contains redirected 32-bit system files. Neither directory is a general-purpose storage location for application DLLs.
If you have the original file from trusted installation media, restore it through the application installer. If you must compare locations for diagnosis, record the full path rather than moving the file.
Microsoft documents DLL search order and file-system redirection on 64-bit Windows.
Fix 5: Determine whether a dependency is missing
If vi30wrp.dll exists beside the application but the error continues, the missing item may be a dependency.
First, test the parent application after reinstalling it. The original installer is more likely to restore the complete group of compatible files than a manual replacement.
Also check for these clues:
- The error names
vi30wrp.dll, but the file is visibly present. - The error occurs only on one computer.
- The program was copied from another computer instead of installed.
- The program worked on an older Windows installation but not after migration.
- Another error appears after the first dialog is dismissed.
Do not automatically install a Visual C++ Redistributable. Microsoft’s current redistributable documentation covers specific MSVC runtime families and does not identify vi30wrp.dll as one of them.
If the application has a launcher with Verify, Repair, or Scan installation, use that function. This applies only when the affected program actually provides such a feature.

Fix 6: Do not use regsvr32 unless the DLL is a self-registering COM server
regsvr32 is not a general-purpose missing-DLL repair command. It is intended for DLLs that expose COM self-registration functions such as DllRegisterServer.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →There is no reliable public evidence that vi30wrp.dll is a self-registering COM server. Running this command by default can produce an error without telling you whether the file is missing, damaged, or unnecessary.
If the original application’s documentation explicitly instructs you to register this DLL, use the command that matches the application architecture. For a 32-bit DLL on 64-bit Windows, the 32-bit registration utility is normally located at:
C:WindowsSysWOW64regsvr32.exe
For a 32-bit Windows installation, the standard utility is normally:
C:WindowsSystem32regsvr32.exe
Do not guess the command, and do not treat a regsvr32 failure as proof that the DLL is corrupt. If the file does not export the required registration function, the command is simply not applicable.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components only as a fallback
Because vi30wrp.dll is not established as a Windows component, System File Checker will not normally recreate it. These commands are appropriate when Windows itself is showing broader signs of corruption, such as broken protected system files or multiple unrelated Windows features failing.
Run DISM first
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the operation to complete.
- Restart Windows.
Run System File Checker
Open an elevated Command Prompt again and run:
sfc /scannow
Wait until the scan reaches 100 percent, then restart Windows and test the original application.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its system file repair instructions. These commands repair protected Windows components, not usually third-party or legacy application files.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can make troubleshooting harder. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for system problems and show what it identifies before repair, while the repair functions require the full version; it is optional, and reinstalling the specific legacy application remains the definitive fix for this DLL.
Do not enable random Windows Features to obtain this file. FrontPage and Visual InterDev components are not established as optional modern Windows features, and enabling unrelated legacy components can introduce additional compatibility and security problems.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Fix 8: Consider drivers only if the evidence points there
vi30wrp.dll is not identified as a driver DLL. Do not update drivers merely because this error mentions a DLL.
Driver troubleshooting is relevant only when the same failure began after a hardware change, a driver installation, or a system migration, and other applications show related hardware errors.
To inspect a device:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Review the provider, date, and version.
- Use Update Driver only when you have a verified driver source.
- Restart Windows and retest the original application.
Do not replace a device driver with a DLL downloaded from an unrelated source. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify outdated drivers, with driver installation handled by the full version; it is optional, and a driver update will not replace the original FrontPage or Visual InterDev installation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix 9: Use System Restore if the timing is clear
System Restore may help if the error began immediately after software removal, an update, or a cleanup and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Windows key+R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point dated before the problem began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore does not replace personal documents, but it can affect recently installed programs and drivers. If no suitable restore point exists, return to repairing or reinstalling the parent application. Microsoft’s procedure is described in System Restore.
What to do if the legacy program still will not run
Restoring vi30wrp.dll may remove one startup error while leaving broader compatibility problems. FrontPage and Visual InterDev are legacy products, and modern Windows may reject an installer, an old helper service, a browser integration, or another dependency.
If the program is still required:
- Keep the original licensed media and installer.
- Try compatibility settings for the application.
- Run the application with the permissions it requires.
- Test it in a separate, correctly licensed older Windows virtual machine.
- Keep the legacy environment isolated from unnecessary network access.
- Consider moving the work to a supported replacement.
If the program is no longer needed:
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps or Apps & features.
- Select the old application.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Remove its startup entry if it remains.
- Restart Windows.
There is no verified current Microsoft standalone download for vi30wrp.dll, FrontPage 98, or the original Visual InterDev installer. The safe sources are the original licensed Microsoft media, an organization’s trusted software archive, or an existing installer whose provenance is known.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhy random DLL downloads are unsafe
Avoid websites offering an isolated copy of vi30wrp.dll. A downloaded file may have:
- The wrong architecture.
- An incompatible release.
- Missing dependencies.
- Altered contents.
- No trustworthy publisher verification.
- A filename copied from another application.
Even when the replacement removes one message, it may cause a different crash or leave the damaged installation unresolved. It can also place an untrusted binary in a location where Windows or an old application will load it.
Do not use a DLL download as a substitute for the original installer, and never copy an unknown file into Windows system directories.
FAQ
Is vi30wrp.dll part of Windows?
It is not established as a normal Windows component. It is reported as an application DLL associated with the FpWrap Module and the legacy FrontPage or Visual InterDev family.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Which program installed vi30wrp.dll?
The filename strongly suggests a Visual InterDev and FrontPage relationship, but the exact parent program must be identified from the executable, installation folder, or original installation records.
Is vi30wrp.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
Reported metadata identifies it as a Win32, or 32-bit, DLL. It should be matched with the 32-bit legacy application release that supplied it.
Should I copy it to System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Those folders are not general-purpose locations for application DLLs. Restore the file through the original installer, normally into the application’s own directory.
Should I run regsvr32 vi30wrp.dll?
Not by default. regsvr32 applies to self-registering COM DLLs, and there is no reliable evidence that this file requires registration.
Why does the error say the module could not be found when the file exists?
A dependency may be missing, the file may be the wrong architecture, or the application may be loading from a different directory. Reinstall the complete parent application rather than replacing only the named DLL.
Can Windows Update install vi30wrp.dll?
There is no evidence that Windows Update distributes this particular legacy application file.
What evidence should I collect before asking for help?
Save the full error text, the affected executable name, the DLL path, file properties, Windows version and architecture, antivirus Protection history, and the event that preceded the failure. That information usually distinguishes a missing file from a damaged installation, blocked file, or missing dependency.
