Humor that carries an argument
In a GameSpot interview published 21 March 2008, Croshaw explained his intended balance this way: “I think the appeal lies in firstly that they’re funny, and secondly because, as well as being funny, I genuinely try to make valid points.” That distinction is useful when choosing alternatives. A creator can be loud or profane without explaining why a mechanic fails; the closer match is someone whose joke also communicates a criticism.
A preference for pointed negativity

The series also has useful discovery value. Crider noted that it often moves away from major AAA releases and gives attention to smaller, shorter or lesser-known games. That makes it a better destination than a mainstream-release-only channel if you want criticism that doubles as a way to find unusual games.

PC Gamer reported on 11 October 2026 that, after leaving The Escapist, Croshaw continued the Zero Punctuation tradition at Second Wind under the name Fully Ramblomatic. The report describes the new series as retaining his irreverent, pointed criticism. For a viewer searching for “someone like Yahtzee,” this is an important distinction: the closest match is not an imitation but the original reviewer working in a new home and under a new title.
Why it is not an alternative
Fully Ramblomatic cannot provide the novelty of discovering a different comic voice. Its value is continuity. If you want Croshaw’s established cadence, approach to flaws and willingness to make a game the target of a sustained joke, start there before searching for replacements.

Charlie Brooker
Croshaw also identified Charlie Brooker as a major influence. Brooker’s importance here is stylistic and historical: the reference points toward criticism that uses dark humor, cultural observation and deliberately sharp phrasing. Games can change through patches, expansions, server closures and platform updates. The 2023 date attached to PCWorld’s 3 Minute Reviews recommendation, the 2026 reporting on Fully Ramblomatic and the 2008 GameSpot interview answer different questions.
