vivoxsdk_x64.dll is a 64-bit Vivox communications library shipped with a game or application, not with Windows. If Windows cannot load vivoxsdk_x64.dll, repair the program that installed it instead of downloading a replacement DLL or copying one into a Windows system folder.
Vivox provides voice and text communication components for games and companion applications. The correct file normally sits beside the program executable or in a private folder such as Win64, Support64, or x64. It should not normally be placed in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.

The version sometimes shown in file indexes, 4.9.2.26798, and the reported size of approximately 5.01 MB are identification clues only. They are not universal requirements for every program that uses Vivox.

You can also search for the file:
- Press Windows key + E.
- Select This PC.
- Enter
vivoxsdk_x64.dllin the search box. - Right-click a result and select Open file location.
- Inspect the surrounding folders and the executable files nearby.
Do not use a DLL from another game. Vivox libraries can differ by release, architecture, and application programming interface. A file that appears to have the same name may still be incompatible.
Fix 1: Repair the game or application from its launcher
Time needed: 5–20 minutes
This is the safest and most likely fix. A failed update, interrupted installation, disk cleanup, or damaged launcher cache can remove or corrupt the private Vivox files.
Close the game, then use the launcher’s built-in repair function:
- In Steam, open Library, right-click the game, choose Properties, select Installed Files, and choose Verify integrity of game files.
- In Battle.net, select the game, open the gear menu beside Play, and choose Scan and Repair.
- In another launcher, look for Verify, Repair, Scan, or Validate files in the game’s settings.
Allow the process to finish. Start the game normally afterward.
A successful repair restores the matching vivoxsdk_x64.dll to the application’s own folder and allows the program to start. If the launcher reports damaged files but the error returns immediately, restart Windows and run the repair again. Persistent failures point to antivirus quarantine, disk problems, permissions, or a version incompatibility.
If no repair function exists, uninstall the program from Settings → Apps → Installed apps, restart Windows, then reinstall it using the developer’s official launcher or installer. Back up saved games and check whether the launcher stores settings or replays separately before uninstalling.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
Security software can remove a native library after an update or after its contents change. Do not disable antivirus globally to make the game start.

- Review recent actions involving the game folder or
vivoxsdk_x64.dll. - Open the detection and record its name and location.
If the file was quarantined, restore it only when all of the following are true:
- The game or application came from its official publisher or an established official launcher.
- The quarantined path belongs to that installation.
- The launcher’s repair process restores the same file.
- The security product does not identify the file as a confirmed threat.
After checking the detection, update the game through its official launcher and run the launcher’s repair function. If the file is quarantined again, do not repeatedly restore it. Scan the installation, contact the application vendor, and investigate whether the installation or update has been modified.
If the DLL came from a random download site, remove it and reinstall the parent application from its official source.
Fix 3: Repair the Microsoft Visual C++ dependency
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
A message saying “the specified module could not be found” does not always mean that vivoxsdk_x64.dll itself is absent. Windows may be unable to find a dependent runtime library required by it.

- Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
- Search for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
- Note whether an entry for the current Microsoft Visual C++ v14 runtime is installed.
- Use Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable downloads page to obtain the installer.
- Install or repair the x64 package for a 64-bit application.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
A 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows may require the x86 package instead. Installing x64 does not replace x86, so install the x86 package too when the program is 32-bit or when the application documentation requires it.
If the application is older, it may depend on an older Visual C++ runtime that remains separate from the newer v14 family. Do not remove unrelated redistributables casually. If repairing the runtime does not help, return to the application launcher and restore the exact files shipped with that program.
The runtime repairs supporting Microsoft libraries. It does not recreate vivoxsdk_x64.dll.
Fix 4: Confirm the application and DLL architecture match
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
The _x64 suffix indicates that this library is intended for a 64-bit process. A 64-bit DLL cannot satisfy a 32-bit application, and a 32-bit DLL cannot satisfy a 64-bit application.
To check the application architecture:
- Start the application, if possible.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Details.
- Right-click a column heading and choose Select columns.
- Enable Platform if your Windows build provides it.
- Check whether the process is 32-bit or 64-bit.
If the program will not start, inspect its installation folder for separate Win32, Win64, x86, or x64 directories. Do not rename vivoxsdk.dll to vivoxsdk_x64.dll, and do not copy a DLL from another installation. The filename alone does not convert its architecture or make its exported functions compatible.
Use the launcher’s repair or reinstall process to obtain the correct variant.
Fix 5: Run the application with the correct permissions
Time needed: 5 minutes
Permissions or controlled-folder protections can prevent a launcher from writing repaired files.
- Right-click the game or application shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Select Run this program as an administrator temporarily.
- Select Apply, then OK.
- Start the application once.
You can also right-click the launcher itself and choose Run as administrator, then perform its repair operation.
If this works, the installation may have restricted permissions. Check the application folder’s Properties → Security settings and ensure your Windows account has permission to read and execute its files. Avoid granting broad permissions to unknown users, and avoid installing replacement DLLs into protected Windows folders.
If the game is installed on an external or secondary drive, confirm that the drive is connected, online, and has free space.
Fix 6: Update Windows and check device drivers
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
A graphics or audio driver is not normally the direct source of vivoxsdk_x64.dll, but outdated drivers can cause a game to fail during startup, especially when Vivox initializes audio devices.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
First install pending Windows updates:
- Open Settings → Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
Then check drivers through Device Manager:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio device and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Repeat for display adapters under Display adapters.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of hunting through several hardware vendors and guessing which driver is stale; its free scan shows what it identifies, while driver installation is handled by the full version. The game’s official repair or reinstall remains the definitive fix for a missing Vivox library.
If Device Manager reports an error code, resolve that hardware or driver issue separately. Do not replace vivoxsdk_x64.dll as a substitute for repairing an audio or graphics driver.

Fix 7: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Use this step when several unrelated applications report DLL failures, Windows itself behaves abnormally, or the application repair has not helped. These commands generally cannot restore a game’s private Vivox DLL.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the affected program.
DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows files. If either command reports that it could not complete, restart Windows and run it again. If both complete successfully but the same game still reports vivoxsdk_x64.dll, repair or reinstall the game instead.

Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can make troubleshooting circular. Outbyte PC Repair can show which Windows issues it identifies before repair, while the repair action is handled by the full version; it is not required, and reinstalling the owning game remains the definitive fix for its private DLL.
Do not register this DLL with regsvr32
Do not routinely run:
regsvr32 vivoxsdk_x64.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLL components that expose registration functions such as DllRegisterServer. A game’s native runtime library is normally loaded directly by the application and does not need registry registration. Running the command may produce an error without addressing the missing file, dependency, or version mismatch.
Fix 8: Treat entry-point errors differently
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
If the message says that ortp_set_callbacks or another procedure entry point cannot be found, the file is present but incompatible. This is not the same as a missing-file error.
Common causes include:
- A Vivox DLL from a different application or release was copied into the folder.
- The launcher updated one native library but not its companion files.
- An old replay or legacy game mode requires an older game build.
- The application is loading files from an unexpected directory.
Remove manually copied files, then use the launcher’s repair function. If only old replays fail while the current game starts, the replay may require an older application build and matching Vivox libraries. Reinstalling the current version may not restore compatibility with historical content.

When System Restore or Device Manager is relevant
System Restore is a last-resort option after recording the affected application, recent changes, and available restore point. It reverts system files and settings rather than repairing one game DLL.
Device Manager is relevant when the application crashes while initializing audio or graphics, or when a device shows a warning icon. It is not a replacement for repairing the game installation.
FAQ
Is vivoxsdk_x64.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is a third-party application library associated with Vivox communications. Do not place it in System32 or SysWOW64.
Can I download this DLL separately?
Avoid random DLL download sites sites. The file may contain malware, have the wrong architecture, belong to another Vivox release, or lack required companion libraries. Restore it through the owning application’s official launcher or installer.
Why does the file exist but Windows still say it is missing?
Windows may be reporting a missing dependency required by the DLL. Repair the Visual C++ runtime and use the application’s file verification process.
Does the 5.01 MB, version 4.9.2.26798 copy work for every game?
No. Those values are identification clues, not universal requirements. The correct DLL is the one packaged for the affected application and build.
Should I install both x64 and x86 Visual C++ runtimes?
Install the architecture required by the application. A 32-bit game may need x86 even on 64-bit Windows. Some systems legitimately need both for different programs.
What information should I provide if the problem continues?
Record the exact error text, application or game name, complete DLL path, launcher, Windows version, whether the file is present, whether antivirus quarantined it, and whether the launcher repair completed successfully. Also note whether current gameplay fails or only old replays and legacy content fail.
