Is Voidtrain cross-play between PC and Xbox?
The current official Xbox store listing says that it is. It explicitly includes “Xbox cross-platform multiplayer” and “Xbox cross-platform co-op.” That means articles claiming that the 1.0 release categorically has no PC-to-Xbox cross-play should not be treated as current.

The Xbox store currently shows Voidtrain included with Game Pass Premium and Game Pass Ultimate. The listing says Game Pass Essential requires purchasing the game in order to stream it. On an Xbox console, an eligible Game Pass subscription is also required for online multiplayer, and the subscription is sold separately.

How to play co-op
- Install or launch the same current release. Use the version available through your platform or subscription. If one player has a pending update, install it before troubleshooting multiplayer.
- Sign in to the platform account you intend to use. PC Game Pass, Xbox console and cloud play use the Xbox ecosystem; Steam uses Steam’s account and social layer. Cross-platform support does not mean that every platform shares the same friends list or invite screen.
- Have the other players added through the relevant platform or account system. This gives you a dependable starting point even if the in-game presentation differs between PC, console and cloud play.
- Create or join an online session using the multiplayer controls shown by your copy. The official sources confirm online co-op but do not publish a verified current label or menu path such as “Main Menu → Co-op” or “Invite Friends.” Do not rely on those exact labels from older guides.

- Confirm that everyone is joining the same session. A four-player limit applies, so the host and up to three additional players can participate.
If you are mixing PC and Xbox players, start with the current Xbox store’s advertised cross-platform support rather than assuming the feature is unavailable. - There is no verified universal invite path. No authoritative current source retrieved for this guide documents the exact button sequence or menu label.
- Local co-op is not advertised. Xbox and Steam list single-player and online co-op, but neither listing advertises split-screen or couch co-op. Treat Voidtrain as an online multiplayer game, not a confirmed local co-op game.
- Cross-progression is not confirmed. Steam advertises Steam Cloud, and Xbox advertises Xbox cloud saves. The listings do not say that saves or progression transfer between Steam, Epic, PC Game Pass, Xbox console and cloud play.
- No official command syntax is documented. There is no supported console, chat, launch or server command to include in a setup guide.
Troubleshooting PC–Xbox co-op
“Server connection failed”
Community reports include this message, but they do not establish one official cause or guaranteed fix. First check the practical causes: confirm that the game is updated on every device, restart the game and network connection, and try creating a new session. If the problem began immediately after an update, retry later after the platform versions have had time to synchronize.

An Xbox invite says “Something went wrong”
This has also been reported by players, but Microsoft’s listing does not provide a specific remedy. Confirm that the recipient is online, that both accounts can use online multiplayer, and that the host is not already at the four-player limit. If a direct invite fails, look for the session through the game’s available multiplayer or session-list controls.
Players cannot see one another
Some community reports say that PC and Xbox players located one another through an in-game session list rather than a direct invite. That is a report, not an officially guaranteed workflow, but it is a reasonable fallback when the platform invite fails. Both players should also verify that they are using the intended accounts and that no player has an outstanding update.

A guide says cross-play does not work
Check its publication date and evidence. The current Xbox listing explicitly advertises cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op, so a blanket “no PC–Xbox cross-play” conclusion is outdated or unsupported. At the same time, do not infer an exact storefront pairing or invite procedure that the official listing does not state.

Cloud saving is platform-specific in the available listings: Steam advertises Steam Cloud, while Xbox advertises Xbox cloud saves. That is not proof of shared progression. Before switching from Steam to Xbox, from PC to console or to cloud play, assume that your save may not transfer unless the game or platform explicitly confirms otherwise.
