This is the most likely fix after an interrupted update, failed installation, accidental deletion, or antivirus quarantine.
Steam
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click Dying Light or Dead Island Definitive Edition.
- Select Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to complete the scan and replacement process.
- Restart Steam and launch the game again.
Steam may report that some files were reacquired. That is expected when the DLL or related game files are missing or damaged.

Fix 4: Install the matching Visual C++ runtime only when indicated
Time needed: 10–20 minutes.
The vs2010 portion of the filename suggests a Visual C++ 2010-era build or naming convention. It does not mean that Microsoft’s Visual C++ installer contains vorbisfile_vs2010_x64_rwdi.dll.
Install the runtime when the complete error also names files such as MSVCR100.dll or MSVCP100.dll, or when the game’s documentation identifies that dependency.
- Open Microsoft’s supported Visual C++ downloads.
- If the game requires the older package, open Microsoft’s Visual C++ 2010 SP1 download.

- Complete the installation.
- Restart Windows.

Copying the file into a system folder can create DLL search-order conflicts and still leave the game with an incompatible or incomplete build.

“The program cannot start because the DLL is missing”
The game’s local payload is absent, quarantined, corrupted, or inaccessible. Verify or repair the game first.
“The specified module could not be found”
