Those are prices shown in the reviewed catalog snapshot, not guaranteed or permanent prices. The catalog also includes games such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, along with accessories including a Pro Controller and a Samsung 256GB microSD Express card labeled compatible with Switch 2. Catalog status differs by product. Walmart’s Nintendo brand page labels the Mario Kart World bundle “Available Now,” while some game listings are marked preorder; the broader category also includes products available to add to cart. A console listing that can be purchased is not the same as a future game preorder, and a game preorder does not secure a console. How to check a listing before you order
- Open the exact product page. Confirm whether it is a console, bundle, physical game, digital product or accessory. Do not rely on a category-page result alone.
- Check the seller and condition. Walmart’s catalog can include listings from different sellers. Verify who is selling the specific item and whether its condition is new or otherwise described.
- Review the current price and availability. Treat category-page prices as a snapshot. Confirm the total shown for the selected listing and whether it can be purchased or is marked preorder.
- Check delivery details for your address. Read the displayed estimate and any stated preorder arrival or shipping date. Availability and delivery estimates may depend on location.
- Confirm the exact bundle or game format. Make sure the bundle includes the game you expect and that a game listing is for the physical or digital format you intend to buy.
What “preorder” means—and what it does not promise
Walmart’s preorder label and terms belong to the specific Walmart listing. Nintendo’s own policies apply to Nintendo’s channels, not to Walmart checkout or shipping. Nintendo Support says its eShop digital preorders are charged in full seven days before release. Nintendo says its physical-item pre-purchases through Nintendo Store are charged immediately, with the item shipping one to three business days after release. A preorder date is not, by itself, a guarantee that a Walmart order will arrive on a particular day. Use the date and fulfillment information shown on the specific item page and at checkout, and distinguish an order for a future game from a purchase of the console.
Are Walmart’s Switch 2 preorders the best bet?
The available Walmart listings show that it is one retailer to check; they do not demonstrate better odds than competing retailers. Establishing which retailer is the best option would require a current, like-for-like comparison of the same product, seller type, price, delivery estimate, preorder or shipping date and location eligibility. The listed $499 system and $549 bundle are Walmart catalog snapshot prices, not evidence of comparative value or stock advantage.

How to read upcoming game listings
Walmart lists current Switch 2 games as well as future-dated preorder items, including digital products. Check the format and release information on each listing rather than treating all game pages as available physical copies.
