Short answer: WARDOGS lists a minimum PC target of 1080p at 60 frames per second on the Low preset with upscaling, using an Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB of RAM, and a GeForce GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590. Its recommended tier targets 1440p at 70fps or higher on Medium without upscaling, or 4K at 60fps or higher on Medium with upscaling, using a Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X and a GeForce RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6700 XT. These are the developer’s published targets, not guarantees for every computer.

WARDOGS PC requirements at a glance

The official Steam listing gives two hardware tiers. Both require 16 GB of memory, 50 GB of free storage and a broadband internet connection. The differences are the operating system, processor, graphics card and the performance target attached to each tier.

The listing is for an Early Access online player-versus-player game developed by BULKHEAD and published by Team17. It gives September 10, 2026 as the release date. The table and the game’s build can change during Early Access, so treat these figures as the current published specification rather than a permanent guarantee.

What the minimum specification actually means

“Minimum” is not a promise that any computer with one matching part will deliver a particular frame rate. In WARDOGS’ listing, the minimum tier is tied to a very specific scenario: 1920×1080 output, the Low graphics preset, a 60fps target and upscaling enabled. If you run at a higher resolution, choose a more demanding preset or disable upscaling, you are no longer testing the stated minimum target.

Minimum processor

The listed CPU choices are the Intel Core i5-8600 and AMD Ryzen 5 3500. A processor must be considered alongside its generation, clock behavior, cooling and the rest of the system. A different chip cannot be assigned an exact WARDOGS frame rate from this table alone; the Steam listing does not publish benchmark results for unlisted processors.

Minimum graphics card

The minimum GPU choices are the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 and AMD Radeon RX 590. They are paired with the 1080p Low, 60fps, upscaled target. Having one of these models does not establish that every PC configuration will hold 60fps in every match. Driver version, graphics settings, background activity, temperatures and the particular game build can all affect an observed result, but the listing supplies no measured test methodology for those variables.

Memory and system requirements

WARDOGS specifies 16 GB of RAM even at minimum. The requirement is the installed system memory listed by the store, not a statement that the game will consume exactly 16 GB while running. Close unnecessary applications before testing, and remember that an integrated graphics system may reserve some system memory for graphics; the published table does not provide a separate integrated-GPU target.

What the recommended specification is designed to deliver

The recommended tier raises the processor to an Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X and the graphics card to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. It still lists 16 GB of RAM, 50 GB of free space and broadband internet. The associated target has two alternatives rather than one universal preset-and-resolution combination.

1440p native target

The first recommended target is 2560×1440 at the Medium preset and 70fps or higher, natively rendered. “Native” means the game renders at the selected output resolution rather than internally rendering at a lower resolution and reconstructing the image through an upscaler. Because the listing does not publish a test scene, frame-time data or a guarantee, 70fps should be read as the stated goal for the recommended tier, not as a result every RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT system must produce.

4K upscaled target

The second option is 3840×2160 at Medium and 60fps or higher with upscaling. Upscaling allows the internal render resolution to be lower than the display output and then reconstructs an image at 4K. The exact internal resolution, upscaling technology and image-quality mode are not specified in the published requirements, so the table cannot be used to predict visual quality or an exact performance number for a particular setting.

Why the recommended tier is not simply “4K at 60fps”

The upscaling condition is part of the target. Removing it changes the workload substantially, especially at 4K. Likewise, the 1440p alternative is explicitly native and targets 70fps or more. Any comparison with another PC should retain all four qualifiers: output resolution, preset, native or upscaled rendering, and frame-rate target.

Can my PC run WARDOGS at 1080p?

Compare your complete configuration with the minimum row, not just the graphics card. For the published 1080p target, you need 64-bit Windows 10 or newer, a processor at least comparable to the Core i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB of RAM, a GPU at least comparable to the GTX 1660 or RX 590, 50 GB of available storage and broadband internet. The intended settings are Low with upscaling and a 60fps target.

If one component is below the minimum

The listing does not say how far below the minimum is acceptable. A weaker CPU, GPU or operating system means your machine is outside the published tier, so an exact prediction would be speculation. You can still test the game if it is available to you, but use conservative settings and monitor frame rate and frame-time consistency rather than assuming the minimum target applies.

If your parts are above minimum but do not match the named models

Model names alone are not enough to establish an exact result. The official table names two choices per tier, not an exhaustive equivalence chart. A newer card with a different design, a laptop version, or a processor with a different power limit may behave differently from the desktop part suggested by its name. The responsible conclusion is that your hardware may be in the same general class, while the exact WARDOGS result remains unverified by the published information.

How to check your hardware before installing

Use Windows’ built-in tools to collect the information you need, then compare every line with the table above. These checks identify your configuration; they do not benchmark the game.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Check Windows edition and architecture. Open Settings > System > About and read “Windows specifications” and “System type.” Confirm that the system is 64-bit. The minimum row names 64-bit Windows 10; the recommended row names 64-bit Windows 11.
  2. Check processor and memory. Open Settings > System > About, or press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and select Performance. Record the CPU model and installed memory. The listed amount for both tiers is 16 GB RAM.
  3. Check the graphics processor. In Task Manager, open Performance > GPU. On systems with more than one GPU, note the discrete card as well as any integrated graphics. Compare the model with the GTX 1660/RX 590 minimum choices or RTX 3070/RX 6700 XT recommended choices.
  4. Check free storage. Open File Explorer > This PC and inspect the drive where you plan to install the game. Leave at least 50 GB available, as specified by Steam. Keeping additional free space can make updates easier, but the listing only states the 50 GB requirement.
  5. Confirm your network connection. WARDOGS is listed as an online PvP game and both tiers require broadband internet. The table does not define a minimum speed, latency, data cap or Wi-Fi standard, so those values cannot be inferred from the requirement.

How to compare an unlisted PC fairly

The most useful comparison starts with the graphics card and processor separately, then checks the constraints that can prevent either from operating normally. Do not turn a single component comparison into a guaranteed frame-rate claim.

Start with the GPU class

For 1080p Low, compare your card with the GTX 1660 or RX 590 named in the minimum row. For the recommended targets, compare it with the RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT. Laptop GPUs, cards with reduced power limits and systems that share memory with integrated graphics need particular caution because the store listing does not give separate laptop or integrated-graphics targets.

Then check the CPU class

Match your processor against the minimum pair or the recommended pair. A graphics card that appears fast enough can still be limited by a weaker CPU, especially in an online competitive game where frame-time consistency matters. The published requirements do not provide CPU utilization data or a processor-by-processor performance scale, so avoid assigning a percentage advantage from the names alone.

Check the platform constraints

Even a fast GPU and CPU do not satisfy the listing if the machine is running a 32-bit operating system, has less than 16 GB of RAM, lacks 50 GB of free space or cannot provide broadband connectivity. Check those items before deciding that an upgrade is necessary.

Settings that follow from the published targets

The store specification gives a starting point for a settings plan. It does not prove that every intermediate combination has been tested, but it does define the conditions attached to the two named tiers.

For a minimum-tier attempt

  • Begin at 1920×1080.
  • Select the Low preset.
  • Keep upscaling enabled, because the 60fps target is explicitly upscaled.
  • Use an in-game frame-rate display or an equivalent overlay to observe the result during actual play.
  • If performance is inconsistent, reduce demanding options one at a time and record what changes; do not assume that changing resolution alone preserves the published target.

For a recommended-tier attempt at 1440p

  • Use 2560×1440 and the Medium preset.
  • Start with native rendering, matching the stated 70fps-or-higher target.
  • If your display or system cannot sustain the target, test upscaling as a separate configuration; doing so no longer matches the native condition in the table.

For a recommended-tier attempt at 4K

  • Use 3840×2160 and Medium.
  • Enable upscaling, because the published 60fps-or-higher target includes that condition.
  • Check image quality at the chosen upscaling mode. The listing does not name a specific upscaler or internal resolution, so those details must be taken from the game’s own settings when available.

Understanding frame rate, frame time and online play

“60fps” and “70fps+” describe a frame-rate target, but a smooth competitive experience also depends on frame-time consistency. A system that averages 60fps while periodically stalling can feel worse than one that holds a lower but steadier rate. The Steam requirements do not publish one-percent-low figures, minimum frame rates, latency targets or server performance, so those aspects cannot be guaranteed from the table.

Network quality is a separate issue from rendering performance. A powerful PC can still experience high latency, packet loss or disconnects on an unstable connection. Conversely, a good connection cannot compensate for a GPU that cannot render the selected resolution and preset. Because WARDOGS is listed as online PvP, evaluate both sides independently: monitor frame rate and frame time on the PC, and monitor connection stability through your normal network diagnostics.

What the requirements do not tell you

  • No arbitrary-GPU FPS chart: Steam does not publish measured results for every graphics card.
  • No benchmark methodology: There is no stated map, match size, graphics API, driver, upscaler mode, test route or capture method attached to the targets.
  • No guarantee for a specific build: The requirement rows describe developer-published tiers, not a warranty of performance on a particular computer.
  • No detailed storage technology requirement: The listing states 50 GB available space but does not specify an SSD, hard-drive speed or installation-drive model.
  • No broadband definition: It does not give a download speed, upload speed, latency limit or data allowance.
  • No laptop equivalence table: Mobile CPU and GPU variants are not separately listed.
  • No future-proof promise: Early Access updates can alter game performance and the published requirements.

Upgrade decisions: what to change first

If your PC falls short, use the gap between your hardware and the named tiers to decide whether an upgrade is worthwhile. Buying a new graphics card is not automatically required for every player; the correct choice depends on which part is below the target and which resolution you want.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When the GPU is below the minimum

A graphics card below the GTX 1660/RX 590 class is outside the published minimum tier. The official information does not identify a lower preset, lower resolution or alternative upscaling mode that would make it meet the 1080p target. You can wait for tested results on your exact card, try the game if you have access, or plan a graphics upgrade, but do not treat the minimum target as applying to the weaker card.

When the CPU is below the minimum

A CPU below the Core i5-8600/Ryzen 5 3500 pair is also outside the published minimum. CPU replacement can involve a motherboard and memory-platform change, so check the complete system rather than buying a graphics card alone. The listing gives no evidence that a particular processor upgrade will produce a specific frame rate.

When you want the recommended targets

The named recommended graphics cards are the RTX 3070 and RX 6700 XT, paired with the Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X. If your system is near minimum, moving to the recommended tier is a substantial change in both CPU and GPU class. Decide first whether you need native 1440p at 70fps or higher, or 4K Medium at 60fps or higher with upscaling; those are different workloads and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Early Access and keeping the answer current

WARDOGS is identified on Steam as an Early Access title, with September 10, 2026 shown as its release date. Early Access means the game may receive changes that affect rendering load, shader compilation, maps, networking and optimization. A requirement table that is accurate on October 13, 2026 may be revised later by the developer or storefront.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Before purchasing new hardware or making a firm performance promise, reopen the official Steam listing and check the current minimum and recommended rows. Look for changes to the operating-system version, processor, GPU, memory, storage and the wording around native rendering or upscaling. If the listed target changes, use the new qualifiers rather than carrying forward an older interpretation.

A practical decision tree

  1. Are you on 64-bit Windows? If not, the system does not meet either published row.
  2. Do you have 16 GB of RAM and 50 GB free? If either answer is no, correct that constraint before judging graphics performance.
  3. Does your CPU meet at least the minimum pair? If not, your PC is below the published minimum and there is no evidence-based FPS estimate for it.
  4. Does your GPU meet at least the minimum pair? If yes, test at 1080p Low with upscaling; if no, the 60fps target is not established for your card.
  5. Do you want the recommended target? Compare against the recommended CPU and GPU pair, then select either native 1440p Medium at 70fps or higher or upscaled 4K Medium at 60fps or higher.
  6. Can your connection support online play reliably? Both tiers require broadband, but Steam does not publish a numerical network threshold.

Bottom line for different PC owners

Owners of a minimum-tier system

A PC matching the Core i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 3500, GTX 1660 or RX 590, 16 GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 10 and the other listed conditions is aligned with the published 1080p Low, 60fps, upscaled target. That is the correct expectation to test first, not a promise that every match will hold 60fps.

Owners of a recommended-tier system

A PC matching the Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X and RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT, with 16 GB RAM and the required platform conditions, is aligned with the published 1440p Medium native 70fps-or-higher target or the 4K Medium upscaled 60fps-or-higher target. Choose the target that matches your monitor and image-quality preference.

Owners of an unlisted or borderline system

The official table cannot provide a precise FPS answer for hardware it does not name. Compare every component, start with the closest published settings, and judge the result from a test of your own build. Keep the game’s Early Access status in mind when interpreting both current performance and future updates.
