Warfarer is a special vocation that only the Arisen, the player’s main character, can take in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It lets you switch between weapons belonging to other vocations and mix combat approaches that a single vocation cannot offer. The trade-off Capcom itself points to is that Warfarer’s basic stats are not high, and using many weapon types means carrying several weapons at once. Guide sources place the unlock with a character named Lamond, and they tie the Rearmament skill to a tome called the Grandmaster’s Path.
What Warfarer does
Capcom’s official Dragon’s Dogma 2 web manual lists Warfarer among the special vocations that only the Arisen can acquire, and summarizes it as a vocation that wields many kinds of weaponry. Capcom’s more detailed explanation comes from a January 31, 2024 PlayStation Blog article by Ken Mendoza, Promotion Producer at Capcom, titled New Dragon’s Dogma 2 trailer showcases Warfarer vocation, out March 22. That article describes Warfarer as a vocation that switches between the weapons of other vocations and can use all weapon types and core skills.
Mendoza’s article gives the clearest statement of the restriction:
“The Warfarer is a vocation exclusive to the main character, the Arisen.”

The same article frames Warfarer as a way to combine vocation strengths rather than replace them. Its example is using a Trickster’s illusions to open a window for an attack spell.
Strengths and trade-offs
Warfarer’s appeal is breadth. Because it draws on weapons from other vocations, a player can change how they fight within a single vocation instead of rebuilding a character to try a new role. The flip side is that Capcom’s producer specifically warns about the cost of that flexibility, and the points below separate what the sources confirm from what they leave open.

Warfarer suits a player who enjoys planning combinations and is willing to manage a larger weapon loadout. A player who wants the sturdiest basic stats for a single, focused role has a clear reason to weigh the producer’s warning before committing.
How to unlock Warfarer
Capcom’s manual does not include a Warfarer quest walkthrough, so the unlock steps below come from Gamer Guides’ Grandmaster’s Path database entry, a third-party game database. Treat them as a guide route rather than official text, and check your in-game journal and dialogue options if your save differs.

The sources do not state whether any other prerequisites, such as a minimum character level, apply to this sequence.
What Rearmament does
Rearmament is the skill that handles Warfarer’s weapon switching. Capcom’s producer article confirms the switching mechanic itself, and Gamer Guides identifies the Grandmaster’s Path as the tome that teaches Rearmament. The sources do not specify the button inputs, the number of weapon slots, or a full skill setup, so check the Rearmament entry in your in-game skill menu before planning a build around it.

Dark Arisen and what is still unconfirmed
Capcom Town Store’s Japanese announcement, dated June 29, 2026, states that Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026, and that Steam pre-orders are available through Capcom Town Store. The announcement is specific to that Japanese store and does not establish availability elsewhere. Dark Arisen is an expansion, so a base-game listing does not include it.
The announcement covers release context only. It does not confirm any change to Warfarer’s mechanics, so the switching behavior and trade-offs described above remain the base-game version as documented by Capcom.

An unofficial fan wiki’s Warfarer guide, updated September 3, 2026, includes a “Title Update 3.2” reference, six Warfarer skill slots, a 10% penalty, and an expansion described as Dark Arisen. None of these mechanics appear in the official sources reviewed, and parts of that page are dated after today, so do not treat its figures as verified. No verified numeric statistic about Warfarer’s performance is available from the sources reviewed.
