Speak with High Factotum Janris Danrok on the voidship bridge, agree to investigate the malfunctioning servitors, and complete the inspection before choosing their fate. The final decision aligns with one of three convictions: examine the units for Hereticus, dispose of them for Iconoclast, or order them back to work for Dogmatic.

How to start the defective servitors errand

  1. Go to the voidship bridge and speak with High Factotum Janris Danrok.
  2. When Danrok brings up the malfunctioning servitors, agree to look into the problem. Walkthroughs place this errand in Chapter 1, though the precise trigger point may vary with progression. See the Neoseeker walkthrough and the GameFAQs Chapter 1 guide.

How to investigate the servitors

The errand plays out as a book-style episode. Follow the investigation dialogue before making a final decision: inspect a unit’s components, request a report from the technomats, examine the servitors, and continue through the remaining prompts until the outcome choice appears. Dialogue numbering differs between walkthroughs, so follow the actions and visible choices rather than relying on a numbered sequence. The Neoseeker walkthrough describes the investigation sequence.

Which outcome to choose

The final choice is a conviction decision. Choose according to the route you want to support:

Conviction goal Servitor decision Availability or context
Hereticus Examine the servitors; a Blade Shard option is also associated with this conviction. The Blade Shard choice depends on having retained the item, so it may not be available in every playthrough. GameSkinny’s choices guide associates these options with Hereticus.
Iconoclast Dispose of the servitors. The GameFAQs conviction appendix records disposal as an Iconoclast choice.
Dogmatic Order the servitors to continue toiling. The GameFAQs conviction appendix records this as a Dogmatic choice made aboard the voidship.

The cited guides establish the conviction associations and quest completion, but do not establish a unique material reward for any one outcome.

What to know about the old disposal bug

Neoseeker’s walkthrough reported that disposing of the servitors early had prevented completion for that author. A later update record lists a fix for the quest failing to complete when the player asked the Factotum to get rid of them: Update 1.2.1.7, dated September 24, 2024 in the SteamDB patch-note archive. Treat the earlier warning as historical, not as confirmation of a current bug; the patch record does not independently establish behavior on every later platform build.
