If Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II crashes on PS5—closing to the home screen, freezing mid-mission, or shutting down the console—Saber Interactive’s recommended order is to fully power-cycle the PS5, check for game and system updates, clear the system software cache and rebuild the database in Safe Mode, inspect ventilation, and reinstall the game only if needed. These steps are troubleshooting, not a guaranteed fix; if the crashes continue, send Saber a report with your in-game KSID.
Try these PS5 troubleshooting steps in order
Saber Interactive’s PS5 crash guide moves from quick checks to more involved steps. It does not assign a success rate to any step, so work through them without assuming one cause explains every crash.
1. Fully shut down and power-cycle the PS5
- Shut the console down completely; do not use Rest Mode.
- Wait until the indicator light stops flashing.
- Unplug the PS5 power cable for two minutes, reconnect it, and start the console.
A full power cycle is different from leaving the console in Rest Mode.
2. Check for game and system updates
- Game: Open the game library, highlight Space Marine 2, press Options, and select Check for Update.
- PS5 system software: Open Settings → System → System Software → System Software Update and Settings.
Focus Entertainment announced on October 1, 2026 that Anniversary Update II, also called Patch 15, was released for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Its announcement describes update content but does not identify a fix for a particular PS5 crash. Check for current updates, but do not assume Patch 15 will resolve an individual problem: Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15 announcement.

3. Clear the cache and rebuild the database in Safe Mode
- Turn the PS5 completely off.
- Hold the console’s power button until the second beep, which comes about seven seconds after the first, to enter Safe Mode.
- Connect the controller to the console with a USB cable and press the PS button.
- Choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database → Clear System Software Cache.
- After the cache operation, return to Safe Mode and run Rebuild Database.
Saber says these Safe Mode steps do not delete games or saves. Cache clearing and rebuilding the database are separate operations; do both as directed.
4. Check airflow and dust
- Leave 10–15 cm of open space on all sides of the console.
- Avoid a closed cabinet. Place the PS5 on a flat, hard surface, not carpet or on top of other electronics.
- If dust is visible around the exhaust vents, power the console down, unplug it, and clear the dust with compressed air.
This is a check of placement and dust, not evidence that a cooling stand or other accessory will fix a game crash.

5. Reinstall the game if earlier steps do not help
Before deleting the game, verify the status of your own save data. Saber’s crash guide discusses account progress and cloud saves, but that is not a substitute for checking your save status before removing anything.
- Open Settings → Storage → Games and Apps and delete Space Marine 2.
- Reinstall it from your Game Library.
Saber describes reinstalling as a way to replace game files. Focus Entertainment’s PlayStation 5 support page also lists reinstalling among steps for launch problems.

If the game still crashes
Submit an issue report through Saber Interactive’s crash-report flow. Find your in-game KSID in the lower-left corner of the pause menu; Saber requests it first for crash cases. Add a screenshot or short video if you can. Saber notes that replies may take longer during updates, hotfixes, patches, or holidays.
