Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition is a refreshed release of the original 2011 action game, with its previously released DLC and publisher-described upgrades to visuals, audio, controls, and interface. It launched on June 10, 2025, for PC and Xbox Series X|S; the announcement also included Xbox Game Pass availability at launch.
What is Space Marine Master Crafted Edition?
It is a new edition of Captain Titus’s fight to defend the forge world Graia from Orks and a more dangerous threat. The core game remains a third-person action shooter built around switching between ranged weapons such as bolters and melee weapons such as chainswords. SEGA described the release as a “thoughtful restoration,” updated by SneakyBox, rather than a new game. SEGA’s announcement outlines the changes.
When did Master Crafted Edition release?
SEGA announced the edition on May 22, 2025, and released it on June 10, 2025. It is already available; the “surprise” framing refers to the announcement, not an upcoming launch.
What changed from the original Space Marine?
SEGA’s feature description lists 4K resolution on PC and Xbox Series X, improved textures and character models, remastered audio, modernized controls, and an overhauled interface. The technical work also includes a graphics-engine overhaul, replacing the original Flash-based interface, and moving from 32-bit to 64-bit. These are publisher-described upgrades, not independent performance-test results.

SEGA also said the Orks’ identity was updated to align with current Warhammer 40,000 lore, with new character models and “over 100 new voice lines.” The number and description are the publisher’s claims. The announcement quotes SneakyBox Producer Vaidas Mikelskas saying the team aimed to “preserve the spirit of the original while modernizing the experience for today’s players.”

The official listings support PC and Xbox Series X|S. The Xbox listing identifies Xbox Play Anywhere, and SEGA announced Xbox Game Pass availability at launch. The official sources reviewed do not list a PlayStation version, so a PS5 release is not established. They also do not explain why PlayStation is absent from those listings.
Prices vary by territory and can change. SEGA’s 2025 announcement gave a UK launch price of £34.99; the U.S. Xbox listing displayed $39.99 when accessed on October 8, 2026. Neither figure should be read as a permanent or global price—check the store for your region.
