The original Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition was reported unavailable for separate purchase on Steam and the Epic Games Store in October 2024, shortly before Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered arrived. That was a dated, storefront-specific change—not proof that the game disappeared from every PC store or that existing owners lost access. The remaster’s launch-era PSN sign-in requirement has also changed: Sony made sign-in optional on PC in January 2025.
What happened to the original PC edition?
On October 7, 2024, GameSpot reported that the original Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition had been delisted from Steam and the Epic Games Store as the remaster approached. The Steam page was still visible, but the game could no longer be purchased there as a separate listing, according to the report. GameSpot’s October 2024 report supports that account for those storefronts at that time; it does not establish present-day availability in every country or PC store.

The reported removal concerned buying the original edition as a separate product. It did not say that people who already owned it would lose access. Nor does it establish that the original vanished from all PC retail channels. Check the relevant store in your country for current listings and prices rather than treating the 2024 report as a live availability notice.
Does the remaster still require a PSN account on PC?
No. Sony’s September 2024 announcement said a PlayStation Network account would be required to play the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. On January 29, 2025, Sony announced that PSN sign-in would become optional for the remaster on PC. Players who choose to sign in receive in-game benefits; signing in is not a requirement to play. Sony’s January 2025 announcement supersedes the original launch-era requirement.
