What is Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons?
Warlock is an original third-person, single-player action-adventure set in a dark fantasy open world inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. Wizards of the Coast is publishing the game, with Invoke Studios developing it. Hasbro announced it on December 11, 2025, as WARLOCK: DUNGEONS & DRAGONS.

The title refers to the kind of power Kaatri gains: she is an experienced warrior who enters a dangerous pact with Tasha, a witch, and wields otherworldly magic. The official announcement says Tricia Helfer provides full performance capture for Kaatri.
Who is Kaatri, and where does the story take place?
Kaatri’s search for someone she has lost takes her to Darkon, a realm threatened by strange mists. The official Warlock site describes a world of crumbling castles, forbidden dungeons, monsters, and hidden power. Its premise establishes the personal search and the pact at the center of the story, but does not identify the person Kaatri is looking for.

How does gameplay work?
The official site presents combat and exploration as a mix of spells, melee weapons, and interaction with the environment. Its spell list is explicitly partial, so these examples should not be taken as the complete set of abilities:
- Black Tentacles holds nearby objects or enemies in place.
- Downpour creates localized rain that drenches enemies and alters the immediate environment.
- Eldritch Blast fires a ranged force beam that can damage objects and enemies.
- Fey Switch swaps Kaatri’s position with a nearby monster.
- Gust of Wind pushes enemies or objects, disperses gas, or fans flames.
- Levitate lifts enemies or objects.
- Misty Step enables a short-distance teleport or momentary defensive evasion.
- Otherworldly Leap carries Kaatri through a long jump that can end in a melee attack.
- Tasha’s Leash pulls objects or enemies toward Kaatri.
- Witch Bolt deals lightning damage and can travel through nearby conductive materials such as liquid and metal.
A Gamescom 2026 demo report by Xbox Wire described additional examples of using magic on scenery: throwing objects at enemies, turning a boulder into cover against an arrow trap, and drawing water from a pond to put out a fire. The report also relayed the developers’ description of quests that rely on gathering clues and investigating rather than following waypoints through each story beat. These are details from a reported demo and developer explanations, not a guarantee that every quest or encounter will work the same way in the finished game.

When does Warlock come out, and what platforms are confirmed?
The announced release window is 2027. The official announcement and current platform listings name PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox; Xbox Wire specifies Xbox Series X|S. The reviewed sources give a year, not a day or month, so there is no confirmed exact release date to report.
