What happened to the Wonder Woman game?
The game is canceled. Warner Bros. Games said: “The development of Monolith’s Wonder Woman video game will not move forward.” The publisher added that it had hoped to deliver a high-quality experience for the character but that doing so was no longer possible within its strategic priorities. Monolith announced the project in 2021. The available reporting does not establish a release date, confirmed platforms, final budget, or complete development timeline, so there is no supported basis for saying when it might have launched.

Why did Warner Bros. cancel the game?
The publisher’s stated reason was strategic: the Wonder Woman project no longer fit its priorities, and the studio closures were part of a change in direction. Warner Bros. Games said it was focusing development and investment on Harry Potter, Mortal Kombat, DC, and Game of Thrones. It also said its goal was to return the games business to “profitability and growth in 2025 and beyond.” That was a stated goal, not a reported outcome.
Contemporary coverage placed the decision amid broader business difficulties and performance concerns involving other Warner Bros. Games releases. Those reports provide context, but they are separate from the company’s explanation; Warner Bros. Games did not identify another game’s performance as the official reason for canceling Wonder Woman. The confirmed points are the three studio closures and the cancellation of Monolith’s Wonder Woman game. The publisher did not provide a release date, platform list, budget, or detailed account of the project’s development. Those details should not be inferred from the game’s 2021 announcement or from reporting about Warner Bros. Games’ wider business.
