Yes. A July 2025 report said a seller had listed one Magic: The Gathering Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos Emerald bonus card for $1,750. That was an asking price—not proof that anyone bought it for that amount, and not evidence of the card’s current value.
What does the $1,750 figure actually mean?
The figure comes from a July 2025 SegaBits forum post quoting TheGamer’s coverage of a seller asking $1,750 for a single Chaos Emerald card. The available report does not establish that the listing resulted in a sale. It should therefore be described as “listed for” or “asking,” not “sold for” or “worth” (SegaBits forum post, July 2025).
An asking price is what a seller hopes to receive. A completed transaction is evidence that a buyer paid a particular amount. Without a verifiable completed-sale record for the exact card, variant, condition, and currency, the reported listing cannot establish a market price.
What was the MTG Sonic release?
Wizards of the Coast announced The Sonic Superdrop on June 27, 2025. It brought together three limited-quantity Secret Lair drops: Friends & Foes, Turbo Gear, and Chasing Adventure. The announcement described the release as a Magic: The Gathering and Sonic crossover (Wizards of the Coast, June 27, 2025).

How does the bonus-card report relate to the official sale?
Wizards’ production and shipping status page records July 14, 2025, as the sale date for The Sonic Superdrop and lists US and EU/UK order windows later that year. It identifies the three drops and bundle configurations, then states: “No unique promotional products offered with this specific sale” (Wizards of the Coast, production and shipping status).

That official sale record documents the advertised products and sale information; it does not confirm the reported individual listings, publish Chaos Emerald distribution odds, or provide a completed-sale price. The forum-reported listing and the official sale record answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable evidence.

- A single individual card
- Exact identity and version: Make sure the record is for a Chaos Emerald bonus card, not one of the main Secret Lair cards or a different item.
- Printing and finish: Match the foil or other printing treatment where it is specified.
- Condition: Compare cards in similar condition; a listing with no condition details is harder to evaluate.
- Price details: Note the currency, shipping, and geography, and whether the displayed amount is an asking price or a completed sale.
- Date: Use recent records for a present-day estimate rather than carrying forward a listing reported in 2025.
No current listing, completed-sale record, or official bonus-card odds figure is established by the cited sources, so they do not support a current valuation or a claim about how likely a buyer was to receive a Chaos Emerald.
