No: Football Manager 26 was not officially ranked Steam’s seventh-worst game. That wording came from a Steam Community post on November 5, 2025, the day after the game’s listed release, and referred to a third-party list. The phrase is best understood as a dated launch-week claim—not a Valve all-time ranking or a complete verdict on whether to buy the game.
Where did the “7th worst” claim come from?
A Steam user posted on November 5, 2025, that FM26 was “currently the 7th worst Steam game of all time,” linking to a third-party list. The thread also included disagreement about the review percentage and the effect of language filters. FM26’s listed release date was November 4, 2025. A ranking assembled around launch can change as reviews arrive, and its position depends on the list’s data and criteria. Treat “seventh worst” as a launch-week headline, not a stable Steam designation.
What do the review numbers actually say?
The figures below describe different review populations and time windows. They should not be treated as a like-for-like trend line: one is FM Scout’s first-week calculation, another is a live Steam English-language snapshot, and another is FM Scout’s broader collected dataset.

The launch-week figure is the clearest support for describing the initial reception as very poor: FM Scout calculated 24.2% positive from 17,164 reviews in that first seven-day period. The later Steam snapshot shows a different picture for the English and recent-review populations, but neither can be substituted for the launch-week measure. Review language, time window, and collection method matter.
Did Football Manager 26 change after launch?
SEGA Sammy Holdings’ Q3 released-titles presentation reports that the company “Released a series of updates to address post-launch bugs, etc and improved the gameplay environment.” It also says continued dialogue with the community was intended to improve quality and fan satisfaction. The presentation does not quantify any effect of those updates on review scores, so the existence of post-launch work should not be presented as proof that ratings improved because of it. Which version of FM26 are you considering?
Football Manager 26 is a family of platform-specific editions, not one identical build available everywhere. The official launch announcement lists PC/Mac, Xbox and PS5 console versions, Touch on Apple Arcade, Mobile through Netflix, and a Switch Touch release announced for December 4, 2025. The publisher says editions have significant differences to suit each platform, so a feature or mode available in one version should not be assumed to exist in another. - PC/Mac: The Steam listing covers the PC/Mac product; the announcement also lists PC/Mac access through Game Pass.
- Xbox and PS5: Console editions are listed separately from the PC/Mac release.
- Apple Arcade Touch and Netflix Mobile: These are platform-specific Touch and Mobile editions, respectively.
- Switch Touch: The announcement gave December 4, 2025, as its release date.
Is FM26 worth buying now?
The “7th worst” label alone cannot answer that. If you are deciding about the Steam version, the useful evidence is the current store snapshot—38% positive among 9,388 English reviews and 56% positive among 399 recent reviews when checked October 8, 2026—alongside the much poorer first-week result reported by FM Scout. Those numbers are time- and population-specific, not a guarantee of your experience or a score shared by every edition.

For a console, Touch, Mobile, or Switch purchase, look at reviews and details for that exact edition rather than assuming Steam feedback maps perfectly to it. The official announcement confirms availability and platform differences, while SEGA’s presentation confirms post-launch updates; neither source establishes that every launch concern was resolved or that all editions received the same changes.
