These are editorial rankings, not official balance data or a guarantee that a character will suit every mode, build, or player.
Pocket Gamer’s Waven tier list for version 0.23.7
The tiers below reproduce Pocket Gamer’s October 5, 2026 snapshot. The site says its SS picks perform strongly across pretty much every mode, but it does not describe controlled tests, specific builds, player level, or a scoring formula in the accessible article text. Read the letters as that publisher’s comparative judgment, not measured win rates or an official Ankama ranking. Characters within each tier are listed without implying a precise order.
| Tier | Characters |
|---|---|
| SS | Flamboyant Kasai (Iop); Hioplite Paladir (Iop); Arcarius Paladir (Cra); Brutal Fairblade (Iop); Varaclus Blade (Eniripsa) |
| S | Shiru Shaden (Cra); Sicarius Paladin (Sram); Glaive Stalaktoss (Iop); Scalpel Apostruker (Eniripsa); Astramantis (Iop); Bouvalor Orok (Iop) |
| A | Amber Tamashi (Eniripsa); Blunderbust (Cra); Ken Kartana (Sram); Jikan Sandiaton (Xelor) |
| B | Spectral Armabladegeddon (Iop); Koroko Brush (Eniripsa); Okus Piktus Paladir (Eniripsa); Pikuxala Hand (Xelor); Tako Synchronizater (Xelor); Premium Catalyst (Xelor); Gurpapa Regulator (Xelor) |
| C | Dephasing Gem (Eniripsa); Piven Bow (Cra); Orishi Shears (Sram); Buneblade (Cra); Surokan Shiv (Sram); Shugen Flayer (Sram) |
| D | Amurai Blade (Sram); Zandiezer Zo (Cra) |
Pocket Gamer’s Waven tier list says many characters remain viable; a lower placement can mean slower clears rather than an unusable character. The list is specific to its dated snapshot, and the publisher notes that buffs and nerfs can change placements.
Why Flamboyant Kasai is in SS
Pocket Gamer describes Flamboyant Kasai as a damage-focused hero whose class passive adds one Sword Aura of the same element when he applies an elemental state to opponents. That interaction is part of the publisher’s reasoning; it is not a claim that every build or matchup will produce the same results.

Why other Waven tier lists disagree
Tier letters are not a shared measurement scale. Lists can reflect different dates, character variants, builds, activities, and editorial criteria. For example, Mobi.gg’s list, updated July 28, 2026, places Brutal Fairblade in S rather than Pocket Gamer’s SS, Buneblade in S rather than C, and Arcarius Paladir in A rather than SS. The guides should not be merged or averaged as if they used the same test.
Guidactik’s tier list discloses a different approach: it considers versatility across varied fights and enjoyment, and says classes are not ordered within tiers because strength can be unpredictable across Waven fights and mechanics. Its testers reportedly tried all classes mostly at level 50, with a minimum level of 30 and at least three builds. That describes Guidactik’s process, not Pocket Gamer’s.

- MEANINGFUL PLAYER INTERACTION: Direct competition, shifting control, and strategic positioning keep both players engaged throughout the battle. Every action influences your opponent’s options and future plans.

How to choose a character for your own play
A tier list answers which characters a guide rates highly under its assumptions. Your actual fit also depends on what you play, how you build, and which mechanics you enjoy. Waven is a tactical RPG with PvE and PvP modes; Ankama’s official factsheet describes preparing a deck for battle. Character names alone do not define a complete setup: spells, equipment, companions, and their combinations are part of the game.
- Choose for your activity: Consider whether you mainly want PvE, PvP, or another activity. A ranking that treats performance broadly may not answer which character fits a particular fight or objective.
- Look at the mechanics, not only the tier: If you enjoy tactical movement and placement, Guidactik highlights Xelor Pikuxala’s teleport and placement mechanics. Its lower Pocket Gamer placement does not erase that playstyle appeal.
- Account for the build: Deck choices and combinations of spells, equipment, and companions can change how a character performs. Compare guides only when their build assumptions and intended content are reasonably similar.
- Try what you like: Mobi.gg encourages players to test classes and find what suits them. Pocket Gamer also says many characters remain viable, so a favorite outside SS is not automatically a poor choice.
Check the version before relying on a ranking
Pocket Gamer’s list is explicitly for version 0.23.7 and was updated October 5, 2026. Ankama’s official Steam community update discusses planned class and spell simplification, including a common spell base, as well as planned changes to competitive modes and decks. That update describes development direction; it does not by itself establish which changes had shipped by October 7, 2026. When a ranking matters to a build decision, compare its version and date with the game you are playing and check current developer notes.
