The exact application cannot be identified from the filename alone. It may be an old business program, development tool, utility, or another application built with WINDEV 7.5.

Historical reports show several WINDEV 7.5 runtime builds, including 7.50Fzk, 7.50Ela, and patched releases. That matters because replacing the file with an arbitrary copy from another application can leave you with the wrong build even when the error message disappears.
First, identify the application that needs the file
Do this before copying or downloading anything.
- Write down the full error message and the name of the program shown in the title bar.
- Right-click the shortcut that launches the program.
- Select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, read the Target field.
- Note the folder containing the executable.
- Select Open File Location if that button is available.
- Look in that application folder for
wd75vm.dlland other files withWDorWINDEVin their names.
If the program is already closed, search for the executable:

- Press Windows key + S.
- Search for the program name.
- Right-click the result and select Open file location.
- If this opens a shortcut folder, right-click the shortcut again and choose Open file location.
The executable’s folder is important because Windows normally searches there when loading an application DLL. Microsoft documents this behavior in its DLL search order documentation.
Do not assume the application is identified just because you found a file named wd75vm.dll. Check the shortcut target, the executable’s Properties, the installer name, and any vendor documentation.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the owning application
This is the most likely solution.
If the application has a repair option
- Press Windows key + I.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the application that produced the error.
- Select the three-dot menu on Windows 11, or select the application entry on Windows 10.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
If there is no Repair option, open the application’s original installer and look for Repair, Modify, or Maintenance.

If repair is unavailable
Uninstall and reinstall the application from one of these sources, in this order:
- The application’s original installer
- Recovery media supplied with the application
- A backup of the complete application directory
- The application’s publisher or internal IT administrator
Before uninstalling, back up the application’s documents, database files, configuration files, and license information. Old programs sometimes store data inside their installation directory.
After reinstalling, check the application’s folder rather than System32. The matching wd75vm.dll should normally be deployed with the application and its other WINDEV runtime files. Current PC SOFT deployment guidance describes the general model of shipping required WINDEV framework files with a deployed application, but it does not establish a current standalone download for this old DLL.

A newer WINDEV framework is not automatically compatible with a WINDEV 7.5 executable.
Fix 2: Check whether security software removed the file
Antivirus software may quarantine an old runtime because the application is obsolete, unsigned, packed, or behaves differently from modern software.

- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving the application’s folder or
wd75vm.dll. - Verify that the application and installer came from a trusted original source.
- If the quarantine event is clearly a false positive, use Actions and choose Restore.
- Reinstall the application if the file cannot be restored.
Do not disable antivirus protection to accept an unverified DLL download. If the file is restored but disappears again, contact the application’s publisher or administrator and obtain a clean installer.
Third-party security software has its own quarantine screen. Open that product directly and review its detection history.
Fix 3: Check the application folder and permissions
A file can exist and still fail to load if it is in the wrong directory, blocked, damaged, or inaccessible.
- Open the folder containing the failing
.exe. - Confirm that
wd75vm.dllis beside the executable or in the runtime location specified by the application. - Right-click the DLL and select Properties.
- On the General tab, look for an Unblock checkbox.
- If present, select Unblock, then choose Apply.

Running as administrator is a diagnostic step, not the preferred permanent configuration. If it works only as administrator, the application likely needs access to a protected folder or is trying to write beside its executable. Ask the publisher where the application should be installed rather than granting broad permissions.
If the program is running from a network share, removable drive, synchronized folder, or compressed archive, reinstall or copy the complete trusted application to a normal local folder and test again. Do not copy only the DLL.

Public evidence strongly points to wd75vm.dll being used by 32-bit WINDEV 7.5 applications. A 32-bit application can run on 64-bit Windows through WOW64, but it still needs the correct 32-bit runtime.
Do not use these substitutions:
- A DLL from WINDEV 8, WINDEV 10, or another release
- A renamed
wd10vm.dllor other WINDEV DLL - A file copied from a different application
- A patched file from an unrelated installation
- A file copied into
C:WindowsSystem32orC:WindowsSysWOW64
To check whether the executable is 32-bit, right-click it, choose Properties, and inspect the Details tab. The tab may not state the architecture for every old executable. If it does not, ask the application publisher or use a trusted dependency-analysis tool supplied by your organization.
If the DLL is present but the program still reports it as missing, the actual problem may be a missing dependency, an incompatible build, or a failure inside the old runtime. Restore the complete runtime package from the original application instead of replacing one file at a time.

Fix 5: Investigate crashes where wd75vm.dll is named
Not every wd75vm.dll message means the file is absent. Historical WINDEV diagnostic reports identify WD75VM.DLL as the module involved in access violations, missing project files, and other runtime failures.

If the program starts and then crashes:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- Find the error at the time of the crash.
- Record the failing application name, exception information, and faulting module.
- Check whether the crash happens with one document or every launch.
A crash inside wd75vm.dll can indicate an old application defect, a damaged data file, an incompatible Windows behavior, or a missing dependency. It does not prove that the DLL itself is defective.
Try the application’s compatibility settings:
- Right-click the program shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Select Run this program in compatibility mode for.

Fix 6: Repair broader Windows component corruption
Windows repair commands cannot normally restore wd75vm.dll because it is not a protected Windows component. Use them only when other Windows applications are also failing.
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its system file repair procedure.
Repeating SFC and DISM will not produce the correct WINDEV runtime if the owning application was incompletely installed. Fix 7: Check drivers only if the symptoms point there
Device drivers are not the normal source of wd75vm.dll errors, and Device Manager will not download this application runtime. Check drivers only if the program began failing immediately after a graphics, storage, printer, or chipset change.
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the device category related to the failure.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Record the provider and version.
- Use Update Driver or obtain the driver from the hardware manufacturer’s official support page.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
Do not use Device Manager to replace wd75vm.dll. Do not download a random DLL

Use the original application’s installer, recovery media, publisher, or administrator instead. No verified current standalone PC SOFT download for this exact DLL should be assumed.
Do not copy it into System32
wd75vm.dll is application-specific. Copying it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64 can create conflicts and does not repair the application that originally installed it.

Do not use regsvr32
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose a COM or ActiveX self-registration entry point. wd75vm.dll is a WINDEV runtime module, not evidence of a self-registering component. Registering it will usually fail or do nothing useful.
Do not rename another WINDEV DLL
Renaming a newer or different runtime to wd75vm.dll can cause crashes, incorrect behavior, or silent data corruption. Restore the exact runtime set instead.
Do not install unrelated runtimes first
Visual C++, DirectX, .NET, and Windows Features are not established sources for this file. Installing them may be appropriate for a different error, but they are not the first response to a missing WINDEV 7.5 runtime.
