bdcap32.dll is a 32-bit Bandicam Capture Library file used by Bandicam, games, and other applications that bundle the Bandicam SDK. If it is missing or cannot load, repair the application that installed it rather than copying a random DLL into System32.
The most reliable fix is to verify or reinstall the affected game or program from its official launcher or installer, then check whether antivirus software quarantined the file or whether one of its dependencies is missing.

bdcap32.dll is part of Bandicam Capture Library, also called the Bandicam SDK or Bandi Capture Library. It provides video-capture functions for applications and games, including capture through Direct3D, OpenGL, and GDI.

The expected location is normally the folder containing the program that uses it. Bandicam’s SDK documentation describes bdcap32.dll, bdcore32.dll, and vcomp90.dll as application-side files installed beside the customer’s executable. That means a missing file in a game folder should be repaired through that game, not through a separate Windows DLL download.
Public file metadata identifies bdcap32.dll as a 32-bit library. Reported historical records include the following builds:

These are reported file-index records, not a complete vendor version list. Do not replace an older application copy with whichever version you find online. The program may require the exact build shipped with it.

The exact wording may vary:
- “The program can’t start because bdcap32.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because bdcap32.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading bdcap32.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “Failed to load bdcap32.dll.”
- “bdcap32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
“The specified module could not be found” does not always mean the named file is absent. Windows may have found bdcap32.dll but failed to find a dependency that the library needs.
Fix 1: Identify the program that owns the DLL
Before downloading or replacing anything, find the executable that is reporting the error.
Check the error window
Read the title bar and message carefully. The application name may identify whether the problem belongs to Bandicam, a game, or another capture-enabled program.
If the message does not identify it:
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. - Select Details.
- Look for the program you tried to start.
- Right-click it and choose Open file location.
- Note the folder containing the executable.
If the program closes too quickly:
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
eventvwr.mscand press Enter. - Open Windows Logs and select Application.
- Look for an error at the time of the failed launch.
- Record the Faulting application path and the full error text.
The parent program is the one whose folder should normally contain bdcap32.dll. Do not assume that reinstalling Bandicam will repair a separately bundled copy inside a game.

This is the highest-probability fix for a missing or damaged application DLL.
If it is a game
Open the game launcher and look for a file-repair command. Common labels include Verify, Verify integrity, Repair, Scan and repair, or Check files.

The exact clicks depend on the launcher, but the process is usually:
- Close the game.
- Open its official launcher.
- Open your library or installed-games list.
- Select the affected game.
- Open its settings, properties, or three-dot menu.
- Choose Verify, Repair, or the equivalent.
- Wait for the scan and replacement process to finish.
- Restart Windows if the launcher requests it.
- Start the game again.
A successful repair restores the copy expected by that game. If the launcher reports that files were replaced but the error remains, check the game’s installation folder and confirm that bdcap32.dll is beside the relevant executable.
If it is Bandicam
Download the installer from Bandicam’s official website, close Bandicam, and run the setup again. If Windows says Bandicam is still in use:
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Open the Details tab.
- Select
bdcam.exeif it is present. - Choose End task.
- Run the official installer again.
A repaired installation should place the library in Bandicam’s own application directory. It will not necessarily repair a copy bundled inside another program.
If there is no repair option
Uninstall the affected application through Settings:
- Press
Windows+I. - Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps.
- Find the affected program.
- Select the three-dot menu and choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the program from its official installer or launcher.
Back up saved games and application settings first if that program stores them locally. Do not copy bdcap32.dll from another installation into the new folder unless the application’s own support instructions specifically require it.

Security software may remove or quarantine a legitimate file, particularly after an application update changes its binary.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning
bdcap32.dllor the parent application. - Expand the entry and inspect the detected file path.
- If it came from the legitimate application folder and you have confirmed the installer is genuine, review the available action.
Microsoft explains the quarantine and restore workflow in Protection History in Windows Security.
Restore the file only when its origin is clear and the detection appears to be a false positive. If Defender removed it rather than quarantining it, reinstall the parent application instead. Do not disable antivirus protection just to copy an unverified DLL.

If the file was detected in a temporary folder, an unfamiliar download directory, or a location unrelated to the application, do not restore it. Run a full Microsoft Defender scan and reinstall the affected program from its official source.
Fix 4: Repair the required 32-bit runtime
bdcap32.dll is a 32-bit library. That remains true even when Windows itself is 64-bit. A 32-bit application needs the x86 runtime components it was built against.
Bandicam’s SDK has historically included vcomp90.dll, the Visual C++ 2008-era OpenMP runtime, as a separate application-side file. The safest approach is still to repair or reinstall the parent application, because its installer may contain the exact dependency set.
If the application’s documentation or installer identifies a Visual C++ dependency:
- Open Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.
- Download the x86 package for a 32-bit application.
- Close the affected program.
- Run the installer.
- Choose Repair if it is already installed, or complete the installation if it is absent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application again.
Installing only the x64 package does not satisfy a 32-bit program. Installing both architectures can be appropriate when different applications need them, but it does not make a 32-bit bdcap32.dll interchangeable with a 64-bit library.

Windows normally searches the application directory early when loading a DLL. If someone moved only the executable, deleted “unused” files, or ran a disk-cleanup tool against the program folder, the loader may no longer find the library or its dependencies.
Do not move bdcap32.dll to C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. Those are not established normal installation locations for this application library, and placing a DLL there can create version conflicts or security problems.
Instead:
- Undo the move if the original folder is available.
- Restore the complete application directory from backup if it is known to be clean.
- Otherwise use the launcher’s repair function.
- If repair is unavailable, reinstall the application.

Fix 6: Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a general-purpose DLL installation command.

bdcap32.dll is a runtime capture library loaded by its parent application. There is no established evidence that it is a COM or ActiveX component that needs registration. Running:
regsvr32 bdcap32.dll
will usually produce another error or change nothing. It will not restore a missing dependency, repair an incomplete game installation, or make an incompatible DLL work.

Because bdcap32.dll is a third-party application file, DISM and SFC are not normal replacements for reinstalling the owning program. Use them when multiple unrelated applications show system-file errors, Windows servicing is failing, or other protected Windows components are damaged.
First run DISM:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and choose Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Restart Windows.
Then open an elevated Command Prompt again and run:
sfc /scannow
Wait until verification reaches 100 percent, restart, and test the application.
These commands repair protected Windows components. They will not normally recreate a missing Bandicam DLL.
When manually repeating SFC and DISM leaves you unsure what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for the issues it detects and show what needs repair; fixing those findings requires the full version, but reinstalling the affected game or application remains the definitive fix for its missing DLL.
Fix 8: Consider drivers only if the application reports a graphics or capture failure
A graphics-driver problem can prevent a capture-enabled application from starting correctly, but it is not the usual cause of a missing bdcap32.dll message. Do not begin by changing drivers when the application folder is incomplete.
If the error changes to a graphics initialization or capture-device failure after the DLL is restored:

- Right-click Start and choose Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click your graphics adapter.
- Choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the program.
You can also install the current driver from the GPU manufacturer’s official support page. Windows Features and DirectX repair are not routine replacements for this application DLL.

Why random DLL downloads are a bad fix
Downloading bdcap32.dll from an unrelated DLL website can give you:
- Malware or a tampered file
- The wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture
- An incompatible application release
- A file without the expected dependencies
- A copy that causes DLL search-order or version conflicts
Microsoft describes these security risks in Dynamic-Link Library Security. Use the affected game’s official launcher, the official Bandicam installer, or the original application vendor’s repair process instead.
If the error remains after reinstalling
Collect this information before contacting the application vendor:
- The exact error text
- The affected program and version
- The full executable path
- Your Windows version
- Whether
bdcap32.dllexists beside the executable - Whether Windows Security quarantined anything
- Whether the program is 32-bit
- Whether the failure began after an update, cleanup, move, or disk problem
If the file is present but Windows still reports that the module cannot be found, a dependency may be missing. The application vendor may need to trace the loader failure or provide the correct bundled runtime. Do not substitute a newer DLL simply because its filename matches.
FAQ
Is bdcap32.dll a Windows file?
No. It is identified as part of Bandicam Capture Library software used by Bandicam and by applications that bundle or license the SDK.
Is `bdcap32.dll malware?
The filename alone cannot prove that every copy is safe. Check its location, provenance, antivirus result, and the installer that supplied it. A copy beside a legitimate application executable is more meaningful than the filename by itself.
Should I copy it to System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Its normal deployment is generally beside the application that uses it. Repair that application instead.
Does a 64-bit version of Windows need a 64-bit copy?
No. A 32-bit application needs the 32-bit library even on 64-bit Windows.
Will installing Visual C++ fix the error?
It may fix a missing dependency, but it is not the primary fix for a missing bdcap32.dll. Repair the originating application first and install the x86 runtime only when the application requires it.
Should I run regsvr32 bdcap32.dll?
No. This file is used as an application runtime library, not as an established COM or ActiveX control. Registration is not the normal repair.
Why did reinstalling Bandicam not fix my game?
