What this file actually does
WebKitQuartzCoreAdditions.dll belongs to the Windows port of Apple’s WebKit software. It was installed as part of an Apple application or shared Apple support component, rather than as part of Windows itself.

The most relevant owners are:
- Older iCloud for Windows installations
- iTunes and Apple Application Support
- Other older Apple Windows software that used WebKit components
A reported iCloudServices.exe error loads the file from a location similar to:
Recommended Free Tools
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAppleApple Application Support
That path is important. A copy in an Apple application folder can be legitimate, while a copy placed manually in C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, or the global PATH is not the correct repair.

The filename may appear in messages such as:
- “The program can’t start because webkitquartzcoreadditions.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because webkitquartzcoreadditions.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading webkitquartzcoreadditions.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “The procedure entry point … could not be located in the dynamic link library …”
- “webkitquartzcoreadditions.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
The last two messages usually indicate incompatible Apple files, not simply a missing DLL.
Match the symptom before repairing it
| What you see | Likely cause | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| Missing or not found | Apple installation is incomplete, damaged, or removed | Repair or reinstall iCloud, iTunes, or Apple Application Support |
| Entry point not found | An executable and DLL came from different Apple/WebKit releases | Remove duplicate Apple installations and reinstall one consistent product |
| Specified module could not be found | The DLL or one of its dependencies is absent | Check the full path, quarantine history, and the owning application |
| Bad image or not designed to run | Wrong architecture or damaged binary | Reinstall the application that supplied the file |
| Error appears during startup | A stale Apple startup task remains | Disable the obsolete startup item or scheduled task |
| Error began after antivirus activity | The file may have been quarantined | Review Protection history and reinstall from the official Apple package |
Also note when the problem began. Uninstalling Apple software, installing Microsoft Store and desktop versions side by side, deleting old Apple folders, restoring a backup, or using a disk-cleaning utility can leave an executable pointing to files that are no longer present.
Fix 1: Identify the Apple application and path
Do this before replacing anything.
- Read the complete error message.
- Write down the executable named in it, such as
iCloudServices.exe,iTunes.exe, or an Apple startup helper. - Note the full DLL path if Windows displays one.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps in Windows 11, or Apps & features in Windows 10.
- Search for
iCloud,iTunes,Apple Application Support, or other Apple software. - If several Apple entries are present, record them before uninstalling anything.
A path under an Apple folder supports the conclusion that the file belongs to an Apple installation. A path under a random download directory, temporary folder, or Windows system folder deserves extra caution.
Do not delete the DLL yet. The executable may still need a matching copy, and deleting one file can turn a version mismatch into a missing-file error.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall iCloud
For current iCloud installations, reinstalling the owning application is the most direct repair.
Before removing iCloud, sign out if you can and make sure files have finished syncing.
Windows 11
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find iCloud.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Install iCloud again from Apple’s official Microsoft Store listing.
Windows 10
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select Apps & features.
- Select iCloud.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Install iCloud again from the official Microsoft Store package.
After reinstalling, open iCloud and sign in again. Start the Apple feature that previously produced the error. If iCloudServices.exe starts without the message, the repair worked.
If the same entry-point message returns, do not copy a different DLL over the new one. Remove obsolete Apple desktop components, restart, and install one consistent iCloud package rather than keeping old and Microsoft Store installations mixed together.
Fix 3: Repair iTunes and Apple Application Support
Older iTunes packages installed shared components that other Apple software could also use. A damaged or incomplete Apple Application Support installation can therefore produce a WebKit DLL error even when iTunes is not the program you opened.
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Search the installed-app list for iTunes and Apple Application Support.
- Remove the affected Apple software if repair is not offered.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current supported iTunes package from Apple or the Microsoft Store.
- Restart again.
- Test iTunes and any Apple program named in the original error.
If Apple Application Support is missing from the installed-app list, reinstalling the Apple product is preferable to finding the DLL separately. The installer should restore the supporting files as a compatible group.
A 32-bit Apple program can require a 32-bit DLL even when Windows is 64-bit. The presence of Program Files (x86) is not, by itself, evidence of a problem. Installing a 64-bit replacement cannot satisfy a 32-bit executable.
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Fix 4: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine a file from an otherwise valid Apple installation. Do not disable antivirus globally to force a DLL into place.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the error began.
- Open a relevant detection and check its original path.
- If the path belongs to the Apple installation you recognize, record the detection details.
- Prefer reinstalling the Apple application from its official source.
- Restore a quarantined file only when its publisher, path, and owning installation are trusted.
If restoring causes the file to be quarantined again, stop restoring it and reinstall the application. Microsoft notes that a restored item may be detected again. A detection alone does not prove that this Apple DLL is malware, but an unexpected path or unknown publisher should not be ignored.
Fix 5: Remove a stale startup entry
If you already uninstalled iCloud or iTunes but the error appears when Windows starts, the remaining problem may be an obsolete startup reference.
Check Startup apps
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for iCloud, iTunes, Apple, or an entry marked as unavailable.
- Right-click only the entry that clearly points to the removed Apple program.
- Select Disable.
- Restart Windows.
Check Task Scheduler
- Open Start and search for Task Scheduler.
- Open Task Scheduler Library.
- Review tasks with Apple or iCloud in their names.
- Open a task’s Actions tab.
- Confirm whether it launches an obsolete Apple executable.
- Disable that task if the related application has been removed.
- Restart Windows.
Do not delete unrelated registry entries or tasks based only on a similar name. If the Apple program is still installed, repair it instead of disabling its normal startup components.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components as a secondary step
Because this is an Apple application DLL, Windows repair tools normally will not recreate it. They are useful when other Windows files are also failing or when the problem began after broader system corruption.
First install pending Windows updates and restart. Then:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the Apple application again.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither command is a substitute for reinstalling iCloud, iTunes, or Apple Application Support.

Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing which component changed can be tedious. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for issues and show what needs attention, while repairs are performed by the full version; it is optional, and reinstalling the Apple application remains the definitive fix for this DLL.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix 7: Do not register or manually copy the DLL
regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair command. Microsoft documents it for registering DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. A WebKit support library is not ordinarily a COM server.
Running this is therefore usually inappropriate:
regsvr32 webkitquartzcoreadditions.dll
It may produce an error saying that the module loaded but the required entry point was not found. That does not mean you need a different regsvr32 switch.
Avoid these common mistakes:
- Downloading the DLL from a random DLL website
- Copying it into
System32orSysWOW64 - Adding the Apple folder to the global PATH
- Replacing a 32-bit file with a 64-bit file
- Disabling antivirus to copy an unverified file
- Mixing files from different Apple releases
A standalone download can contain the wrong version, wrong architecture, or unwanted software, and it often leaves the original Apple installation inconsistent. Apple’s installer or Microsoft Store package is the safer source.
Fix 8: Check drivers and optional Windows components only when indicated
Drivers, DirectX, Visual C++ runtimes, and Windows Features are not first-line fixes for this Apple/WebKit DLL. Install them only if the complete error identifies one of those dependencies.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor a clearly identified device-related failure:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant device category.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart if Windows installs an update.
Avoid uninstalling a working device driver merely because the DLL error mentions an Apple application.
Hunting through Device Manager and guessing which of many drivers is stale can take longer than the actual repair. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify driver issues, with installation handled by the full version; it is optional and does not replace reinstalling the Apple program that owns this DLL.
Windows Features are similarly secondary. Do not enable legacy features at random. If the error specifically identifies a Windows feature, open Control Panel, select Programs, choose Turn Windows features on or off, change only the named feature, and restart.
If the error still remains
Capture these details before making further changes:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- The exact error wording
- The executable name
- The complete DLL path
- Whether the application is 32-bit or 64-bit
- Installed iCloud, iTunes, and Apple support components
- Any antivirus detection and original path
- Whether the message appears only at startup
“Specified module could not be found” can refer to a dependency of WebKitQuartzCoreAdditions.dll, not necessarily the named file itself. A dependency diagnostic tool or Microsoft Process Monitor can help identify which module fails, but do not delete registry entries or Apple folders based on a partial result.
If a suitable restore point predates the failure, System Restore is another option:
- Press Win + R.
- Enter
rstrui.exe. - Select a restore point.
- Choose Scan for affected programs.
- Review the changes.
- Complete the restore and restart.
System Restore normally affects system files, registry settings, and installed programs rather than personal files.
FAQ
Is webkitquartzcoreadditions.dll a Windows file?
No. It is an Apple/WebKit application library and is not part of the protected Windows System32 component store.
Should I put it in System32?
No. The correct copy belongs beside the Apple application or in an Apple support directory, and the required architecture must match the executable.
Is the file always from iCloud?
No. Older iCloud installations are an important source, but iTunes, Apple Application Support, and other older Apple Windows software may also use it. Confirm the owner from the error path and executable.
Why does a 64-bit Windows computer need a 32-bit DLL?
A 32-bit application requires 32-bit dependencies. Windows architecture and application architecture do not have to be the same.
Will SFC restore this file?
Normally no. SFC repairs protected Windows files, not Apple application files.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Is an entry-point error the same as a missing-file error?
No. An entry-point error usually means the executable and DLL are from incompatible releases. Reinstall the owning Apple product as a consistent set instead of downloading a newer DLL.
Should I use regsvr32?
Normally no. This library is not ordinarily a COM registration DLL, so registration is not the appropriate repair.
