No: Chapter Seven launch downtime is not a current outage. Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break launched with update v39.00 notes dated November 29, 2025. Epic’s latest surfaced status snapshot, from October 7, 2026, showed Fortnite and its listed services operational, but status can change; check Epic’s live status page for the latest.
What happened during the Chapter Seven launch?
Epic published the Chapter Seven: Pacific Break v39.00 update notes on November 29, 2025. That establishes the update’s date, but the notes do not give exact server downtime start or end times. Epic’s surfaced status history also does not show a November 2025 launch incident, so an outage duration, affected-player count, or restoration time cannot be verified from these sources.
Are Fortnite servers down now?
Epic’s surfaced Public Status snapshot reported Fortnite operational, including login, matchmaking, parties and friends, messaging, voice chat, stats and leaderboards, the Item Shop, and Fortnite Crew. The snapshot showed no incidents from October 2–7, 2026, and recorded scheduled v42.30 maintenance on October 1 as completed at 10:31 UTC, after starting at 08:00 UTC. These are dated status-page records, not a guarantee about service now or during a later outage. Check Epic Games Public Status for current component-level updates.
How to tell whether the problem is an outage or your connection
- Check Epic’s Public Status page first. Look for Fortnite or the specific service you cannot use, such as login or matchmaking, and check for an active incident or maintenance notice.
- If there is no listed outage, troubleshoot the connection. Epic says Matchmaking Error #5 or #7 can result from either a server issue or a network connection problem. Its Matchmaking Error #5 and #7 guidance directs players to check Epic Games Status for outages and follow connection troubleshooting if none is listed.
- Keep checking for updates if service is down. Epic Games Player Support advises: “If no timeframe is listed on the statuses page, please continue monitoring it to see when the server is back online.” Do not assume a restoration time if Epic has not provided one.
How to follow planned maintenance
Epic recommends checking its Public Status page and the FortniteStatus account for maintenance updates. Epic says in-game emergency messaging is posted approximately 24 hours before planned downtime. For scheduled maintenance, consult Epic’s scheduled-maintenance guidance rather than relying on an old Chapter Seven launch notice.
