What happened on March 19, 2026?
Epic announced that Fortnite was back on Google Play worldwide. The return made Google Play another official Android installation route; it did not mark Fortnite’s first availability on Android, since Epic’s own store app remained an option. Epic paired the announcement with the Fortnite Showdown Battle Royale season. Epic’s Fortnite announcement and its Epic Games announcement are dated March 19, 2026.
The mobile update highlighted alongside the return included the Yeddy Outfit promotion, Marvel Blitz matches and portrait mode for Fortnite Festival Main Stage. Epic also said its catalog included more than 345,000 games created with Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN); that count is Epic’s own published figure, not an independently verified total.
How to play Fortnite on Android now
Epic’s current Android support guidance lists two installation routes and three cloud gaming services. The right option depends on whether you want a local installation or can use a supported streaming service in your country.

Epic names Google Play and the Epic Games Store app as Android installation options, and lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW and Amazon Luna for mobile play. Streaming availability is regional, so check the service’s current requirements before relying on it.
Will your Android device run Fortnite natively?
Epic’s Android support FAQ includes a question about minimum specifications for native (non-cloud) play, but the available page content does not establish the actual requirements. Check Epic’s live FAQ before installing or choosing a phone; this article cannot confirm a particular model, performance level or frame rate.

The distinction matters: native play installs Fortnite on the device, while cloud gaming runs the game through a streaming service and does not require a Fortnite download through that service. Epic’s FAQ also raises questions about 60 FPS devices and crossplay, but the support material cited here does not provide their answers.
Can you use a controller?
Epic’s Android FAQ asks which controllers are supported, but does not provide a verifiable model list in the page content available here. Check the current FAQ or the controller maker’s compatibility information for your exact device and model before buying. No specific controller can be described here as Epic-approved.

What Epic said about Epic Rewards
Epic’s March 19 announcement described 20% back in Epic Rewards on purchases made using Epic’s payment system. For Google Play checkout, the announcement specified the United States and said Epic was working to bring the option to Google Play elsewhere. That was launch-announcement context, not confirmation of a current offer; check the current checkout and rewards terms before making a purchase.
