Assault Records are a campaign collection of notable enemy pilots and special units defeated in ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE. Published gameplay guides report 83 entries: 52 that mostly register as you progress through the campaign and 31 conditional enemy aces. Defeating a named ace unlocks a special paint scheme for that ace’s aircraft type; completing the collection is tied to the gold trophy A Record of Rivalry.
What Assault Records track
The records log notable opponents and special formations encountered and defeated in the campaign, including units such as Lux Lunae. They are a campaign collection—not the ACE PASS system. Bandai Namco’s overview of ACE PASS describes it as recording exploits in ACE COMBAT ONLINE, a separate online progression system.

How many records are there?
PowerPyx and KeenGamer report 83 records in total, divided into 52 mostly automatic special-unit entries and 31 conditional named aces. AllThingsHow also reports the 52-and-31 split. These are guide-reported counts; the official pages cited here do not state an Assault Records total.

How to unlock the conditional aces
Unlike the mostly campaign-progress entries, named aces require extra conditions. Guides report that they appear on Veteran difficulty or higher, and that each mission can have its own trigger—for example, destroying targets within a time limit or following a particular flight path.
- Replay the mission containing the missing ace on Veteran difficulty or higher.
- Meet that mission’s trigger condition so the ace appears. Check a mission-by-mission guide for the specific requirement; triggers vary.
- Shoot down the ace, then complete the sortie so the record can save.
- Check the Campaign Assault Records list to confirm the entry registered.
One reported cross-mission dependency links Mission 18 to Mission 28: PowerPyx says the Lux Lunae 22nd Unit in Mission 28 appears only if Shadow 24 was destroyed earlier in Mission 18.

What the records unlock
According to PowerPyx and KeenGamer, each named ace awards a special paint scheme for that ace’s aircraft type. KeenGamer also associates completing all 83 records with the gold trophy A Record of Rivalry. The guides provide the detailed gameplay claims; the official Bandai Namco pages cited here establish the game and describe ACE PASS, but do not confirm the campaign-record count or these unlock conditions.
