For boss fights where keeping your distance matters, start with Swordsmith’s Pride active; pair it with Sanguine Fury passive for a chance to heal, or Lamentations of the Chained passive for extra damage and brief freeze control. Choose Earthen Tides active when you can make good use of its charged lunge and homing sword beams. These are mechanics-based suggestions, not a tested damage ranking.
How the True Biome Blade’s attunement slots work
The weapon has four attunements: Earthen Tides, Sanguine Fury, Lamentations of the Chained, and Swordsmith’s Pride. One can be active while a second occupies the secondary slot and supplies its passive effect.
Hold right-click for about two seconds to attune the weapon to the biome you are in. A shorter right-click switches the active and secondary attunements. [c001]
Which attunements fit your play style?

Practical pairings by encounter need
For kiting bosses
Use Swordsmith’s Pride as the active attunement when you want to maintain distance. It spins up, throws toward the cursor, and produces homing astral energy; the official wiki specifically notes its usefulness for kiting bosses. [c005]
For occasional healing
Pair the active mode you are most comfortable using with Sanguine Fury in the passive slot. Its healing proc is rare, so it is a chance for sustain rather than dependable healing on every hit. [c003]

For extra damage and control
Use Lamentations of the Chained as your passive when you want its floating hook to add damage and briefly freeze enemies. This may suit encounters with clustered targets. [c004]
For charged attacks
Choose Earthen Tides as your active attunement if you can hold the charge and land the lunge. The lunge marks a target for the following homing sword beams, while a ground hit creates dust blasts. [c002]

How to obtain each attunement
| Attunement | Biomes listed for acquiring it |
|---|---|
| Earthen Tides | A biome without a corresponding attunement; examples include Purity and several other areas. |
| Sanguine Fury | Desert, Underworld, Corruption, or Crimson. |
| Lamentations of the Chained | Snow, Jungle, or Space. |
| Swordsmith’s Pride | Hallow or Astral Infection. |
