What did Bethesda announce for Starfield?
On March 14, 2026, Insider Gaming reported that Bethesda Game Studios had said it would share more about Starfield the following week. That report speculated that the news could include the Terran Armada expansion and a major update; those were predictions at the time, not confirmed details. Bethesda announced Free Lanes, Terran Armada, and the PS5 release on March 17. Its April 7 overview confirmed that the game was out on PS5 and that the update and DLC were available. What does the Free Lanes update add?
Free Lanes is a free update. Its central addition is Cruise Mode, which lets players travel freely between planets within a star system. Bethesda also says the update adds space encounters and expands gear, ship customization, progression, and outpost building. It is distinct from Terran Armada, which is paid story DLC. Bethesda’s April 7 overview describes the update’s features and availability.
What is included in Terran Armada?
Terran Armada is paid story DLC, listed by Bethesda at $9.99. It introduces the Terran faction, a new companion, and repeatable Incursions. Xbox Wire explains that Incursions can take place in space or on planetary surfaces; when grav-drive travel is blocked during some events, Cruise Mode can be used to approach or avoid them. When did Starfield launch on PS5, and what editions are available?
Bethesda announced a PS5 launch date of April 7, 2026, then confirmed in its April 7 overview that the game was available on the platform. The PlayStation Blog describes DualSense controller features and PS5 Pro Visual and Performance modes. Bethesda lists Standard and Premium editions in physical and digital formats:

What is confirmed about Starfield after April 2026?
Bethesda’s April 7 overview reported more than 1,000 Creations from Bethesda Game Studios and Verified Creators. The sources establishing the March and April announcements do not confirm further post-April plans, so the “next week” headline should be read as a historical reference to the March 17 reveal—not as a current teaser or upcoming event. They also do not establish a player-count, sales figure, or performance statistic for the announcement.
