Don’t share private information or use chat to arrange off-platform contact. Roblox has a narrow Strong Language exception for some Restricted experiences; it is not blanket permission to swear or abuse other players.
What speech is prohibited in Roblox voice chat?
Roblox says voice communication must follow its Community Standards and Restricted Content Policy. The rules are category-based, not a published list of every word that is allowed or blocked.
- Hate speech and slurs: Do not use language that targets people with hate or discrimination. The Strong Language exception does not permit slurs or hate speech.
- Bullying, harassment, threats, and intimidation: Do not direct abusive, threatening, or intimidating speech at another player. Strong Language cannot be used to insult, harass, or intimidate.
- Sexualized or otherwise prohibited content: Avoid sexualized speech and other content prohibited by Roblox’s standards.
- Private information: Do not share sensitive details such as your home address, phone number, or financial information. Roblox’s chat and privacy guidance warns against sharing personal or sensitive information in chats with fewer filters.
- Off-platform contact: Don’t use chat to solicit personal details, move a conversation elsewhere, or evade Roblox’s protections. Roblox says its filtered-chat systems block instructions to move off-platform.
Can you swear in Roblox voice chat?
Sometimes, under specific conditions. Roblox says user communications, including voice chat, may include Strong Language in a Restricted experience when that experience has Strong Language enabled. Roblox’s safety guidance says users aged 18 or older may be allowed to use profanity in those experiences. The exception does not permit language used to discriminate, insult, harass, or intimidate, and it does not permit slurs or hate speech. See the Restricted Content Policy and chat safety guidance.
So, “profanity is allowed on Roblox” is too broad. Whether the exception applies depends on the experience, its Strong Language setting, and Roblox’s age conditions. The exception does not override the Community Standards.

Who can use voice chat?
Roblox’s current Voice Chat setup guidance says users must be at least 13, complete an age check, and be in a supported region. Voice Chat is not enabled by default. Eligibility to use voice chat does not exempt an account from the rules.
Can Roblox moderate or ban you for what you say?
Yes. Roblox says it uses Automatic Speech Recognition to transcribe voice chat and an in-house AI model to classify and detect violating language in real time. Its Terms of Use describes possible action including temporary suspension or banning; the Voice FAQ says voice interactions are subject to reporting and moderation systems, including voice recording.

How to report, mute, or block a player
- To report a voice violation, use Report Abuse and specify Voice Chat. Roblox’s Voice FAQ explains that voice interactions can be reported.
- Use the in-experience mute or block controls if you need to stop hearing or interacting with someone. Roblox says muting affects voice chat only and lasts for the current experience session.
