An Epic Games Account ID is a permanent identifier for a specific Epic account. You can use it to tell accounts apart or help support identify the account you mean; it is not a password, display name, product code, or item you need to buy. Epic says other users do not see the ID, and it cannot be changed.
What an Epic Games Account ID identifies
Epic Games Account Support defines it as “a unique identifier assigned to your Epic Games account during account creation.” Unlike a display name, the ID is unique to the account, cannot be changed, and is not displayed to other users, according to Epic’s support article.

Think of it as a reference for an account, not a credential for signing in. Epic’s privacy policy describes account IDs as persistent identifiers used in operating services, authentication, security and integrity, legal compliance, and personalization. The cited material does not say that knowing an ID alone grants account access. Use Epic’s sign-in and support processes for access or recovery.
What you can use the ID for
Confirm which Epic account is active
If you use more than one Epic account, the active account can affect game content and settings. Epic lists examples such as V-Bucks appearing on an unexpected account, 2FA status seeming inconsistent, or a changed PIN not taking effect in-game. Its troubleshooting advice is to sign out and sign back in to confirm the intended account. Checking the account ID can also help distinguish accounts because it is unique and fixed; it complements, rather than replaces, that sign-in check. See Epic’s account troubleshooting guidance.

Give support a stable account reference
Because the ID is unique and does not change, it can help clarify which account a support request concerns. The cited help pages do not establish that every support request requires it, so provide it when relevant or requested rather than assuming it is mandatory.
Understand how Epic uses account identifiers
Epic’s privacy policy lists account IDs among persistent identifiers used to operate services and support authentication, security and integrity, legal compliance, and personalization such as game progress and avatar choice. It also describes information exchanges with console or platform partners and third parties in particular contexts, including account linking and third-party sign-in.

How to find your Epic Account ID
Epic’s menu labels can change as the launcher and games are updated. If a listed path no longer matches your version, use the current Epic support instructions.
- Epic website: Sign in, open Account, then look under Account Information.
- Epic Games Launcher: Open Friends, select the profile icon, then choose Show Account ID.
- Fortnite: From the lobby, open the profile or menu, choose Settings, then Account and Privacy. Hover over Epic Games account ID.
- Fall Guys on PC: Open the Social Menu, choose Settings, then select Show Account ID.
- Fall Guys on console: Open Settings, go to Profile, then select Show Epic Games account ID.
- Rocket League: Epic says the ID cannot be viewed in-game; use the website instead.
What the ID means for privacy
Epic says the ID is not shown to other users. That does not mean account-related information is never shared as services operate. Epic’s privacy policy describes uses of persistent identifiers and information sharing with platform partners or service providers in specified contexts. For linked accounts or third-party sign-in, Epic advises that other services may have their own privacy practices, so review those services’ policies as well.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
