It brought back the first weekend’s maps and modes, added the Brooklyn infantry map Empire State and the Rush mode, and required no access code. The beta is over; EA’s later debrief described further tuning plans but left time-to-kill and time-to-death under investigation.
When did Weekend 2 run, and who could play?
EA scheduled the beta’s Early Access for August 7–8, 2025, followed by open weekends August 9–10 and August 14–17. Weekend 2 was open without a code on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA app. EA said PC players needed Secure Boot enabled. The schedule and platform details are in EA’s July 31, 2025 beta schedule. These were limited 2025 test windows, not an ongoing offer.
What did Battlefield 6 add when the beta returned?
Empire State
Weekend 2 added Empire State, an infantry-only map set in Brooklyn. Its alleys, rooftops, and streets shifted combat toward close-range encounters and movement through a dense urban space.
Rush
Rush joined the rotation as an attacker-versus-defender mode. Attackers tried to arm M-COM communication systems; defenders worked to stop them. Weekend 2 also retained the maps and modes available during Weekend 1, including Iberian Offensive and the modes Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill. EA’s August 4, 2025 beta overview lists the weekend content.

What changed before the beta opened?
EA outlined a set of adjustments ahead of the test, making the beta a chance to evaluate both new content and gameplay changes. The announced work included:
- A Closed Weapon Conquest playlist, letting players try class-restricted weapons alongside open weapon choices.
- Updates to map traversal, objective layouts, and cover.
- Changes to revives in Domination.
- Weapon damage-balance adjustments and clearer weapon customization.
- Class signature-weapon bonuses.
These were pre-beta changes and features being evaluated, not a claim that every issue was permanently resolved. EA described them in its community update on the beta and the road to launch.
What did EA say it would tune after the test?
In its August 21, 2025 debrief, EA described follow-up work based on player feedback and beta data. The points below were plans and investigations announced at that time, rather than confirmation of the game’s current state.
Weapons and gunfights
EA said it planned to adjust recoil and tap-fire behavior across weapons to make their identities and effective ranges more distinct. The M87A1 shotgun would require more pellets to secure a kill. EA had not settled the broader debate about time-to-kill or time-to-death: both remained under investigation in the debrief. The Battlefield Team summarized its aim as: “We’re making targeted adjustments to deliver a more consistent and rewarding gunplay experience.”

Movement and parachutes
EA said it had reduced the horizontal momentum carried from a slide into a jump, increased the height penalty for consecutive jumps, and increased inaccuracy when firing during jumps or slides. It also reduced parachute-opening acceleration to make aerial movement more controlled. EA framed these changes as a way to make those actions more situational and less dominant in gunfights.
Maps and boundaries
EA said it was working to prevent unintended access to rooftops and out-of-bounds areas. The debrief also announced that larger maps were in the launch package and named Mirak Valley and a remake of Battlefield 3’s Operation Firestorm for future Battlefield Labs testing. Those were announcements made in August 2025, not a current roadmap.
Rush, Breakthrough, and small modes
EA said it was lowering Rush’s default player count to restore a more tactical pace, while Portal would let players experiment with larger Rush matches. Breakthrough was designed for up to 64 players, with some launch layouts using 48 and others 64. EA said it was using beta win/loss data to balance each map toward a 50/50 attacker-defender outcome.
For smaller modes, EA described 8v8 as a starting point for Team Death Match, Squad Death Match, Domination, and King of the Hill. That was a design starting point, not a promise that every small-mode match would always use that count.

Playlists and matchmaking
EA said the beta’s limited playlists were intended to test matchmaking flexibility, and that open and closed weapon choices would both remain options. It was also reviewing matchmaking after players struggled to find matches for some sector-capture challenges.

EA’s August 21, 2025 debrief reported these historical totals for the beta:

EA also reported class deployment rates of Assault 32%, Support 26%, Engineer 23%, and Recon 19%. The figures and class percentages came from EA’s debrief and accompanying infographic; EA noted that statistics from Casual or Portal modes backfilled with AI were not tracked. They describe the 2025 beta, not current player activity.
Were beta challenges and rewards still available?
No. EA’s Week 1 overview listed seven challenges with rewards intended for use when the full game released. They included career progression rewards at levels 10, 15, and 20, plus class tasks for Assault, Support, Engineer, and Recon. Those were beta-era challenges, not offers players can claim now.
